First Winner For Unfortunately

Springfield House Stud's Unfortunately (Ire) (by Society Rock {Ire}) became the latest first-season sire to get off the mark on Friday evening as Looking For Lynda (Ire) captured the opener at Nottingham. Sent off the 6-5 favourite for the five-furlong contest having finished runner-up at Ayr on debut Apr. 25, the Karl Burke-trained son of the Cheveley Park mare Designated (GB) (Dutch Art {GB}) was professional from the outset under Clifford Lee and shook off those who chose to take him on in front to score by 3 1/4 lengths from Friday Already (Ire) (Dragon Pulse {Ire}). “He was still a bit green there and stumbled coming out of the stalls, but travelled and quickened up nicely,” his rider said. “I felt he wasn't giving me everything in the final furlong, but that's greenness and he'll come on for that again.” A 12,000gns Tattersalls Somerville Yearling Sale graduate, Looking For Lynda who was bred by Springfield House Stud and Hollymount Stud is the first foal out of a daughter of the winning Entitled (GB) (Pivotal {GB}), in turn a full-sister to Cheveley Park's G1 Lockinge S. and G1 Sun Chariot S. heroine Peeress (GB). Her yearling is a full-brother to the winner.

Showcasing’s Dramatised A New TDN Rising Star

Clipper Logistics' 2-year-old filly Dramatised (Ire) (Showcasing {GB}) went postward as the 9-4 favourite for Friday's My Odds Boost On Betfair British EBF Maiden Fillies' S. at Newmarket and dominated the five-furlong dash with an explosive performance to earn TDN Rising Stardom. The April-foaled bay tanked forward from the break to seize control after the initial strides. Last to come off the bridle inside the two pole, she was not for catching once shaken up at the foot of the hill and powered clear inside the final furlong to prevail by an impressive four lengths from Malrescia (Ire) (Acclamation {GB}).

“She's been showing plenty at home and the 2-year-olds have set off really well,” said trainer Karl Burke. “She'd be the head of the pile of the fillies that have been winning, so we knew we had a good horse and it was just a question of keeping a lid on her really. I actually thought that she'd jump a bit sharper than she did and she's very fast once she's into her stride. We trained her mother, who won the [Listed] Empress S., and she was the same in that she had a little bit of an edge to her, but a lot of talent. The obvious race to look at next is the [Listed] Marygate at York, but I'm not sure that's the right place for her on just her second run with the walk-across the open spaces there. We've probably got other fillies for that race, but we'll discuss it with the owners. I'd say the [G2] Queen Mary [at Royal Ascot] is the race for her. We've got some nice fillies.”

Dramatised, half-sister to a yearling filly by Night of Thunder (Ire) is the third of four foals and first scorer produced by stakes-winning G3 Prix du Calvados third Katie's Diamond (Fr) (Turtle Bowl {Ire}), herself a half-sister to the dam of stakes-winning GIII Jimmy Durante S. placegetter Quattroelle (Ire) (Mehmas {Ire}).

Freshman Sire Jungle Cat Off The Mark At Musselburgh

Former Kildangan Stud resident Jungle Cat (Ire) (Iffraaj {GB}) became the latest freshman off the mark when the Karl Burke-trained newcomer Miss Jungle Cat (GB), a 60,000gns Tattersalls Somerville yearling, pounced late to snag Saturday's Betway EBF Novice S. going a shade over five furlongs at Musselburgh. In fourth and under pressure at halfway, the 16-5 chance refused to wilt at the business end and kept on relentlessly under a continued drive to deny Explicit (Ire) (Expert Eye {GB}) by 1 1/4 lengths inside the final 100 yards.

Miss Jungle Cat is the ninth of 10 foals and fifth scorer out of a winning half-sister to G3 Prix Saint-Romain scorer Eco Friendly (GB) (Sabrehill). Her second dam is G3 Goldene Peitsche victrix Flower Girl (GB) (Pharly {Fr}). The February-foaled bay is kin to Listed Harry Rosebery S. third Umneyati (GB) (Iffraaj {GB}) and a yearling filly by Havana Gold (Ire).

El Caballo Wins Coral At Wolverhampton, Earns Spot On All-Weather Finals Day

El Caballo looks sure to be a live contender on Finals Day following a hugely promising victory in the Coral Proud To Support British Racing Conditions Stakes at Wolverhampton Racecourse in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom Saturday.

Runner-up to subsequent G3 Molecomb Stakes winner Armor on debut, El Caballo had been off the track since a stylish novice race success at Carlisle Racecourse in Carlisle, United Kingdom in May.

Despite the absence, trainer Karl Burke had issued a positive update beforehand and the 11/8 chance duly delivered under a confident ride from Clifford Lee.

In a three-runner field, El Caballo shadowed 11/10 favorite Navello throughout the six-furlong contest before making his challenge in the home straight. He joined Navello at the furlong pole and readily pulled clear of his 91-rated rival to win by three lengths.

This success provides El Caballo with a guaranteed place in the £150,000 Coral All-Weather Three-Year-Old Championships over the same distance at Newcastle on Finals Day.

Lee said: “El Caballo is a lovely horse who has been working really well at home. He should come on a hell of a lot for that.

“In his two runs this year, he ran a blinder first time out and then won comfortably.

“I think the big, galloping track at Newcastle will suit him. It was his first time around a bend today and he was a little bit green but, once he got straightened up, he has quickened away.”

Alan Crombie of part-owners Grange Park Racing said: “El Caballo is, without doubt, the best horse that Grange Park Racing has been involved in.

“We ran El Caballo first time out against Armor, who has now gone off to stud rated 111, and we said we wouldn't have been afraid of taking him on again. Then he has gone to Carlisle and won on testing ground and today he has won on the top of it. He is just a very good horse.

“He has come back from an injury and this run was to give him the confidence and to see where we are. He has shown he is well over that and now there is a lot to look forward to.

“Finals Day is an option. We will leave that to Karl as he will make the final decision on that.”
