Mishriff, Mystic Guide Top Longines World Rankings

After impressive displays during the Dubai World Cup card, Mishriff (Ire) (Make Believe {GB}) and TDN Rising Star Mystic Guide (Ghostzapper) share the top spot with a 122 ranking in the second edition of the Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings for 2021. The rankings are compiled by the Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings Committee and published by the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA).

Mishriff, who led the rankings following his victory in the Saudi Cup, switched back to turf and won the G1 Dubai Sheema Classic next time out. Joining Mishriff at the top with a win in the G1 Dubai World Cup, Mystic Guide came into the race having won Oaklawn Park's GIII Razorback H. earlier this season.

Joining Australia's Nature Strip (Aus) (Nicconi {Aus}) at 121 in the co-third spot is Eduardo (Aus) (Host {Chi}), who is a perfect two-for-two this season. Eduardo defeated Nature Strip by a short head in the G2 Hyland Race Colours Challenge S. and then went on to win the G1 Bisley Workwear Galaxy.

TDN Rising Star Charlatan (Speightstown), winner of last December's GI Malibu S. at Santa Anita, is ranked in co-fifth at 120. The chestnut finished second behind Mystic Guide in the Feb. 20 G1 Saudi Cup. Also among those co-ranked in fifth at 120, TDN Rising Star Life Is Good (Into Mischief), Lord North (Ire) who entered the top five after winning the G1 Dubai Turf and Hong Kong's 2020 Horse of the Year Exultant (Ire) (Teofilo {Ire}) and Golden Sixty (Aus) (Medaglia d'Oro), two for two in Group 1 company in Hong Kong this season.

Classic Hero Mishriff on Top of Longines WBRR

Saudi Cup hero and MG1SW Mishriff (Ire) (Make Believe {GB}) stands on top of the Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings, which were released by the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities on Thursday. The John Gosden trainee and French Classic winner was rated 122, two better than Saudi Cup runner-up Charlatan (Speightstown) at 120. Australian sprinter Nature Strip (Aus) (Nicconi {Aus}) sits second on the list at 121 after winning the G1 Lightning S. in February.

Rated equal to Charlatan are the Hong Kong-based duo of Exultant (Ire) (Teofilo {Ire}) and Golden Sixty (Aus) (Medaglia d'Oro). Already a winner of the G1 Stewards' Cup over Southern Legend (Aus) (Not A Single Doubt {Aus}) (118) and Ka Ying Star (GB) (Cityscape {GB}) (117) in January, Golden Sixty then defeated Furore (NZ) (Pierro {Aus}) (117) and Exultant in the G1 Citi Hong Kong Gold Cup in February.

Several horses are ranked a co-sixth, among them GI Pegasus World Cup winner Knicks Go (Paynter) at 119 and GII San Felipe S. hero Life Is Good (Into Mischief). The G1 Cape Town Met presented by Cape Racing victor Rainbow Bridge (SAf) (Ideal World) is also at a mark of 119.

Virtual Longines Awards On Tuesday

The Longines World Racing Awards ceremony will take place virtually on Tuesday, Jan. 26 beginning at 2 p.m. GMT/9 a.m. EST. Francesca Cumani will host the show, which will be released on multiple digital platforms including the social media accounts of Longines, the IFHA and World Horse Racing, from the National Horse Racing Museum in Newmarket.

The ceremony will reveal the highest-rated horses in the Longines World's Best Racehorse Rankings in 2020, as well as the Longines World's Best Horse Race for 2020. The 2020 Longines World's Best Jockey, Frankie Dettori, will also be honoured during the ceremony.

JRA Named Official Partner of the IFHA Conference

The Japan Racing Association (JRA) is the new official partner of the 55th International Conference of Horseracing Authorities. The conference, which is normally held in October, is organised by the International Federation of Horseracing Authorities (IFHA). The JRA will promote Japanese racing on the www.ifhaonline.org and social media channels, while the partnership is also expected to further development of international horse racing and international cooperation.

“We are pleased to have the JRA become our partner for the Federation’s signature conference,” said IFHA Chairman Louis Romanet. “Our conference, which traditionally is held in Paris, was virtual in 2020 due to COVID-19, but we are hopeful that it will be able to return to its traditional format this year.”

“The JRA is delighted to be the partner of the International Conference of Horseracing Authorities,” said JRA President and CEO Masayuki Goto. “For more than 50 years, the International Horse Racing Conference has played a major role in the development of the global horse racing industry and enables delegates from all over the world, as well as a number of other racing executives, to exchange information, provide mutual assistance and promote joint research. By becoming a partner of the historical IFHA Conference, JRA hopes to contribute to the further development of international horse racing.”
