Northern Farm Buys Dandalla For 750,000gns at Tattersalls December

Dandalla (Ire) (Dandy Man {Ire}) was the first mare to breach the 750,000gns mark at the Tattersalls December Mare Sale, which was in its second session on Wednesday. Northern Farm struck for lot 1735, who was consigned by Karl Burke's Spigot Lodge Stables on behalf of Nick Bradley Racing 28 & Partner. A winner of the G2 Duchess Of Cambridge S., G3 Albany S. and the Listed The Arran Scottish Sprint EBF Fillies' S., the Robert Norton-bred was also fourth in this year's G1 Commonwealth Cup at Royal Ascot. Dandalla originally sold for €15,500 as a Goffs November foal and brought €22,000 from Kelly Burke at the 2020 Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale. Her winning dam Chellalla (GB) (Elnadim) is a half-sister to stakes winner Konkan (Ire) (Aussie Rules).

Group 2 Winner Dandalla Back at Newbury Next Month

Two-time group winner Dandalla (Ire) (Dandy Man {Ire}) is targeting the G3 Fred Darling S. (Dubai Duty Free S.) at Newbury on Apr. 17 for her 3-year-old return. A winner of a Newcastle maiden over the synthetic last June, the Karl Burke charge captured the G3 Albany S. at Royal Ascot later that month and also added the G2 Duchess of Cambridge S. in July. Her winning sequence was interrupted by a fifth in the G1 Cheveley Park S. at Newmarket on Sept. 26.

“She heads for the Fred Darling at Newbury, or what was,” said Burke. “That has been the plan for a long time and at the moment she's bang on course for that. She's wintered really well, done everything we've asked and I'm very happy with her.”

Dandalla To Swerve Morny

Dandalla (Ire) (Dandy Man {Ire}), the six-length winner of the G3 Albany S. at Royal Ascot who followed up in the G2 Duchess of Cambridge S. on July 10, will miss this weekend’s G1 Prix Morny and wait for the G1 Cheveley Park S. on Sept. 26.

“It’s a combination of reasons,” said co-owner Nick Bradley. “The ground isn’t ideal, obviously, and she is actually lighter than she was at Ascot. I think she’s just going through a growing phase. Her work has been very good. It was eye-popping in March/April time. We’re going to be a little bit patient and treat her like a good horse. She’ll come back for the Cheveley Park. That is still the plan.

“We’re treating her with caution. She’s definitely getting there. If we had another week maybe we would have gone.”
