ITBA Schedules 2022 Summer Series

Following the 'Ask the Expert' Series, the ITBA presents the next portion of its 2022 Educational Programme, the Summer Series. The workshops commence at the end of May and continues through the month of June and will cover a wide range of topics, including equine health and workplace practices. All workshops will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. (local time) with all fees having been waived.

Summer Series Topics:

  • Equine Biosecurity – 30 May/31 May
  • Equine Colic and Gut Health – 1 June/2 June
  • Equine First Aid – 7 June/8 June
  • Importance of Health & Wellbeing in the Workplace – 20 June
  • Introduction to Industry Careers & Pathways – 21 June
  • Equine Anatomy & Physiology – 23 June/24 June

2022 ITBA Educational Programme To Launch In May

The 2022 Irish Thoroughbred Breeders' Association Educational programme is being finalised following the confirmation that Ireland's Department of Agriculture will pledge to support and co-fund the initiative. The programme will run from May to December.

The ITBA will partner with the Irish Equine Centre, HRI's Equuip and Weatherbys, among others, to oversee the programme. In addition, the ITBA will work closely with industry experts as well as industry stakeholders to deliver a wide and diverse programme of topics through the four pillars of its educational programme: Ask The Experts, Summer Series, Preparation Series and Autumn/Winter Series. Some of the subjects to be offered include:

  • Benefits of the Weatherbys E-Passport (New equine digital lifetime document)
  • Educational Supports and Pathways
  • Equine Anatomy & Physiology
  • Equine Biosecurity
  • Equine Colic and Gut Health
  • Equine First Aid
  • Health & Safety
  • Parasite Control
  • Stud Farm Biosecurity
  • Use of Probiotics in Equines
  • Foal Sales Preparation
  • Yearling Sales Preparation
  • Breeding Season Preparation

Whenever possible, the lectures and workshops will be either QQI or Veterinary Council of Ireland accredited.

ITBA's Kerry Ryan said, “We are delighted to be commencing the roll out of our 2022 suite of educational offerings, the first taking place in early May, details of which will be announced in the coming days, so stay tuned. We are looking forward to teaming up with Weatherbys to highlight and promote the new digital passport system.”
