Stallions To Parade At Irish National Stud Next Week

The 2024 seven-strong stallion roster at the Irish National Stud will parade daily while the Goffs February Sale is going on, the INS announced on Saturday. Parades, featuring stallions like Group 1 sire Invincible Spirit (Ire), Phoenix Of Spain (Ire) who has his first 3-year-olds this year, and Classic winner Mac Swiney (Ire), will take place at the stud on Feb. 6-8 from 11-3 p.m. each day. 2023 Irish National Stud Course Begins With 27 Trainees

A total of 27 students arrived at the Irish National Stud to begin the 2023 Thoroughbred Breeding Management course earlier this week. The six-month course will participate in a wide variety of activities, practical training and lectures which will provide a solid foundation for their progression in the Thoroughbred industry.

Eight countries are represented, and the trainees are as follows: Sean Berns (Ireland), Ailish Sinnott (Ireland), Faustine Otero-Chinot (France), Orla Queally (Ireland), Annelie Rodde (Germany), Alice Jeffries (New Zealand), Georgina Macintyre (Australia), Morgan Wilks (New Zealand), Darcie Murray (Ireland), Emma Hunter (Ireland), Dayna Walsh (UK), Aoife Boland (Ireland), Hilda Ntlateng (South Africa), Julia Coenen (France), Maƫl Thilbault (France), Lachlan Bruce (Australia), Thomas Connolly (Ireland), Charles Shanahan (Ireland), William Macdonald (Australia), Scott Innes (Scotland), Jarrod Robinson (Australia), Gerrard Donworth (Ireland), Brian Banahan (USA), Ciaran Phelan (Ireland), Rory Woods (Ireland), Ciara Russell (Ireland), and Robert Acheson (Ireland).

2022 INS Class Graduates

The 2022 Irish National Stud Thoroughbred Breeding Management Course graduated in Tully on Tuesday. A total of 30 students from seven countries were awarded their certificates, with INS Chairman Matt Dempsey addressing the gathered guests, as well as CEO Cathal Beale.

Theresa O'Donoghue was awarded the Gold Medal, while the Silver Medal went to Alexander Sausville, representing Ireland and the USA, respectively. Freddie Morley of England earned the INS Jonathan Fitzpatrick Internship, which will begin in July, while Mathilde Baurens of France earned the highest score in the Equine Business exam. The Continuous Assessment award went to Hayley Ashcroft of the UK. Newmarket's Annie O'Rourke was the recipient of the Irish Field “Blue Hen” Award, a cheque for ā‚¬250 and a trophy by Leo Powell for her article on blue hen broodmares which will subsequently be published in The Irish Field. Other awards were presented to Rachel Harvey, UK for Best Portfolio of Assignments, Annie O'Rourke winner of the Dr. Sieglinde McGee Award, Freddie Morley, Veterinary Award. Two new awards were presented this year, The Goffs Internship was awarded to Jack Blake, Laois, while the ITBA Next Generation Award went to Anna Cahill, Kildare.

INS Launches a New Sales Preparation Course

A new two-week sales preparation course will begin in July at the Irish National Stud. Designed to allow candidates to participate in a one-week intensive yearling preparation programme before joining an employer for the yearling preparation season, a follow-up week of training will take place in October and will concentrate on foal sales preparation. There will also be a series of evening lectures provided by industry experts.
