Golden Gate Fields: Mandatory Payouts On Sunday’s Closing-Day Program

The Sunday, June 11, live race program at Golden Gate Fields in Albany, Calif., marks the final card of the bayside track's 2023 Winter/Spring meet. First post is 1:15 p.m. Pacific. With closing day comes mandatory payouts in four bets: the Golden Pick 6, both Pick 5 wagers, and the Rolling Super High Five.

The Golden Pick 6 is a 20-cent minimum bet and features the last six races on any given race card. The sequence on Sunday goes as Races 5 through 10. Heading into Friday's card, the Golden Pick 6 jackpot carryover sits at $35,904. If there fails to be a single ticket jackpot winner on Friday or Saturday – meaning a lone ticket hits all six winners in the Pick 6 – then the carryover amount will be even greater come mandatory payout Sunday. A mandatory payout would still be in play even if a single ticket winner took down the Pick 6 jackpot on Friday and or Saturday.

The Early Pick 5 and Late Pick 5 sequences are also mandatory payout wagers on Sunday. The Early Pick 5 consists of the first five races (Races 1-5) on the card while the Late Pick 5 is comprised of the last five races (Races 6-10). Both Pick 5 sequences are 50-cent minimum plays.

Rounding out the list of mandatory payout bets on Sunday is the last Rolling High Five wager of the day. The Rolling High Five tasks horseplayers with correctly tabbing the first five finishers in order. The Rolling High Five is only offered in races where there are seven or more official starters. On Sunday, the tenth and last race of the day has eight starters. If two defections were to occur in Race 10, then the Rolling High Five mandatory payout race would be Race 9, which attracted a field of nine.

The signature race on Closing Day Sunday is Race 7, the inaugural $75,000 Dream of Summer Stakes for California-bred or sired fillies and mares 3-years-old and upward at 5 furlongs on turf. Among the main contenders are stakes winners Chancery Way, Sadie Bluegrass, and Sassy Nature. Race 7 kicks off the popular Late Pick 4 wager.

NYRA: Sunday’s All-Turf Cross Country Pick 5 Features Racing From Belmont, Monmouth, Woodbine

The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) will host a Cross Country Pick 5 on Sunday featuring racing from Belmont Park, Monmouth Park and Woodbine Racetrack.

The Cross Country Pick 5 requires bettors to pick the winner of five select races from tracks across the country. The minimum bet for the multi-track, multi-race wager is 50 cents. Wagering on the Cross Country Pick 5 is available on ADW platforms and at simulcast facilities across the country with each week featuring a mandatory payout of the net pool. The Cross Country Pick 5, boasting a low 15 percent takeout, offers sequences with races from Belmont Park and partner tracks across the country.

The sequence begins in Race 6 from Belmont Park at 3:40 p.m. Eastern with a nine-furlong inner turf starter allowance for fillies and mares 3-years-old and up. The Bill Morey-trained Always Laughing looks to notch her third consecutive win after a seventh-out graduation and follow-up win in a $30,000 claiming event in March. She will face a competitive field that includes Cumberland Falls, a 3-year-old who broke her maiden against elders in May at Monmouth for trainer Kent Sweezey, and the Bruce Brown-trained From Hello, who finished second in this condition in each of her last two outings.

The second leg features juvenile fillies contesting a five-furlong maiden on Belmont's Widener turf course in Race 7 [4:12 p.m.]. The well-bred Kodiac Wintergreen debuts for conditioner Rusty Arnold off a string of works at Churchill Downs. The Irish-bred daughter of Kodiac is a half-sister to multiple stakes-winner Love Reigns. Trainer Ben Colebrook saddles one of three horses in the field who have made a start in Yellow Sun Dress, who was defeated a half-length when fourth on debut in an off-the-turf sprint in April at Keeneland.

Action heads north to Woodbine for the middle leg in Race 7 [4:25 p.m.], a seven-furlong turf optional claimer for 3-year-olds and up. The Great Oz looks to avenge a head defeat in this condition on May 21 over the Tapeta at the Toronto oval. He earned a 90 Beyer Speed Figure for trainer Martin Drexler and is in search of his first win since September. The wide-open field includes the dual graded stakes-placed Proven Strategies for Hall of Fame conditioner Mark Casse, stakes-winner Hicksy, who enters from a pair of local claiming victories for trainer Kevin Attard, and Grandson, who takes a step down in class after an off-the-board finish in the restricted Steady Growth in December for trainer John LeBlanc, Jr.

