Coolmore's JUST SO (Justify) will lead the field to post for his debut off a steady stream of works in South Florida for trainer Chad Brown. He is a son of MGISW Turbulent Descent, who also raced in the Coolmore colors before selling in foal to War Front for $2.45 million at KEENOV in 2014. His third dam is the MGIW Gorgeous (Slew o'Gold), the dam of MGSW winner Stunning (Nureyev). The Stuart S. Janney III homebred Windsor Park (Mastery) debuts for trainer Shug McGaughey and represents a long line of beautifully bred Janney runners, including his Grade I-winning dam and Grade I-winning granddam Deputation (Deputy Minister), who herself produced the dam of MGSW Criminologist (Maria's Mon). Ghost Coast (Street Sense) drew the far outside for his debut for trainer Brendan Walsh. Harrell Ventures and Starlight Racing LLC paid $250,000 for this colt as a KEESEP yearling. He is out of the unraced Exchange Rate mare Mirapoix, who herself is a half-sister to GSW Michigan Bluff (Skywalker), the dam of Turkish champion Hakeem (Harlan's Holiday) and SW Let's Go Cheyenne (Tiznow). Other notable names in this colt's pedigree include MGSW Chocolate Ride (Candy Ride {Arg}) and GISW Killer Graces (Congaree). TJCIS PPs.

Justify Represented By First Australian Winner

Coolmore Stud's Triple Crown hero and dual-hemisphere sire Justify (Scat Daddy) is off the mark in Australia and with a smart one. Learning To Fly (Aus) found plenty at her racecourse debut in Saturday's G3 Widden S. at Rosehill (video), having shown plenty of talent at the trials.

Bred by Katom and purchased by Kia Ora Stud for A$900,000 from the Coolmore Stud draft at the 2022 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, the Annabel Neasham-trained filly is her sire's seventh worldwide stakes winner and his first winner of any variety on Australian soil.

She is the second foal for the G3 Chairmans' S. winner Ennis Hill (Aus) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}) whose dam is the G2 Reisling S. winner Hips Don't Lie (NZ) (Stravinsky)–also dam of the Listed winners Lake Geneva (Aus) and Acrobat (Aus), both also by Fastnet Rock.

Served last spring by Snitzel (Aus) after foaling an I Am Invincible (Aus) filly, Ennis Hill also has a Pierro (Aus) filly who is catalogued as lot 117 at this year's Inglis Easter sale.

Learning To Fly boasts a cross of the wonderful mare Crimson Saint (Crimson Satan) via her grandson Storm Cat and son Royal Academy.

Justify’s Harlocap Breaks Maiden for Baffert

Santa Anita, $68,500, Msw, 1-22, 3yo, 1 1/16m, 1:43.81, ft, 4 1/2 lengths.
HARLOCAP (c, 3, Justify–Mezinka, by Bodemeister) was second on debut to 'TDN Rising Star' Spun Intended (Hard Spun) at Del Mar Nov. 26, and lost in the final sixteenth at Santa Anita Jan. 2 when second to stablemate Mr Fisk (Arrogate). This time the even-money favorite set the pace early and showed the way along the rail as a pair pursued. The $400,000 EASMAY buy repulsed a challenge around the far turn and opened up down the lane to secure the victory by a comfortable 4 1/2 lengths over Yellow Brick (Quality Road). Second dam Star of Goshen (Lord At War {Arg}) produced superstar sire MGISW Pioneerof the Nile (Empire Maker). The winner is out of an unraced mare who is responsible for a 2-year-old colt by Uncle Mo. She was bred consecutively to Authentic starting in 2021, but did not register a foal the following year. Sales History: $150,000 Ylg '21 KEESEP; $275,000 2yo '22 FTFMAR; $400,000 2yo '22 EASMAY. Lifetime Record: 3-1-2-0, $67,600. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by TVG.
