John and Thady Gosden to Share Licence Beginning This Season

Champion trainer John Gosden will train with his son, Thady, under a shared licence as soon as the younger Gosden's papers are approved by the British Horseracing Authority. Thady completed his training modules at the British Racing school and the duo's joint tenure is set to begin at Clarehaven this season. The news was confirmed to the Racing Post and was suggested on the TDN Writers' Room podcast on Feb 23.

“I'm lucky I have a son, Thaddeus who's very interested,” Gosden, who will be 70 this month, said on the podcast. “I have a great team working around me. I'm just very keen over the next two or three years to see the baton passed over, if you like. We're allowed now in this country to train two people on a licence like they do in Australia…Then hopefully by the time two or three years down the road, they simply won't need me around anymore.”

Lord North Bound For Dubai Turf

Group 1 winner Lord North (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) will step forward in the G1 Dubai Turf over 1800 metres on Mar. 27, Racing Post reported on Monday. Trainer John Gosden accepted an invitation for the race for the Sheikh Zayed bin Mohammed Racing colourbearer. A winner of the G1 Prince Of Wales's S. last June, the bay was third in the G1 Juddmonte Internatioanl S. a month later. Unplaced in the G1 QIPCO Champion S. on Oct. 17, he was a solid fourth in the GI Longines Breeders' Cup Turf on Nov. 7. Gosden will also be sending Saudi Cup winner Mishriff (Ire) (Make Believe {GB}) for the G1 Sheema Classic.

“Lord North has been invited to run in the Dubai Turf and he seems in good form at home so the plan would be for he and Mishriff to travel,” trainer John Gosden told the Racing Post. “Lord North goes well fresh and Mishriff seems to have come out of his Saudi Cup win in good shape, so it's all systems go for World Cup night.”

Saudi Cup Winner Mishriff Headed For Dubai; Returns To Turf In Sheema Classic

After his thrilling upset victory over Charlatan in the $20 million Saudi Cup on the dirt, Mishriff will return to the turf for the Dubai Sheema Classic on the Dubai World Cup undercard on Mar. 27, reports the Racing Post. The $4 million race is contested over 1 1/2 miles on the turf at Meydan Racecourse.

Trained by John Gosden, the 4-year-old son of Make Believe won the G1 Prix du Jockey Club and G2 Prix Guillaume d'Ornano on turf last summer.

Trainer John Gosden told the Racing Post: “This morning we've accepted an invitation for Mishriff to run in the Dubai Sheema Classic. He's a versatile horse and we've always wanted to try him over this trip of a mile and a half. This will then give him plenty of time for a break before tackling Royal Ascot in June and the Eclipse S. at Sandown the following month.”

Mishriff To Return To Turf In The Sheema Classic

Saudi Cup winner Mishriff (Ire) (Make Believe {GB}) will make his next appearance in the G1 Dubai Sheema Classic on Dubai World Cup night at Meydan on Mar. 27, Racing Post reports. After winning the world's richest race in his second try on the dirt, the 4-year-old Mishriff had been considered a leading candidate for the $12-million G1 Dubai World Cup, but he will instead return to the turf for the $6-million Sheema Classic and step up to a mile and a half for the first time. Mishriff won the G1 Prix du Jockey Club and G2 Prix Guillaume d'Ornano last summer.

Trainer John Gosden told Racing Post, “This morning we've accepted an invitation for Mishriff to run in the Dubai Sheema Classic. He's a versatile horse and we've always wanted to try him over this trip of a mile and a half.
