Gulfstream Park West Rainbow 6 Hit For $249,204

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 was solved Sunday at Gulfstream Park West in Miami Gardens, Fla., for a jackpot payoff of $249,204.

The popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the first 11 racing days of the Fall Turf Festival before a single unique ticket was purchased with the 3-8-6-8-7-13 winning combination Sunday.

Galit Jak ($4,60) kicked off the Rainbow 6 sequence in Race 4, followed by Myfirstexwife ($64.40), Running for Riz ($32.60), I Get It ($19.20), She's All Woman ($6.40). Shendam ($9.20), one of nine 'live' horses in a 12-horse field, completed the jackpot-winning ticket.

The carryover jackpot is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

The Rainbow 6 will start anew Wednesday.

There will be a Super Hi-5 carryover of $2,342,35 heading into Wednesday's program.

Miss Auramet Makes Triumphant Return to Gulfstream West
Miss Auramet made a triumphant return to Gulfstream Park West Sunday, validating her 3-5 favoritism with a thoroughly professional 1 1/2-length triumph in the Race 3 feature, a five-furlong optional claiming allowance for fillies and mares on turf.

The Eddie Plesa Jr.-trained 4-year-old filly, who spent a productive summer in the Mid-Atlantic with trainer Jorge Duarte Jr., won her seventh race in 16 career starts while capturing her third-straight victory. The daughter of Uncaptured, who is owned by Laurie Plesa, Leon Ellman and David Melin, was coming off back-to-back off-the-turf victories at Delaware Park and Laurel Park.

Miss Auramet pressed the pace set by Hear My Prayer, who cut fractions of 21.96 and 44.68 seconds for the first half-mile, before drawing away in the stretch to compete the five furlongs over a 'good' course in 57.50 seconds under Edgard Zayas.

Prior to shipping out of town, the versatile Miss Auramet had scored three-straight victories, two on turf and one on a sloppy main track, during Gulfstream Park's Championship Meet.

Early Sunday morning, Reeves Thoroughbred Racing's Isolate breezed six furlongs in 1:13 at Gulfstream Park in preparation for a likely stakes start next time out.

The Kathy Ritvo-trained 2-year-old son of Mark Valeski is undefeated in two very impressive starts, including a Aug. 6 debut victory in which he won going away after being checked hard in traffic on the turn into the homestretch. Third-place finisher Poppy's Pride came back to break his maiden by 8 ¼ lengths and capture the off-the-turf Armed Forces Stakes.

Isolate did just that in his second start Sept. 12, scoring by 10 lengths while running six furlongs in 1:10.97.

Paco Lopez Back in Action at GPW Wednesday
Jockey Paco Lopez, who, like Miss Auramet, spend a productive summer in the Mid-Atlantic, is slated to make his 2020 debut at Gulfstream Park West Wednesday.

Lopez, who celebrated his 35th birthday Sunday, has been named to ride in five races Wednesday. The Veracruz, Mexico, native, who won his seventh riding title at Monmouth Park this year, captured the 2019 riding title at Gulfstream Park West while riding full time there.

Mandatory Payouts Sunday At Golden Gate Fields Include $329,496 Jackpot Pick 6 Pool

Mandatory payouts will be sprinkled throughout the Sunday afternoon card at Golden Gate Fields in Albany, Calif., with the aforementioned payouts set to take place in the Golden Pick Six, the Rolling Super High Five and both the Early and Late Pick 5 wagers. First post on Sunday is 1:15 PM PT.

The headliner on Sunday is the mandatory payout of the Golden Pick Six jackpot wager, a 20-cent minimum bet. Heading into the Sunday program, the current pool sits at $329,496. With the entire pool to be paid out, horseplayers can expect a seven-figure “new money” pool to be added into the already large Pick Six pot. The first leg of the sequence goes as Race 5, with post time for the first race of the sequence set at 3:27 PM PT. There were 48 horses entered in the six-race sequence.

Three of the races in Sunday's Golden Pick Six sequence are turf routes. The fourth leg, Race 8, appears as an appealing handicapping puzzle. A 5 1/2-furlong maiden special weight sprint on Tapeta for 2-year-old fillies, Race 8 drew a full field of 12 entrants. Leading trainer Jonathan Wong saddles a pair of contenders as do top Golden Gate conditioners Steve Sherman, Isidro Tamayo and Blaine Wright. The feature race of the day, Race 9, is an allowance for 3-year-old fillies, featuring the rapidly improving Sadie Bluegrass and the Michael McCarthy trained Woke Up To Aces from Southern California.

The 50-cent Early Pick 5, which links the first five races each day, is a player-friendly 14% takeout wager. The 50-cent Late Pick 5, on the other hand, consists of the last five races each day. The $1 Rolling Super High Five, which gives bettors the task of correctly tabbing the first five finishers in a race, will have a mandatory payout in the final race of the day, Race 10.

Race 9 at Golden Gate is the second leg of the Golden Hour Pick 4 wager, a 15% takeout wager linking the last two races at Santa Anita and the last two races at Golden Gate. The finale at Golden Gate, Race 10, is the second leg of the $5 minimum Golden Hour Double, a Daily Double wager which compliments the Golden Hour Pick 4 and combines the final race at Santa Anita with the nightcap at Golden Gate.

