Frankel’s Dreamflight Prevails In Thomas Bryon Thriller

Lady Bamford's homebred Dreamflight (GB) (Frankel {GB}), one of two contenders from the Andre Fabre stable for Friday's G3 Prix Thomas Bryon Jockey Club de Turquie, placed in starts at Deauville in August and Saint-Cloud last month. Back over the latter venue's one-mile course and distance for his black-type bow, the 18-5 chance would not be denied in a thrilling finish to the card's feature event. He was swiftly into stride and led all four rivals from flagfall. Coming under pressure when tackled by stablemate Chancellery (Ire) (Medaglia d'Oro) with 500 metres remaining, the two became three when Making Moovies (Ire) (Dabirsim {Fr}) joined in soon after passing the quarter-mile marker and it was Dreamflight along the far-side rail who found most in a three-way tussle, hitting the line with a short neck to spare from Making Moovies. Chancellery was unable to edge ahead when threatening to do so and battled gamely to finish a head further back in third.

“It was the right day to break his maiden, he has improved with every run and was a real fighter today,” said rider Maxime Guyon. “When Andre Fabre enters a maiden in a Group race it's best to pay attention because he knows what he is doing. I think Dreamflight will have no problem staying further next year.”

Dreamflight is the fifth of six foals and fourth winner from as many runners out of G2 Prix de la Nonette victrix Dream Peace (Ire) (Dansili {GB}), who placed twice in both GI Diana S, and GI E.P. Taylor S. as well as running third in the GI Flower Bowl Invitational. The January-foaled homebred bay is full to a yearling filly and also kin to Listed Martin Molony S. third Questionare (GB) (Galileo {Ire}). Dream Peace, who was knocked down for 2.7-million guineas as a Tattersalls December Mare in 2013, is a daughter of GII E.P. Taylor S. and G3 Prix de Royaumont winner Truly A Dream (Ire) (Darshaan {GB}) and thus a half-sister to G1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains runner-up Catcher In The Rye (Ire) (Danehill). Descendants of Truly A Dream also include Listed Quebec S. victor True To Form (Ire) (Rock of Gibraltar {Ire}), Listed Salsabil S. victrix and G3 Park Express S. third Truly MIne (Ire) (Rock of Gibraltar {Ire}) and G3 lacken S. winner Only Mine (Ire) (Pour Moi {Ire})

Group Winner Grocer Jack Highlights Tattersalls Autumn HIT Sale

Group 3 winner Grocer Jack (Ger) (Oasis Dream {GB}) is one of the highlights of the four-day Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale from Oct. 25-28. One of 1,577 lots catalogued, the 4-year-old colt (lot 738) was second in the G1 Bayerisches Zuchtrennen and is rated 118 by Timeform.

Several recent sale graduates have enjoyed Group 1 success on an international level in 2021, including Salute The Soldier (Ger) (Sepoy {Aus}) and Zaaki (GB) (Leroidesanimaux {Brz}). Among them are two-time group placed Hierarchy (Ire) (Mehmas {Ire}) (lot 1205); Listed Windsor Castle S. winner Chipotle (GB) (Havana Gold {Ire}) (lot 1055); G1 Cazoo St Leger third and fourth The Mediterranean (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) (lot 238) and Interpretation (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) (lot 236); and G1 Melbourne Cup runner-up Tiger Moth (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) (lot 548); listed winner Chalk Stream (GB) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) (lot 666); and G3 March S. winner Dancing King (Ire) (Free Eagle {Ire}) (lot 778).

Frankel’s Alpinista Downs G1 Preis von Europa Rivals

It's been a season like no other for Kirsten Rausing's Lanwades Stud operation and, fresh on the heels of Zaaki (GB)'s cakewalk in Saturday's G1 Underwood S., the Sir Mark Prescott-conditioned 4-year-old filly Alpinista (GB) (Frankel {GB}) made it a quickfire elite-level double for the nursery, sporting her owner-breeder's colours, in Sunday's G1 59th Preis von Europa at Cologne. The February-foaled grey, second in last term's G1 Yorkshire Oaks, was unbeaten in three prior black-type starts this term and lined up as the 11-10 favourite for this latest outing returning off a G2 Lancashire Oaks win and a comfortable defeat of leading German stayer Torquator Tasso (Ger) (Adlerflug {Ger}) in Hoppegarten's G1 Grosser Preis von Berlin last month. The enigmatic Quebueno (Ger) (Adlerflug {Ger}) was in reticent mood and scratched at the start after refusing to load. Alpinista was steadied off the tempo in third after passing the judge first time as Grosser Preis von Berlin fourth Nerium (Ire) (Camelot {GB}) led the way with a handy advantage from MG1SP G2 Badischen Wirtschaft winner Kaspar (Ger) (Pivotal {GB}) in second. Initiating her pursuit of the clear leader when bounced into second off the home turn, she quickened smartly to seize control approaching the furlong pole and stayed on strongly under continued urging in the closing stages to deny her old foe by 1 1/4 lengths for a second Group 1 triumph. Darius Racing's G1 Deutsches Derby hero Sisfahan (Fr) (Isfahan {Ger}) was doing all his best work at the finish and ran on well from off the pace to hit the line 1 3/4 lengths back in third.