The penultimate leg sees action from the Jersey Shore as a field of nine assemble for a 5 1/2-furlong turf allowance for 3-year-olds and up in Race 9 [4:40 p.m.] at Monmouth. The Michael Trombetta-trained Biz Biz Buzz has finished on-the-board in each of his last five outings, including a win two starts back in a Florida-bred optional claimer at Gulfstream Park. His good form will be challenged by the improving Tapio, who finished second in a dead heat with the stakes-placed American Speed in a May 20 allowance at Pimlico Race Course for trainer Michael Stidham. Two Steppin Kluki cuts back from one-mile as he looks to notch his fourth lifetime victory for trainer John Pimental.

The sequence concludes with graded action from Belmont in Race 10 [5:50 p.m.], the Grade 2, $200,000 Wonder Again for sophomore fillies going nine furlongs on the inner turf. Hall of Fame trainer Shug McGaughey saddles Allamericanbeauty off a closing half-length victory in a first-level allowance in April at Keeneland where she went from nearly last-to-first under Frankie Dettori. Four-time Eclipse Award-winning trainer Chad Brown sends out the formidable triad of dual graded stakes-placed Revalita and maiden winners Prerequisite and Venencia, while the undefeated Spansive, winner of both her career outings, looks to keep her perfect record intact for Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher.

‘Both Entertaining And Informative’: Equibase Introduces Free AI Statlines

Through a partnership with Pramana Labs, a natural language AI technology company, Equibase Company today announced the introduction of Statlines available within the entries section of equibase.com. Statlines are free to use and provide unique insights about horses, jockeys, and trainers entered to run for every track and race across the country.

Users can access the free Statlines within the entries section of equibase.com. The available Statlines can be filtered by tags such as jockey, trainer, jockey/trainer combination, horses to watch, exotic wagers, and track alerts.

“Our partnership with Pramana is helping Equibase deliver the type of data in a similar manner as we see with other major sports,” said Equibase Vice President of Data Operations and Digital Services Chris Dawahare. “The Statlines being generated by Pramana Labs are creating content for literally every race at every Thoroughbred track every single day, and the data is both entertaining and informative for wagering.”

The Statlines link is located to the right of each race entry, next to two other free tools: Entries Plus, which provides basic racing performance information in an interactive, easy-to-digest format, and Smart Pick, which creates suggested wagering tickets based on a set of user preferences.

In partnership with Equibase, Pramana Labs has also developed an API (application programming interface) offering these advanced data-querying capabilities so that industry stakeholders such as media partners, racetracks, and online wagering companies can provide this same content to their respective bettors and audiences.

“The AI technology that Pramana provides coupled with Equibase's vast database has been the perfect partnership,” said Corey Patton, Pramana Labs CEO. “Our system's direct, natural language querying of massive amounts of horse racing data far surpasses previous technologies, allowing fans to tap into a rich dataset in ways that until now weren't available.”

As Air Quality Ratings Improve, Live Racing For Belmont, Woodbine, Laurel Is On

The New York Racing Association distributed the following statement Friday morning:

Following significant improvement in air quality conditions throughout New York State, and in consultation with the New York State Gaming Commission (NYSGC), the New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) announced that live racing will resume at Belmont Park today at 12:50 p.m.

Friday's 11-race card, which is highlighted by five graded stakes, raises the curtain on the 2023 Belmont Stakes Racing Festival after poor air quality forced the cancelation of Thursday's twilight racing program and the closure of Belmont and Saratoga Race Course for training.

In addition to the resumption of live racing, both Belmont and Saratoga re-opened for training earlier this morning. Moving forward, NYRA will continue to actively monitor air quality conditions and forecasts to ensure the environment remains safe for racing participants and fans this weekend.

The 155th running of the Grade 1, $1.5 million Belmont Stakes presented by NYRA Bets headlines a blockbuster card of racing on Saturday, June 10, which will include nine graded stakes in total. First post on Saturday is 11:20 a.m.

Woodbine issued this statement Friday:

Woodbine Entertainment has announced that live racing will resume this afternoon (June 9) at Woodbine Racetrack.

With the air quality health index for the Toronto area forecasted as 'moderate-risk' for Friday, June 9, Woodbine will proceed with this afternoon's card of live racing. This decision is consistent with the guidelines the AGCO issued earlier this week.

Live Standardbred racing will also resume tonight at Woodbine Mohawk Park (Milton, Ontario).

As of Friday morning, the air-quality health index is forecasted to further improve into Saturday. Woodbine will continue to monitor the weather forecast and provide any updates as required.

Post time for today's card at Woodbine Racetrack is 1:10 p.m.

According to a tweet from Georganne Hale, vice president of racing development for the Maryland Jockey Club, training will go on as usual at Laurel and Pimlico today, with live racing planned at Laurel.
