$1.1 Million Jackpot Guarantee In Sunday’s Rainbow 6 At Gulfstream

Gulfstream Park will end its New Year's weekend with a guaranteed gross jackpot pool in the 20-cent Rainbow 6 of $1.1 million.

Sunday's Rainbow 6 kicks off with a maiden special weight event at 7 ½ furlongs on the turf for 3-year-old fillies. The 11-horse field includes Stonestreet Stables LLC's Blythe Spirit, a $550,000 daughter of Ghostzapper trained by Jack Sisterson, and Courtlandt Farm's On Alert, a $500,000 daughter of Medaglia d'Oro trained by Shug McGaughey. Bill Mott will send out Godolphin LLC's homebred Marysvale, a daughter of Malibu Moon.

The final leg of the sequence will be a maiden special weight event at a mile on the turf for 3-year-olds. Royal Spirit, a son of Into Mischief second in the Nownownow and fourth in the Awad, goes out for Repole Stable and St Elias Stable and trainer Todd Pletcher. Phipps Stable's Grand Cay and Juddmonte's Coleridge, both sons of Uncle Mo, make their debut as does Godolphin's Field Marshall, a son of War Front.

The Rainbow 6 jackpot is paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.
