Haskell: Kentucky Derby Winner Mage $3 Fixed-Odds Favorite With MonmouthBets

Mage, the 2023 Kentucky Derby winner, is set as the current $3 favorite with MonmouthBets in Saturday's 56th edition of the Grade 1 Haskell Stakes at Monmouth Park.

Good Magic, the sire of Mage, claimed the 2018 running of the Haskell and Mage, trained by Gustavo Delgado, will be making his first start in the Grade 1 mile and an eighth contest since running third in the Preakness Stakes in May.

Second-choice is undefeated Arabian Knight at $3.50 for trainer Bob Baffert, who has a record nine Haskell wins to his name. The Zedan Racing Stables-owned son of Uncle Mo will be making his first start since winning a Grade 3 at Oaklawn Park in January by open lengths.

Tapit Trice, from the Todd Pletcher barn and third in the Belmont Stakes last time out, is a $4.50 chance, while other interesting contenders include Extra Anejo ($7), Geaux Rocket Ride ($9) and Salute The Stars ($11).

MonmouthBets, powered by BetMakers Technology Group, is the only legal, regulated fixed odds horse racing platform in the United States. Officially launched in New Jersey with Monmouth Park, MonmouthBets commenced retail operation in 2022 and subsequently launched its digital offering.

It's awesome to have the Derby winner in Mage at the top of the market but plenty points to Arabian Knight garnering huge support and he could easily challenge for top billing. Outside of the top two, very strong cases can be made for the next wave in the betting and with all of that, we have ourselves the set-up for an ultra-competitve and fantastic betting race. Bring it on!

“The great thing for New Jersey racing fans is they can now immerse themselves in the thick of the action with the excitement fixed-odds betting brings and what better way to start than on Monmouth Park's showcase race day via MonmouthBets. We're all looking forward to what should be not just a super-exciting race but a super-exciting race day!”
