Half To Toormore Debuts At Doncaster

Observations on the European Racing Scene turns the spotlight on the best European races of the day, highlighting well-pedigreed horses early in their careers, horses of note returning to action and young runners that achieved notable results in the sales ring. Thursday's Observations features a half-brother to juvenile Group 1 winner Toormore (Ire) (Arakan).

15.10 Doncaster, Mdn, £6,800, 2yo, 6f 2yT
POINT GIVEN (IRE) (Blue Point {Ire}) has the pedigree to be a smart juvenile, being a half-brother to the G1 Vincent O'Brien National S. and G2 Vintage S. winner Toormore (Ire) (Arakan) and the G2 Champagne S. and G2 Superlative S. scorer Estidhkaar (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}). Out relatively early for one of Sir Michael Stoute, Saeed Suhail's 270,000gns Book 1 purchase meets fellow newcomer Speeding Bullet (Ire) (Inns Of Court {Ire}), King Power Racing's half-brother to the G2 Flying Childers S. winner Caturra (Ire) (Mehmas {Ire}) who hails from the Richard Hannon stable.

16.55 Doncaster, Novice, £8,000, 3yo/up, 6f 2yT
PRIMEVAL (GB) (Lope De Vega {Ire}) is an intriguing Juddmonte debutante for the Harry and Roger Charlton stable, being the 10th foal out of the G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud winner Passage Of Time (GB) (Dansili {GB}). That makes her a half-sister to the accomplished multiple group-winning sire on the up Time Test (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) and the dual Group 3 winner Tempus (GB) (Kingman {GB}), so while this is a touch late to be making her racecourse bow she has the raw material to make a splash if she shows ability here.