Bodexpress Romps At GP West; Sunday’s Rainbow 6 Jackpot Has $275,000 Guarantee

If Bodexpress had never left the confines of Gulfstream Park West, might Thoroughbred racing's most popular bad boy be undefeated?

The ultra-talented but often-erratic 4-year-old colt turned in a thoroughly professional performance Saturday, scoring his third win in as many starts at Gulfstream Park West in Miami Gardens, Fla., while missing the track record for 1 1/16 miles by .01 seconds. The son of Bodemeister registered a front-running 11 1/4 -length victory in 1:42.53, just off Mr. Jordan's Nov. 12, 2016, track record of 1:42.52, in the featured Race 9, an optional claiming allowance for 3-year-olds and up.

Owned by Global Thoroughbreds LLC, Top Racing LLC and trainer Gustavo Delgado's GDS Racing Stable, Bodexpress is stabled at Gulfstream Park West when he's not traveling to stakes engagements. He broke his maiden in his eighth career start Oct. 14, 2019, and came right back to capture an allowance five weeks later, setting a track record for a mile. He would likely have set a track record for 1 1/16 miles had Emisael Jaramillo put any pressure at all on the Kentucky-bred colt.

'We kind of expected a race like that, actually, because he was training so good,” said Delgado's son and assistant trainer, Gustavo Delgado Jr.

Bodexpress, the 2-5 favorite, went right to the front and set fractions of 24.56 and 48.02 seconds for the first half-mile before completing six furlongs in 1:11.75 and finishing with plenty of energy.

“He's been behaving himself lately. I say, 'Lately,'' Delgado Jr. said. “You can see the change. He's more mature. I'm not even worried about it. Today, I said, 'Do your thing, I don't even care.' He behaved like a pro.”

Bodexpress has provided some anxious moments for his connections while away from Gulfstream Park West while also showing flashes of unfulfilled potential with a few graded-stakes placings. Bodexpress finished second as a maiden behind Maximum Security in the 2019 Florida Derby (G1) at Gulfstream to earn a start in the Kentucky Derby (G1), in which he finished 14^th after a rough journey. In the Preakness Stakes (G1), he unseated jockey John Velazquez when he reared in the starting gate and led the outrider on a merry chase during the race.

“We'll keep him happy and healthy. He'll win one of the big ones,” Gustavo Jr. said.

Bodexpress will be pointed to stakes during Gulfstream's 2020-2021 Championship Meet, including the $3 million Pegasus World Cup (G1) Jan. 23. Another trip to Churchill Downs before then for the Clark (G1) Nov. 27 is a possibility.

”We have a lot of options. We won't dismiss the race at Churchill, because we know he likes Churchill,” Delgado Jr. said.

Identifier, who upset Bodemeister at 60-1 in the Hal's Hope, finished second while never a factor. Glory of Florida finished another 2 3/4 lengths back in third.

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool will be guaranteed at $275,000 on Sunday's program at Gulfstream Park West.

Sunday's Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 4-9, featuring a mile optional claiming allowance for 2-year-olds scheduled for the turf in Race 7. Michael Maker-trained Fulmini is rated as the 7-5 morning-line favorite. The son of Overdriven most recently finished second in the off-the-turf Armed Forces at Gulfstream, where he broke his maiden in his second lifetime start at five furlongs on turf and finished finishing a troubled fourth in the Proud Man Stakes at a mile on turf. Edgard Zayas has the return mount.

In Race 6, Royal Squeeze, a multiple-stakes winner with more than $600,000 earnings, drops back into claiming company for the six-furlong sprint for $40,000 claimers. The Elizabeth Dobles-trained 9-year-old gelding, who captured the Claiming Crown Rapid Transit at the start of the 2019-2020 Championship Meet at Gulfstream, has been racing competitively in stakes and optional claiming in recent years.

Earlier on the program, Miss Auramet is rated as the 6-5 morning-line favorite for her return to South Florida in Race 3, an optional claiming allowance for fillies and mares scheduled for five-furlongs on turf. Trained by Eddie Plesa Jr. for wife, Laurie, Leon Ellman and David Melin, the 4-year-old daughter of uncaptured has had a very productive summer in the Mid-Atlantic under the care of trainer Jorge Duarte Jr. Miss Auramet is coming off back-to-back allowance wins at Laurel Park and Delaware Park. Prior to her summer adventure up north, Plesa saddled Miss Auramet for three victories in a row at Gulfstream two on turf and the other on the main track. Zayas has the call.

At odds of 14-1, a 3-year-old maiden daughter of the late Unusual Heat helped key a massive $450,706.96 payout in Friday's 20 cent Single Ticket Rainbow Pick 6 Jackpot at Santa Anita in Arcadia, Calif.

Purchased for $307.20 through Xpressbet.com, the single winning ticket holder had to be feeling good at the top of the stretch, as New Heat, ridden by Abel Cedillo and trained by Anthony Saavedra, enjoyed a 1 1/2-length advantage, seconds later, that margin shrank precipitously, as New Heat held on to win by a diminishing neck at the wire.

Unhittable through the first 10 days of Santa Anita's current Autumn Meet, there was a Rainbow 6 jackpot carryover from Monday of $364,453. With $113,020 in new money wagered Friday, the total jackpot pool reached $477,473 by third race post time.

First post time for a 10-race card on Saturday is at 1 p.m. Saturday's Single Ticket Jackpot Pick Six will start with race five, which has an assigned post time of 3:11 p.m. PT.
