Grade 1 Winners Guarana, Carina Mia Among ‘Special’ Joint Offerings At Fasig-Tipton November Sale

Three Chimneys Farm and Hill 'n' Dale Sales Agency announced Thursday a joint offering to dissolve a partnership comprised of a truly elite group of mares and foals selling at The November Sale at Fasig-Tipton.

The offering includes 3 time Grade 1 Winner Guarana in foal to Into Mischief. The daughter of Horse of the Year Ghostzapper burst onto the scene with a 14 3/4 length romp at first asking. She captured the Grade 1 Acorn in stakes record time, in only her second start, drawing off by 6, defeating Kentucky Oaks winner Serengetti Empress. She landed the second of three legs of the New York Filly Triple Tiara in the CCA Oaks in her next start. The third Grade 1 win for the Three Chimneys homebred came in the Madison at Keeneland over Mia Mischief. A model of consistency, she compiled a record of five wins and a second from six starts.

Guarana's dam, Magical World who sells as hip 203, is also the dam of Stakes Winner and Graded Stakes placed Magic Dance, as well as recent winner Beatbox, who sold as a yearling for $2 Million. Magical World sells in foal to Into Mischief as well.

Another Three Chimneys raced Grade 1 Acorn winner is Carina Mia, the millionaire daughter of Malibu Moon set a track record in her maiden win, romping by 9 3/4 lengths. She sells in foal to Uncle Mo.

A true highlight of the offering is Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies winner and Eclipse Champion 2-year-old filly Take Charge Brandi, who sells in foal to Uncle Mo as well. The daughter of Giant's Causeway, a half sister to Omaha Beach, is out of a daughter of Broodmare of the Year Take Charge Lady.

“This is a unique group of mares,” said John G. Sikura, President of Hill 'n' Dale Farms. “All are either champions, Grade 1 winners or Grade 1 producers in foal to leading sires Into Mischief and Uncle Mo. Deep foundational pedigrees, brilliance on the racetrack and siblings by sires such as Curlin, Gun Runner and Quality Road which we retained bolster these outstanding pages.

“With these retained sons and daughters, we felt the time was now to enter a vibrant marketplace with a unique group with stellar resumés. The marketplace craves special and these mares are very special.”

“Three Chimneys is a strong believer in partnerships. John and I are both buyers and sellers in the market and we both have collectively retained significant members of the families so in light of the extraordinary strength of the current market we agreed to offer this group at Fasig-Tipton,” said Gonçalo Torrealba, owner of Three Chimneys.

GISW Mischevious Alex to JBBA Shizunai

GISW Mischevious Alex (Into Mischief–White Pants Night, by Speightstown) had been retired from racing and will stand at JBBA Shizunai Stallion Station in Japan. The 4-year-old will be exported to the Hokkaido Island-based stud early in November. A stud fee will be established at a later date.

Trained by John Servis and campaigned by Cash Is King LLC at two, the bay won two of five starts, including the Parx Juvenile. Victorious in the GIII Swale S. and GIII Gotham S. early in his sophomore season, he was subsequently transferred to Saffie Joseph Jr. after LC Racing secured a stake in the colt. The winner of a pair of starts at Gulfstream for new connections, including the six-furlong GIII Gulfstream Park Sprint, the WinStar Farm-bred recorded his biggest career win in the GI Carter H. at Aqueduct. Third in Belmont's GI Met Mile later that June, he finished off the board in his final two starts against Grade I company. He retired with seven wins from 15 starts and earnings of $734,355.

Into Mischief Filly Continues Upward Trajectory in Zenyatta

Lightly raced Private Mission handled older foes with aplomb Sunday, earning a guaranteed spot in the starting gate for the GI Breeders' Cup Distaff in the process. A debut winner sprinting here nearly a year ago, the bay was a speed-and-fade fourth at odds-on in the following month's Desi Arnaz S. at Del Mar and subsequently went missing. She reappeared to annex a local optional claimer in June, and took to two turns emphatically when romping by 6 1/2 lengths in Del Mar's GIII Torrey Pines S. Aug. 21.

Keeping longshot Samurai Charm (First Samurai) in her sights early, the bay took a clear advantage entering the home bend and looked like the winner every step of the way after that. As Time Goes By completed the exacta and a big weekend for Bob Baffert that also included victories in the GI Awesome Again S. and GI American Pharoah S.

“I'm happy to run one-two,” Baffert said. “Private Mission, I'm glad I stayed home with her. I decided this would be best for her with the Breeders' Cup in mind, we didn't want to stress her.  She's on the improve, getting better and better. I'm really happy with the way both fillies ran.”

Private Mission was scratched out of last Saturday's GI Cotillion S. at Parx.

“She broke well and got herself into the race,” jockey Flavien Prat said of his winning trip. “She relaxed well and took a nice breather going to the three eighths pole and ran good when I asked her to make her move. I thought this race was better than last time, for sure.”

Pedigree Notes:
Private Mission is one of 45 graded stakes winners for leading sire Into Mischief–three of which have been out of Unbridled mares, led by champion female sprinter Covfefe. Important broodmare sire Unbridled is responsible for the dams of 43 graded winners, including the likes of Tapit, Orb and Shackleford.

The winner's dam was a two-turn stakes winner on the dirt at Louisiana Downs. A half-sister to 2000 GI Kentucky Oaks heroine Secret Status (A.P. Indy), she sold to Greg Goodman's Mt. Brilliant for $2.3 million while in foal to A.P. Indy at the 2008 Fasig-Tipton November sale. Another A.P. Indy daughter of Private Gift, MSW and GSP Secret Someone, was represented by a $1-million Into Mischief colt that sold to Mike Ryan at the recent Keeneland September sale. Private Gift's daughter Gift List (Bernardini) is the dam of GISW Dunbar Road (Quality Road), who is expected to contest next Saturday's GI Juddmonte Spinster S., another prep for the Distaff.

Private Gift's 2-year-old filly Batik (Honor Code), a $240,000 KEESEP grad, has been working regularly at Monmouth Park. The 19-year-old mare was given a year off after foaling Batik, but produced a Candy Ride (Arg) colt Apr. 1 and was bred back to Uncle Mo.
