Champagne Gold Brings £34,000 in ThoroughBid’s August Sale

Group 3-placed Champagne Gold (Ire) (Presenting {GB}) brought a final bid of £34,000 from Dan Astbury/Stockton Hall to top Thursday's ThoroughBid August Online sale. The 8-year-old gelding, catalogued as lot 19, raced last season for Henry de Bromhead and now goes into the hands of Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero.

“He has been bought for a long-standing owner at Oliver Greenall and Josh Guerriero's, with a view to go Hunter Chasing,” Astbury said. “He came highly recommended by a good friend and looks the ideal candidate to hopefully end up at one of the big hunter chases in the spring.

Overall, there was an 81% clearance rate for the 19 lots on offer, which included the complete dispersal of the racing and breeding stock belonging to W.A. Harrison-Allan, including the 5-year-old mare Undertheboardwalk (Ire) (Acclamation {GB}) (lot 8), who fetched £17,500 from Walk Syndicate.

“To have been entrusted with a dispersal was a big vote of confidence for us and we're delighted to have sold their whole consignment,” James Richardson, CEO of ThoroughBid, said.
