Grade 1 Winner Lady Prancealot To Be Offered At Keeneland November Sale

Grade 1 winner Lady Prancealot, who was third in the Sept. 26 Grade 1 Rodeo Drive at Santa Anita, will be offered as a racing or broodmare prospect during the premier Book 1 of Keeneland's November Breeding Stock Sale on Nov. 9.

Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent, will consign the 4-year-old daughter of Sir Prancealot, who has earned more than $640,000 while competing against the best of her division.

Lady Prancealot's connections all praise the filly for her talent and consistency.

“She's been unbelievably sound,” co-owner Michael Iavarone said. “She hasn't missed a beat. She's pretty much taken us everywhere we wanted to go.”

“Lady Prancealot has taken our partners on a great ride,” said Phillip Shelton, racing manager of co-owner Medallion Racing. “She won our first graded stakes at Keeneland in the G3 Pin Oak Valley View before going on to win the G1 American Oaks. We formed our partnership to have fillies like her and count ourselves lucky that she shows up every time.”

“Lady Prancealot has been unlucky this year,” trainer Richard Baltas said. “She has run big races but never gets any pace to run at. She's all class and just needs some speed up front to get her back in the winner's circle at the top level.”

“Lady Prancealot represents a great opportunity to race or breed in 2021,” said Mark Taylor, Taylor Made's vice president of marketing and public sales operations. “Her race potential speaks for itself, and her female family has been consistently producing top-class horses on both sides of the Atlantic for the last 50 years.”

Lady Prancealot began her career in England, where she was first, second or third in her initial three starts. She arrived in the U.S. and was second in her first two races, the Del Mar Juvenile Fillies Turf and Surfer Girl at Santa Anita. Those performances earned the Southern California-based filly a start in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Churchill Downs.

In 2019, Lady Prancealot faced a number of division standouts, winning the G3 Honeymoon at Santa Anita and finishing third to Grade 1 winner Cambier Parc in the G1 Del Mar Oaks Presented by The Jockey Club. Sent to the East Coast, she contested the rich Jockey Club Oaks Invitational at Belmont Park.

During Keeneland's Fall Meet, Lady Prancealot captured the 1 1/16-mile G3 Pin Oak Valley View by three-quarters of a length. That performance set her up for a triumphant return home, where she was the 8-5 favorite for the prestigious G1 American Oaks at Santa Anita and won by a half-length.

This year, Lady Prancealot has competed in Grade 1 and Grade 2 competition in Southern California with a runner-up finish in Del Mar's G2 John C. Mabee on Sept. 5 and a third in the aforementioned Rodeo Drive.

“What differentiates her is she has an explosive turn of foot,” Iavarone said. “I love horses that have that style. You think she has no chance, and all of a sudden here she comes out of nowhere. Horses like that really make the heart beat. They're really exciting. She never not shows up. She puts in her run every single time.”

Lady Prancealot has an international pedigree with winning connections in the U.S. and abroad. Also representing her sire, Sir Prancealot, is Beau Recall, who recently won the G2 Churchill Distaff Turf Mile for the second consecutive year to increase her earnings to more than $1.4 million. In August, another daughter, Irish-bred 2-year-old Miss Amulet, took the G2 Sky Bet Lowther at York in England and is considered a top performer in her division.

In the U.S., Sir Prancealot also is represented by Grade 2 winner Madam Dancealot and Keeneland's 2019 Limestone Turf Sprint winner, Ginger Nut.

Lady Prancealot's female family features several successful international runners. Among them are Shadwell Stable's homebred Almanaar, a Group 3 winner in France who became a Grade 1 winner in the U.S. and has competed in the Breeders' Cup World Championships; and Almanaar's dam, Baqah, a Group 2 winner in France and a Group 1-placed runner in England.

Breeders’ Cup Hopeful Con Te Partiro Retired; Still To Be Offered At Keeneland November Sale

Con Te Partiro, a multiple Group 1 winner in Australia who had visions of returning to her native country for a swan song start in this year's Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf before being offered at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, has been retired from racing due to a minor knee injury, per Ray Thomas of Australia's Daily Telegraph.

