Aqueduct-Turfway Cross Country Pick 5 Pays $6,745

An all-stakes Cross Country Pick 5 on Saturday returned $6,745.25 for selecting all five winners for the 50-cent wager at races from Aqueduct in New York and Turfway Park in Kentucky. The sequence's total pool was $110,645.

Visitant rallied from seventh to post a two-length win in the first leg, capturing the Kentucky Cup Classic for 4-year-olds and up going nine furlongs in Turfway's Race 9. Under jockey Deshawn Parker, Visitant logged a final time of 1:50.12. The William Morey trainee went off at 8-1, paying $18.80 on a $2 win wager.

Aqueduct made its first foray into the wager when Air Attack outkicked Musical Heart by one length to win the $75,000 Stud Muffin for 4-year-olds and up in a marathon 1 3/8-mile contest in Race 9 as part of the card's New York Claiming Championship Day. Owned and trained by John Toscano, Jr. Air Attack won at 4-1, returning $10. Eric Cancel utilized a three-wide trip and kept his charge forwardly placed before finishing strong in a final time of 2:21.93.

The first favorite to win came with Adventuring in the Bourbonette Oaks for sophomore fillies going one mile in Race 10 at Turfway. Conditioned by Brad Cox, Adventuring [$7.20] bested Spritz by two lengths, earning 50 qualifying points to the Grade 1 Kentucky Oaks for the effort under jockey Florent Geroux. The Godolphin homebred hit the wire in 1:37.31.

Fox Red won the Big A's 10th-race finale, with Cancel recording his second straight win as the favorite won the $45,000 Dads Caps for 4-years-old and up going seven furlongs. Fox Red, trained by Linda Rice, topped Town Jak by 1 1/2 lengths, completing the course in 1:25.09. He paid $7.30.

Like the King closed the curtain on the wager by overtaking two rivals in the stretch to win the Grade 3 Jeff Ruby Steaks for sophomores going 1 1/8 miles in Race 11. The 100-40-20-10-point prep race for the Grade 1 Kentucky Derby saw the Wesley Ward-trained Like the King win at 7-1, defeating Sainthood by one length in a final time of 1:50.22. Drayden Van Dyke rode the winner, who paid $16.00.

The minimum bet for the multi-track, multi-race wager is 50 cents. Wagering on the Cross Country Pick 5 is also available on track, on ADW platforms, and at simulcast facilities across the country. Every week will feature a mandatory payout of the net pool.

Mandatory Payout On Monday At Mahoning Valley With $343,876 In Buckeye Pick 6 Jackpot

Hollywood Gaming Mahoning Valley Race Course in Youngstown, Ohio, will offer handicappers the rare opportunity of a weekday mandatory payout in its Buckeye Jackpot Pick 6 with a carryover of $343,876.73. The wager was last hit on February 13 when it paid $109,311 to a single winner.

Monday's Buckeye Jackpot Pick 6 will start in Race 3 with an estimated post time of 1:40 p.m. ET. The sequence of races for the Pick 6 will feature an average field size of over eight horses per race and the wager has a 20-cent minimum with a 20.0% takeout rate.

The Buckeye Jackpot Pick 6 will return to its normal single ticket payout rules on Tuesday, March 30.

Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course races Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday with a first race post time of 12:45 p.m. and Saturday with a first race post time of 12:15 p.m. The current race meet ends on Saturday, April 17.

$951,991 Carries Over Into Mandatory Payout Florida Derby Day For Rainbow 6 Jackpot At Gulfstream Park

A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 is scheduled at Gulfstream Park for Saturday's 14-race blockbuster program in Hallandale Beach, Fla., headlined by the $750,000 Curlin Florida Derby (G1) presented by Hill 'n' Dale Farms at Xalapa.

The Rainbow 6 went unsolved Friday for the 14th racing day in a row since a March 6 mandatory payout. Multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $246.28 Friday.

A pool of $951,991.13 will be carried over to Saturday, when the mandatory pool is likely to swell well into the multi-millions.

The Rainbow 6 carryover jackpot is usually only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool usually goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool. However, on mandatory-payout days, the entire pool is paid out to the bettor or bettors with the most winners in the six-race sequence.

The Late Pick 5 and the Late Pick 4 will have guaranteed pools of $750,000 Saturday. The Late Pick 5 (Races 10-14) and Late Pick 4 (Races 11-14) will both offer all-stakes sequences. The Curlin Florida Derby will anchor the sequences for the Late Pick 5, Late Pick 4 and the Rainbow 6 (Races 9-14).

