TVG Adds Jockey Cam, Rail Cam To Enhanced Coverage From Keeneland

TVG will bring racing fans closer to the action than ever before with Jockey Cam, enhanced audio from competitors and the debut of a new Rail Cam when America's horse racing network starts its coverage of every race, every day from the prestigious Keeneland Fall Meeting, the network announced today.

TVG will have blanket, wire-to-wire coverage of the meet including behind-the-scenes features, exclusive interviews from the Keeneland paddock, and expert analysis led by Todd Schrupp, Christina Blacker, Simon Bray, Scott Hazelton, Caton Bredar and Gabby Gaudet.

The featured race on Opening Day is the $400,000 Darley Alcibiades Stakes (G1) which is a Breeders' Cup “Win and You're In” Challenge Series race and qualifies the winner for the Juvenile Fillies (G1). The race has drawn a full field of twelve 2-year-old fillies and Juju's Map has been tabbed as the 5-2 morning line favorite for trainer Brad Cox. Florent Geroux will be aboard for Albaugh Family Stables.

The coverage of Keeneland's Fall Meet will run through Saturday, Oct. 30, and will include the $200,000 Woodford (G2) Presented by TVG on Oct. 9 alongside 16 additional graded stakes races, ten of which are part of the Breeders' Cup “Win and You're In” Challenge Series with winners earning automatic berths into the Breeders' Cup World Championships at Del Mar on Nov. 5-6.

Saturday's loaded card features five graded stakes races including the $750,000 Keeneland Turf Mile (G1) which will earn the winner a spot in the starting gate in the Breeders' Cup FanDuel Mile (G1). The race has drawn a contentious field of thirteen including the defending winner from 2020, Ivar (BRZ). Trained by Paulo Lobo, Joe Talamo will be aboard as the 5-year-old son of Agnes Gold (JPN) makes his second start of the year following a sixth-place finish in his seasonal debut.

“We are excited to bring these innovations and enhanced broadcast technology to our comprehensive coverage of Keeneland and its Fall Meet, always one of the most anticipated and prestigious on the racing calendar,” said Kevin Grigsby, TVG Executive Producer.

“Keeneland fans are among the most knowledgeable and enthusiastic in Thoroughbred racing, and they will truly appreciate TVG's enriched coverage of the Fall Meet,” Keeneland Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Christa Marrillia said. “These new features represent the latest chapter in Keeneland's strong partnership with TVG.”

TVG's Jockey Cam was a popular addition to its coverage of the Del Mar meet and its Rail Cam is designed to bring fans even closer to the action. At Keeneland, the robotic Rail Cam will travel down the stretch with the horses as they approach the finish line. TVG's coverage at the track will also feature handicapping analysis with integrated graphics and touch screen technology.

UK HealthCare Named Official Health Care Provider for Keeneland Meets

Keeneland and UK HealthCare have entered into a partnership in which UK HealthCare will become the track's “Official First Aid Provider” of first aid and emergency medical services to racing participants, fans and staff during race meets.

UK HealthCare will staff and equip Keeneland's state-of-the-art First Aid center, and their trauma personnel will support the emergency response vehicles stationed on track during the race day. Through this partnership, the EMS care available to jockeys, participants and patrons at Keeneland will be an extension of the Level 1 trauma service received at UK HealthCare's emergency room.

Race-day fans also will notice a uniquely designed “chase vehicle,” developed and co-branded by Keeneland and UK HealthCare, which follows horses and riders around the track during every race. The chase vehicle carries paramedics and an expert horse handler to optimize both the efficiency and effectiveness of Keeneland's coordinated response for humans and horses in the event of need.

“Keeneland's partnership with UK HealthCare offers an exciting opportunity to further elevate the quality of care we provide our riders, horsemen, patrons and staff during race meets,” Keeneland Vice President of Equine Safety Dr. Stuart Brown said. “We are fortunate in this community to have a medical network of the caliber and quality offered by UK HealthCare, and we look forward to working with their talented professionals for many years to come.”

Keeneland Debuts New Turf Pick 3 For Fall Meet

Keeneland has announced a number of wagering opportunities, including the new Keeneland Turf Pick 3, for handicappers of all levels during the Fall Meet from Oct. 8-30.

The Keeneland Turf Pick 3 wager will be offered on the final three turf races each race day. The minimum wager is $3 and will follow the same rules as the traditional Pick 3. (The Keeneland Turf Pick 3 will be available only as a separate event on wagering terminals or on ADWs due to the unique $3 minimum and the fact that Keeneland has rolling Pick 3s on each race.)

The new wager has a 15 percent takeout, the same low takeout as Keeneland's popular Pick 5 wager.

“We believe the Keeneland Turf Pick 3 to be the first wager of its kind to be offered to horseplayers,” Keeneland Vice President of Racing Gatewood Bell said. “With Keeneland's deep turf schedule and the caliber of racing we expect to see during the Fall Meet – combined with a $3 minimum bet amount and lower takeout of the Keeneland Turf Pick 3 – this innovative wager should be appealing to handicappers.”

Post time for the first race during the Fall Meet, which marks Keeneland's 85th anniversary, is 1 p.m. ET.

As an added promotion this October, new Keeneland Select accounts will receive a special $100 rebate after a user wagers $200 on Keeneland racing during the Fall Meet with the promo code FALL2021. This is in addition to the standard sign-up bonus that will reward new users with $100 after wagering $300 in their first 30 days.