The 6-year-old daughter of Scat Daddy will remain cataloged for the Keeneland November sale.

Con Te Partiro was announced for the upcoming Breeders' Cup at Keeneland and the ensuing sale on the same property on Sept. 12, aiming to close a 2020 campaign that has included wins in the G1 Coolmore Classic and G1 Coolmore Legacy Stakes in Australia.

The mare was born in the U.S., and raced domestically for for trainer Wesley Ward and owner Hat Creek Racing. She won on debut as a juvenile during Keeneland's 2016 Spring Meet by 5 1/2 lengths. That campaign also saw her win the Bolton Landing Stakes at Saratoga by 5 3/4 lengths, and later finish second against male competition in the Juvenile Turf Sprint Stakes on the Breeders' Cup undercard at Santa Anita.

Like many of Ward's runners, Con Te Partiro was sent to England's prestigious Royal Ascot meet, and she came back with a victory in the Sandringham Handicap. Her remaining time in the U.S. saw her become a Grade 3-placed runner.

Con Te Partiro sold to SF Bloodstock and Newgate Farm for $575,000 during the 2018 Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale, and she was sent to the barn of Australian trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott to continue her racing career. The career renaissance she has experienced in 2020 was foreshadowed by her first Australian start, a victory in the G3 Dark Jewel Classic.

This is the second retirement for Con Te Partiro, who was initially sent off to be a broodmare during the 2019 Southern Hemisphere breeding season. However, she was put back in training at the insistence of her trainers after the mare failed to get in foal.

Global Sensation Con Te Partiro To Return To Keeneland For Breeders’ Cup, November Sale

Keeneland is excited to welcome Con Te Partiro – who began her career at Keeneland before winning stakes in the U.S. and at Royal Ascot in England and capturing two Group 1 races in Australia – back home for a start in the Breeders' Cup World Championships on Nov. 6-7 and then offer her during the premier Book 1 of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale on Nov. 9.

The 6-year-old daughter of Scat Daddy, who will be cataloged as a racing or broodmare prospect, will be consigned by Bedouin Bloodstock, agent.

With starts at 14 tracks on three continents over five seasons of racing, Con Te Partiro has a story unlike any other Thoroughbred.

“Con Te Partiro has excelled at the highest level of international racing while she has exemplified just how small the global Thoroughbred industry is,” Keeneland President-Elect and Interim Head of Sales Shannon Arvin said. “We are thrilled to hold a Keeneland homecoming for Con Te Partiro. She sold as a yearling at the September Sale and she began her racing career here during the 2016 Spring Meet. We look forward to presenting her at the November Sale with all the fanfare she deserves.”

Owned by SF Bloodstock and trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, Con Te Partiro this year has won two Group 1 events: the 7 1/2-furlong Coolmore Classic and one-mile Coolmore Legacy. Last year at five, Con Te Partiro won a Group 3 race in her Australian debut.

“It is remarkable to reflect on what Con Te Partiro has achieved in her racing career,” Waterhouse said. “It is a rare feat in itself to win stakes races on three continents, but it is her performances at the elite level in Australia for which she will be remembered. Con Te Partiro won both of the time-honored Group 1 races, the Coolmore Classic and the Coolmore Legacy, making her, arguably, the best-performed mare in Australia.”

“Con Te Partiro truly is a one-of-a-kind mare,” said Tom Ryan of SF Bloodstock. “Her accomplishments on the track – including two Grade 1 wins in Australia, stakes victories at both the Royal Ascot and Saratoga race meets and successes on both dirt and turf – put her in an elite category of racehorses with the ability to perform at the highest level around the world.

“We purchased her in 2018 as a beautiful stakes-winning filly by Scat Daddy from the family of Into Mischief, and we are proud to say she has exceeded all expectations since.”