“We're very happy, it's a fantastic family and thanks very much to Miss Rausing for sending us such a lovely filly,” said assistant trainer William Butler. “It's been a very lucky family for the stable, right the way back to Alborada through to Albanova, who won this race in 2004. I was here for that and this is great too. She's done everything we've asked of her this year and that's four runs and four wins. She's won two Group 1s, a Group 2 and a Listed, so we're very, very lucky to have her.” Looking ahead to possible future targets, Butler added, “Coming back to Germany [for the G1 Grosser Preis von Bayern] is an option, as is the [G1 British Champions] Fillies & Mares at Ascot. It could be Munich, but we'll see. The main thing is to get her back home and make sure she's okay. With these fillies, you've just got to make sure they're in good form and they're healthy. When they are, they can do things like this.”

Alpinista, kin to the unraced 2-year-old filly Alpenblume (GB) (Kendargent {Fr}) and a yearling colt by Oasis Dream (GB), is one of 19 Group 1 winners by her sire and the first foal produced by a stakes-winning half to four stakes performers out of MG1SW distaffer Albanova (GB) (Alzao), winner of this in 2004. They include G3 Legacy Cup victor Algometer (GB) (Archipenko), stakes-winning G3 Geoffrey Freer S. placegetter Alignak (GB) (Sea The Moon {Ger}) and multiple stakes winner All At Sea (GB) (Sea the Stars {Ire}). Albanova is one of four black-type performers thrown by stakes-winning G1 Moyglare Stud S. third Alouette (GB) (Darshaan {GB}), whose descendants also include dual G1 Champion S. heroine Alborada (GB) (Alzao) and stakes-winning G1 Epsom Derby second Dragon Dancer (GB) (Sadler's Wells). Alouette is kin to G3 Doncaster Cup vixtrix Alleluia (GB) Caerleon), herself the dam of G1 Prix Royal-Oak heroine Allegretto (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and G2 Nassau S. winner Last Second (Ire) (Alzao), the latter being the dam of G1 Poule d'Essai des Poulians-winning sire Aussie Rules (Danehill)

Amendment Nineteen Debuts for Cox in Remington Oaks

Amendment Nineteen (Constitution), privately purchased by Juddmonte and transferred to Brad Cox last month, will make her debut for the new connections while trying two turns for the first time in a seven-horse renewal of Sunday's GIII Remington Park Oaks on the GIII Oklahoma Derby undercard at Remington.

Debuting with a strong, fast-closing second at 15-1 behind subsequent 'TDN Rising Star' Always Carina (Malibu Moon) at six furlongs in the Aqueduct mud Apr. 11, the $20,000 Keeneland November buy overcame a slow start and a wide trip to graduate going a sloppy mile May 30 at Belmont. A good second while again taking the overland route in a Saratoga allowance July 24, she was bought and transferred from the Linda Rice barn a few weeks later, and shows four breezes for Cox, most recently drilling a sharp five furlongs in :59 4/5 (4/40) Sept. 19 at Churchill.

Stonestreet Stables' Pauline's Pearl (Tapit) looks for her first win since the spring while breaking from the rail here. Runner-up at just under 19-1 making her first start against winners in the GIII Honeybee S. Mar. 6 at Oaklawn, the gray scored at odds-on next out in the GIII Fantasy S. Apr. 3 before retreating to eighth after chasing the pace in the GI Longines Kentucky Oaks Apr. 30. Given a brief break, she has since returned with a third in the GIII Iowa Oaks July 2 at Prairie Meadows and a second last out in the GIII Charles Town Oaks Aug. 27.

Rounding out the top contenders are Allied Racing Stable's Lovely Ride (Candy Ride {Arg}), who is four-for-six lifetime and picked up her first stakes success with a game win in the Cathryn Sophia S. last out Aug. 24 at Parx, and Lady Mystify (Bernardini), who ships in from the West Coast for Peter Eurton after bleeding when finishing a well-beaten fifth in the GIII Torrey Pines S. Aug. 21 at Del Mar.