The Rainbow 6 sequence will be kicked off by a mile optional claiming allowance on turf for older horses in Race 9. Todd Pletcher-trained duo of Summer to Remember, who finished third in the Tropical Park Derby in December, and Sayyaaf, who is coming off a front-running optional claiming allowance victory Feb. 27, are scheduled to clash with former stablemate Noble Indy, who has joined the barn of Saffie Joseph Jr. after being claimed for $35,000 out of a winning effort last time out.

Good old Sadler's Joy, a multiple Grade 1 winner with more than $2.6 million in purse earnings, is a slight morning-line favorite in the $200,000 Pan American (G2), a 1 ½-mile turf stakes for older horses carded as Race 10. The 8-year-old son of Kitten's Joy, who son the 2017 Pan American, will clash with the Michael Maker-trained duo of Cross Border, who was second in the Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (G1), and Temple, who finished ahead of Sadler's Joy while finishing second in the McKnight (G3) two starts back.

Bill Mott-trained Annex will seek to stay undefeated when he goes to post in Race 11, the $100,000 Cutler Bay, a mile turf stakes for 3-year-olds. Annex, the 5-2 morning-line favorite, broke his maiden at first asking at Gulfstream Jan. 16 and came right back to win the Palm Beach. Both victories were achieved by powerful late surges. Pletcher-trained Hyperfocus is coming off an optional claiming allowance win in his 2021 debut that was also his turf debut. Barclay Tagg-trained Step Dancer is set to make his 2021 debut Saturday after concluding his juvenile campaign with a victory in the Oct. 31 Awad Stakes at Belmont.

Trainer Kenny McPeek will saddle Crazy Beautiful for the $200,000 Gulfstream Park Oaks (G2), a 1 1/16-mile race for 3-year-old fillies carded as Race 12. McPeek saddled Swiss Skydiver for a victory in last year's Oaks on her way to a victory against the boys in the Preakness Stakes (G1). Crazy Beautiful, who finished second in the Davona Dale (G2) last time out, will clash with Pletcher-trained Con Lima, a stakes winner on turf who will return to Gulfstream's main track, over which she broke her maiden.

Always Shopping, an impressive three-length winner of the La Prevoyante Jan. 23, appears to be one of the likeliest 'singles' for budget-conscious Rainbow 6 bettors. The Pletcher trainee is the is the 8-5 morning-line favorite for the $100,000 Orchid (G3), a 1 3/8-mile turf stakes for fillies and mares carded as Race 13. Christophe Clement Sorrell is slated to make her U. S. debut Saturday after winning three straight stakes in Great Britain to finish off her 2020 campaign.

Shug McGaughey-trained Greatest Honour, the winner of the Holy Bull (G3) and Fountain of Youth (G2), should prove very popular with Rainbow 6 bettors in the Florida Derby. Greatest Honour is listed as the 6-5 morning-line favorite in a deep field of 11 3-year-olds. Bob Baffert-trained Spielberg, who finished second behind Eclipse champion Essential Quality in the Southwest (G3), is rated second at 4-1. Known Agenda, Pletcher's hope for a sixth Florida Derby success, is coming off an impressive 11-length victory in a 1 1/8-mile optional claiming allowance.

WHO'S HOT: Paco Lopez rode four winners on Friday's card, scoring back-to-back on Mamba On Three ($5.60) in Race 1 and Romario ($11.40) in Race 2 before going back-to-back again aboard Simple Story ($8.40) in Race 5 and Free to Fly ($5.40) in Race 6.

Aqueduct: Empire 6 Will Continue To Offer Daily Mandatory Payout Through April

The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) today announced the Empire 6 wager will continue to offer a daily mandatory payout in April at Aqueduct Racetrack.

Featuring a $0.20 bet minimum and 20 percent takeout, the Empire 6 wager requires bettors to select the first-place finisher of the final six races of the card. The full pool, minus takeout, will be distributed to bettors who select the first-place finisher in the greatest number of races on the card.

In January, NYRA established a daily mandatory payout of the Empire 6 at Aqueduct as part of a pilot program in response to horseplayer interest in wagers that reward the daily player with the opportunity for impressive payouts.

The Empire 6 was launched in August 2019 with a jackpot provision in which the full pool would be paid out only to a single ticket selecting the first-place finisher in all six races, otherwise 75 percent of the day's net pool would be distributed to those who selected the first-place finisher in the greatest number of races with the remainder added into a jackpot and carried to the next day's Empire 6.

The Big A winter meet concludes on Sunday, March 28. The 11-day Aqueduct spring meet will run Thursday, April 1 through Sunday, April 18 with live racing offered on a Thursday to Sunday schedule. The spring meet will include 13 stakes worth $2.7 million in purses highlighted by the 96th running of the Grade 2, $750,000 Wood Memorial presented by Resorts World Casino on Saturday, April 3.
