StableDuel Launches #PlayRaceAdopt Campaign To Raise Awareness And Money For Retired Racehorses

StableDuel, Thoroughbred racing's newest game, has declared September its “Aftercare Month” and has teamed up with the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (TAA) and the Retired Racehorse Project (RRP). With two initiatives, the exciting brand wants to shine a light on the owners of off-track-Thoroughbreds (OTTB) and their horses and raise money within the StableDuel app for both organizations.

Beginning Sept. 1, owners of OTTBs are invited to share a picture or video of their Thoroughbred on social media showcasing “something cool” they do with the hashtag #PlayRaceAdopt. They will then be entered to win a prize pack from the three organizations including a saddle pad, riding clothing and more. Two winners will be selected and announced each week.

StableDuel's normal brand slogan of #PlayRaceWin is built around its players, the game and Thoroughbred racing. However, for the entirety of the industry, it's important to show that when the horses complete their careers on the racetrack, they go on to become great partners for owners all over the world, whether it be in a competitive capacity or as a hobby pet. StableDuel thought a great way to showcase that aspect of the sport is through the brand altered hashtag of #PlayRaceAdopt.

“We are so excited to partner with StableDuel this month and to introduce their innovative approach to racing/gaming to a new audience.  For so many equestrians who ride off-track Thoroughbreds, the love and admiration they have for the breed either stems from an interest in racing or is the catalyst for it. StableDuel's user-friendly approach provides a fun and affordable way for fans to learn and experience more about the sport,” said Jen Roytz, Executive Director of the Retired Racehorse Project.

In addition to the social media contest, the StableDuel app will offer a weekly contest that will raise money for both organizations. Each Sunday, players can enter the Charity Contest with a $5 entry and play the popular game to win the usual cash prizes and StableDuel will donate its proceeds to each charity. The more players, the more entries, the more money to aftercare.

“StableDuel is passionate about giving back to the industry that our business is built on and we know during tough times, organizations have had to cancel many of their normal “money raising” events. We are excited to do our part and help bring attention and money to aftercare,” said Bri Mott, Director of Marketing at StableDuel.

StableDuel sponsored the “Best Turned Out Horse Awards” at the Preakness in 2019 supporting the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance.

“We're once again happy to partner with StableDuel and we are grateful for their support of the TAA. We hope this initiative can celebrate off-track Thoroughbreds while showing how much fun it is to play the races,” said Stacie Clark, TAA.

Early Longshots Key $27,631 Payout On Stronach 5

Five winning tickets in Friday's Stronach 5 each returned $27,631.10.

The Stronach 5, featuring three races from Laurel Park and one each from Gulfstream Park and Golden Gate Fields, had a $100,000 guaranteed pool, an industry-low 12-percent takeout, and continues to provide a strong return on investment.

Friday's sequence began with Laurel's seventh race and Royal Thunder ($18.20) winning off the claim for trainer Carlos Mancilla. That was followed by Gulfstream's ninth race and first-time starter Viburnum ($23.40) winning for trainer Kelsey Danner. The Stronach 5 concluded with the second race from Golden Gate Fields and a game victory by Heatsky ($9.60).

The largest payoff in the sequence was Viburnum, while the shortest price was Cannon's Roar ($7), winning Laurel's eighth race.

Friday's races and sequence

  • Leg One – Laurel Park 7th Race: Royal Thunder $18.20
  • Leg Two –Gulfstream Park 9th Race: Viburnum $23.40
  • Leg Three –Laurel Park 8th Race: Cannon's Roar $7
  • Leg Four –Laurel Park 9th Race: R V Treasure $9.40

Fans can watch and wager on the action at 1/ST.COM/BET as well as stream all the action in English and Spanish at LaurelPark.com, SantaAnita.com, GulfstreamPark.com, and GoldenGateFields.com.

The minimum wager on the multi-race, multi-track Stronach 5 is $1. If there are no tickets with five winners, the entire pool will be carried over to the next Friday.

If a change in racing surface is made after the wagering closes, each selection on any ticket will be considered a winning selection. If a betting interest is scratched, that selection will be substituted with the favorite in the win pool when wagering closes.

The Maryland Jockey Club serves as host of the Stronach 5.

Mandatory Payout: Saturday’s Rainbow 6 At Gulfstream Features $349,328 Carryover

A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 pool is set for Saturday's FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes program at Gulfstream Park.

Four stakes for 2-year-olds, including the $200,000 FSS Affirmed and $200,000 FSS Susan's Girl, will be included in the popular multi-race wager's six-race sequence.

With a carryover of $349,328.25 heading into Saturday's program, the Rainbow 6 pool is expected to swell into the millions. Gulfstream hosts and analysts Ron Nicoletti and Jason Blewitt look at Saturday's sequence and provide handicapping tips.

The Rainbow 6 sent unsolved for the eighth consecutive program Friday, when tickets with all six winners were each worth $388.14.

The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is usually only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool usually goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. However, on mandatory-payout days, the entire pool is paid out to the bettor or bettors with the most winners in the six-race sequence.

Saturday's Rainbow 6 sequence will span Race 7-12, kicked off by a full field of $6,250 maiden claiming fillies and mares going six furlongs in Race 7, followed by the $75,000 Proud Man, the $200,000 Susan's Girl, the $75,000 Sharp Susan and the $200,000 Affirmed. The Rainbow 6 sequence will conclude with a 1 1/16-mile turf race for $12,500 claimers.

The Proud Man, a mile turf race, will be contested by nine juveniles, including Boca Boy, who finished third in the $100,000 Dr. Fager, the first leg of the Florida Sire Stakes series Aug. 1. The Sharp Susan, a mile turf race for 2-year-old fillies, attracted Spanish Loveaffair, who captured her July 23 debut by 11 lengths for trainer Mark Casse.

Breeze On By, who captured the six-furlong Dr. Fager, returns in the seven-furlong Affirmed, in which the Ralph Nicks trainee will again clash with Dr. Fager runner-up Gatsby.

Go Jo Jo Go, a late-closing winner of the $100,000 FSS Desert Vixen, will headline the seven-furlong Susan's Girl, in which Desert Vixen runner-up Princess Secret will seek revenge on the Michael Yates trainee.

Breeze On By and Go Jo Jo Go are both owned by Gilbert Campbell's Stonehedge LLC, winner of 14 Florida Sire Stakes series races.
