Kingman’s Commissioning Strikes Late For G1 Fillies’ Mile Glory

Isa Salman and Abdulla Al Khalifa's homebred 2-year-old filly Commissioning (GB) (Kingman {GB}–Sovereign Parade {Ire}, by Galileo {Ire}) backed up a July 30 debut victory at Newmarket's July course with a taking score in last month's G2 Rockfel S. and stepped forward to provide rider Rab Havlin with a first Group 1 triumph in Friday's G1 bet365 Fillies' Mile back at the town's Rowley Mile venue. The 8-13 favourite was alert from the traps and was positioned in a close-up sixth through the early stages. Tanking forward to go second with three furlongs remaining, she was stirred into action at the foot of the hill and quickened in style to take control with 100 yards remaining, en route to a one-length success from long-time leader Novakai (GB) (Lope De Vega {Ire}), herself 4 3/4 lengths clear of 'TDN Rising Star' Bright Diamond (Ire) (El Kabeir) in third.

Commissioning, half to a yearling colt by Fastnet Rock (Aus), is the second of three foals and lone performer produced by a winning full-sister to G1 Irish Derby and G1 St Leger hero Capri (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), G3 Stanerra S.-winning G1 Irish Oaks and G1 British Champions Fillies & Mares third Passion (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and G3 Loughbrown S. victor Cypress Creek (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}). The April-foaled bay's second dam Dialafara (Fr) (Anabaa), herself a half-sister to G3 Prix de Conde runner-up Diaghan (Fr) (Lawman {Fr}), is a daughter of G2 Prix de Malleret and G3 Prix de la Nonette victrix and G1 Prix Vermeille runner-up Diamilina (Fr) (Linamix {Fr}). Diamilina, in turn, is kin to four black-type performers headed by G3 Prix La Rochette winner and multiple Group 1-placed sire Diamond Green (Fr) (Green Desert).

Classic Winner Westover To Stay In Training At Four

Classic winner Westover (GB) (Frankel {GB}) will remain in training at four, according to trainer Ralph Beckett. The Juddmonte homebred ran sixth in the G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe behind Alpinista (GB) (Frankel {GB}) on Sunday. The G3 bet365 Classic Trial at Sandown went his way in April and was then a running-on third in the G1 Derby in June. The bay blitzed the G1 Irish Derby field by seven lengths at the Curragh later that month and was fifth in Pyledriver (GB) (Harbour Watch {Ire})'s G1 King George VI And Queen Elizabeth S. at Ascot on July 23.

“Yes, that looks like happening,” Beckett confirmed on his star's pending 4-year-old campaign.

“I thought he ran close to his Irish Derby run, if not his Derby run, on ground which perhaps didn't play to his strengths, and it was great to get him back on track and that close to what his best is.

“He's a big horse, he's been growing through the year as well and he should improve from three to four. He's come out of the race really well, I'm really pleased with him and the way he's come out of it. We haven't made any plans yet, but I'm sure we will.”

Camelot’s Bluestocking A New Rising Star At Salisbury

Initiating a treble for the talent-rich Ralph Beckett juvenile team at Salisbury on Thursday, Juddmonte's Bluestocking (GB) (Camelot {GB}) sparkled on debut to earn TDN Rising Star status in the card's opener. Sent off a 9-1 shot for division one of the Byerley Stud British EBF Novice S. over a mile, the daughter of the operation's G1 Matron S. heroine Emulous (GB) (Dansili {GB}) was keen early for Rob Hornby buried mid-pack. At work with over two furlongs remaining, the homebred had to go to the far rail for a clear run and picked up impressively to reel in Amo Racing's similarly-unraced Tony Montana (GB) (Kingman {GB}) 100 yards out en route to a 1 1/4-length verdict over that promising grandson of the GI E. P. Taylor S. winner Fraulein (GB) (Acatenango {Ger}). There was another 1 1/2 lengths back to the Racingbreaks Ryder (Ire) (Fast Company {Ire}) in third, with that Charlie Hills trainee bringing solid novice form to the race.

She becomes the sixth TDN Rising Star for her sire and the second of his current 2-year-old crop alongside Ballydoyle's Alexandroupolis (Ire).

That continued success is the key to the sales enduring appeal to both domestic and international buyers and this year's catalogue has all the ingredients to appeal to the customary global audience including the significant, high-class consignments from Godolphin, Juddmonte Farms and Shadwell Estates.”
