Preakness Stakes To Be Featured In Kentucky Lottery’s Win Place Show On Oct. 3

EquiLottery Games and The Stronach Group have agreed to offer the Preakness Stakes through Win Place Show, the first ever lottery game based on the results of live horse race. Currently being offered by the Kentucky Lottery, Win Place Show features one race per day from racetracks across the U.S. and Preakness 145 will be the first Triple Crown race to be featured through this platform. Win Place Show launched statewide in Kentucky on August 16th of this year.

Due to this partnership, lottery players will be able to purchase Win Place Show draw game tickets based on the results of the Preakness Stakes at all lottery retailers in Kentucky. One of the premiere events on the U.S. sports calendar every year, the Preakness Stakes will run on October 3rd this year at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. This is the first time the Preakness will run as the last Triple Crown event of the year.

Win Place Show gives players a unique lottery experience by purchasing a two-dollar draw game ticket whose winnings are based on the results of a live horse race later that day. A QR code on each ticket allows players to download the Win Place Show mobile app to watch the race of each day live or on replay, scan tickets to check winnings, and set up a profile to help store and track their tickets throughout the day.

Gulfstream’s Rainbow 6 Pays $218,767 On Meet’s Closing Day

A mandatory payout on closing day of the Spring/Summer Meet at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla., yielded multiple payoffs of $218,767.70 Sunday.

The popular multi-race wager had gone unsolved for 15 consecutive racing days heading into the mandatory payout. A carryover pool of $745,396.50 helped to generate a Rainbow 6 handle of $3,922,471 Sunday.

The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is usually only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool usually goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. However, on mandatory payout days, the entire pool is paid out to the bettor or bettors with the most winners in the six-race sequence.

The Late Pick-5 produced a $21,513 payoff.

Apprentice-on-the-rise Alberto Burgos finished up the Spring/Summer Meet with an impressive four-win day, winning both ends of the early double with Inedatequila ($9.80) in Race 1 and Grace's Drama ($5.80) in Race 2. He added victories aboard Vuyelwa ($13) in Race 4 and Yodel E. A. Who ($5.40) in Race 10.

Jockey Edgard Zayas successfully defended his Spring/Summer Meet title with 137 wins, 10 more than runner-up Miguel Vasquez. Zayas also was first in purses-won with more than $4.15 million.

Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr. led all trainers with 59 victories, while Ralph Nicks topped all trainers with more than $1.5 in purses-won.

Stonehedge LLC was tops among owners with 24 wins and $1,190,720 in purses.

South Florida Thoroughbred racing action will move to Gulfstream Park West Saturday, for the Fall Turf Festival Meet, which will offer 41 programs through Nov. 26. Racing will be conducted five days a week at Gulfstream Park West on a Wednesday-through-Sunday schedule with one exception. A special Columbus Day program will be conducted on Monday, Oct. 12 instead of Wednesday, Oct. 14.

Due to Covid-19 protocols, racing will be conducted without spectators. Owners will be allowed to attend the races only on the days their horses are scheduled to run. The Gulfstream Park West races will be streamed on gulfstreampark.com, 1/STbet.com and Xpressbet.com.

Live racing will return to Gulfstream Park for the 2020-2021 Championship Meet in December.

Longshots Fuel $54,460 Payoff In NYRA’s Cross Country Pick 5

Exciting racing action from Belmont Park and Churchill Downs comprised Saturday's Cross Country Pick 5, which returned $54,460 for selecting all five winners for the 50-cent wager with a total pool of $128,145.

Big Engine powered the wager's first leg, defeating Tribecca by a half-length in a six-furlong main track sprint for allowance optional claimers in Belmont's Race 7. Off at 10-1, Big Engine complete the course in 1:10.07 under jockey Jose Lezcano, returning $23.40 on a $2 win wager. Trained by Linda Rice, Big Engine bested an eight-horse field that included stakes-winners T Loves a Fight and Celtic Chaos.