Con Te Partiro's return to Keeneland will come 4 1/2 years after she opened her career here with a dominating 5 1/2-length victory on dirt as a 2-year-old for trainer Wesley Ward and owner Hat Creek Racing. Transferred to turf, she won the Bolton Landing at Saratoga by 5 3/4 lengths and was second against males in the Juvenile Turf Sprint on the 2016 Breeders' Cup undercard at Santa Anita.

Her 3-year-old campaign included a trip to England, where she won the Sandringham at the prestigious Royal Ascot meet, and she raced in Grade 1 stakes at Del Mar and Keeneland. The next season, she was third in the G3 Arlington Matron in Chicago.

While boasting a unique race record, Con Te Partiro hails from an active, well-known family. Her sire, Scat Daddy, is the sire of such prominent horses as undefeated 2018 Triple Crown winner Justify and European champion and Royal Ascot winner Lady Aurelia.

Con Te Partiro is out of the Grade 1-placed Street Cry mare Temple Street and hails from a Grade 1-producing female family. She is a half-sister to stakes winner and multiple graded stakes-placed Donworth and is from the extended family of four-time champion Beholder, Grade 1 winner Mendelssohn and Grade 1 winner and leading sire Into Mischief.

In addition, Con Te Partiro is from a commercially successful family with half-siblings selling for as much as $550,000. She herself is a graduate of Keeneland's September Yearling Sale.

Grade 1 Winner, Breeders’ Cup Hopeful Ollie’s Candy To Be Offered At Keeneland November Sale

The ultra-consistent Ollie's Candy, a Grade 1 winner on dirt who is Grade 1-placed on turf, is scheduled to compete in the Breeders' Cup Distaff at Keeneland on Nov. 7 and two days later be offered as a racing or broodmare prospect during the premier Book 1 of the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale.

Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent, will consign the 5-year-old daughter of leading sire Candy Ride, who has been first, second or third in 12 of 14 starts from coast to coast while defeating 24 graded winners and nine Grade 1 winners. She has earned $830,151.

“Ollie's Candy's Grade 1 talent combined with her pedigree and conformation make her a tremendous prospect to offer this November,” said Mark Taylor, Taylor Made's vice president of marketing and public sales operations. “I also love the fact that she is an open book to breed to many of the top stallions from around the globe.”

Ollie's Candy, an alumnus of Keeneland's 2016 September Yearling Sale, is out of Afternoon Stroll, a daughter of Stroll who won Keeneland's Grade 3 Appalachian and is the dam of three winners from three foals.

Based in Southern California, Ollie's Candy has competed at the highest level of her division while traveling across the U.S. She won the 2019 G1 Clement L. Hirsch at Del Mar and was second in the race this year. Her 2020 campaign also includes a second in the G1 Apple Blossom at Oaklawn and third-place finishes in the G1 Beholder Mile at Santa Anita and G1 Ogden Phipps at Belmont.

The mare is pointed to the Oct. 4 G1 Juddmonte Spinster at Keeneland during the prestigious Fall Stars Weekend on the opening three days of the Fall Meet. The stakes is a “Win and You're In” race for the Breeders' Cup Distaff.

Ollie's Candy has been an outstanding performer since she began her career at three and won her first three races, including the G2 Summertime Oaks at Santa Anita. On turf at Del Mar, she was second in both the G1 Del Mar Oaks Presented by The Jockey Club and G2 San Clemente.

Last year, Ollie's Candy won the Clement L. Hirsch after finishing second in the G3 Wilshire on turf at Santa Anita. She also was third in the G2 Zenyatta and fourth in the Breeders' Cup Distaff at Santa Anita.

“Ollie's Candy exemplifies the finest in Thoroughbred racing and has a global appeal that makes her an invaluable addition to any broodmare band,” Keeneland President-Elect and Interim Head of Sales Shannon Arvin said. “Keeneland is pleased to offer a broodmare prospect of her class, talent and promise.”