Action shifted to Churchill for the second leg, with Estilo Femenino rallying from last-of-10 at the half-mile mark to post a three-quarters of a length victory in the one-mile dirt contest for allowance optional claimers in Race 8. The 25-1 longshot, piloted by Joseph Talamo and trained by Hall of Famer Steve Asmussen, paid $53.60.

Belmont's Race 8 started the first of three graded stakes to close out the sequence, with trainer Chad Brown notching the exacta in the Grade 3, $100,000 Noble Damsel for fillies and mares 3-years-old and up going one mile on the Belmont Widener turf in Race 8. Two English-breds, Viadera and the 2-1 favorite Blowout, ran 1-2 for Brown, who won his fifth consecutive Noble Damsel. Joel Rosario, aboard Viadera [$13] won his third Noble Damsel in the last four runnings as his 4-year-old Bated Breath filly surged along the rail to edge Blowout by a neck in a final time of 1:32.06.

Churchill got in on the stakes action in Race 9 when Mr. Money earned the purse with a 1 ¼-length victory in the Grade 3, $100,000 Ack Ack for 3-year-olds and up going one mile on the main track. Conditioned by Bret Calhoun, Mr. Money went off at 6-1 but used a strong move near the rail to draw away from runner-up Bourbon Calling. Ridden by Gabriel Saez, Mr. Money completed the course in 1:34.85 and returned $14.80.

The finale saw a familiar face make a return trip to the winner's circle, as Firenze Fire registered a 2 3/4-length score in the Grade 2, $150,000 Vosburgh going six furlongs on Belmont's Big Sandy. The Kelly Breen trainee punched his ticket to Keeneland, with the 81st running of the Vosburgh serving as a “Win and You're In” qualifier for the Grade 1 Breeders' Cup Sprint on November 7 in Kentucky. Off as the 2-1 second choice behind favorite and eventual runner-up Funny Guy, Firenze Fire, who hit the wire in 1:09.74, was ridden by Lezcano and paid $7.20.

The minimum bet for the multi-track, multi-race wager is 50 cents. Wagering on the Cross Country Pick 5 is also available on track, on ADW platforms, and at simulcast facilities across the country. Every week will feature a mandatory payout of the net pool.

Gulfstream Park: Mandatory Rainbow 6 Payout On Sunday’s Closing Day

A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 will be held Sunday at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla., where the pool for the popular multi-race wager may swell to $5 million or more on the last day of the Spring/Summer Meet.

Gulfstream's hosts and analysts Jason Blewitt and Ron Nicoletti handicap Sunday's Rainbow 6 and offer some interesting plays.

The Rainbow 6 carryover grew to $745,396.50 Saturday after going unsolved for the 15^th consecutive racing day. Tickets with all six winners Saturday were each worth $276.22.

Sunday's Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 7-12.

Race 7, a five-furlong turf dash for $12,500 claimers, drew a well-balanced full field of 12, plus an also-eligible. Race 8, a seven-furlong sprint for 3-year-old fillies, will be contested by eight fillies, including Panarea, the 8-5 morning-line favorite who was claimed out of a 5 ½-length victory against slightly weaker.

A trio of optional claiming allowance races will be contested in Races 9, 10 and 11. Race 9, scheduled at a mile on turf, drew 15 fillies and mares, including four main-track-only entrants. Dynatown, a Mark Casse-trained daughter of Speightstown who is rated as the 9-5 favorite, steps into open company after defeating Florida-breds by 4 ½ lengths last time out.

Royal Squeeze, a winner of more than $600,000, is slightly favored over six rivals in a well-matched Race 10, a six furlong sprint.

Bienville Street, who came within a neck of winning the Monroe Stakes last time out, tops a field of 11, including three main-track-only entrants, in Race 11, a mile turf race for fillies and mares.

The Rainbow 6 sequence will conclude in Race 12, a five-furlong turf sprint for $12,500 fillies and mares claimers that drew 16 entries, including four also-eligibles.

There will also be mandatory payouts Sunday of the Late Pick 5 and last-race Super Hi-5.

There will be a Super Hi-5 carryover of $2,712.43.
