Aqueduct: Withers Card Features Double Pick 6 Carryover Of $98,633

Saturday's nine-race card at Aqueduct Racetrack will be bolstered by a double Pick 6 carryover of $98,633 after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Friday.

The $1 Pick 6 returned $22,500.50 to those who selected 5-of-6 horses correctly.

Friday's sequence began in Race 4 with Pendolino [No. 8, $81.50] upsetting a one-turn mile claiming event for older fillies and mares as the longest shot on the board. Oscar Gomez engineered the upset for owner-trainer Eduardo Jones.

Write the Check [No. 1A, $22.80] surged to victory under Luis Rodriguez Castro for trainer Bruce Brown in Race 5, a one-turn mile maiden claiming event for state-bred sophomore fillies.

The parade of longshots continued in Race 6 with Forty Two Ace [No. 6, $30.20] splashing to victory in a one-mile starter allowance for older horses under Mike Luzzi for owner-trainer Charlton Baker and was followed by Gallina [No. 7, $12] rallying to win a starter allowance for older fillies and mares in Race 7 for Trevor McCarthy and owner-trainer Jimmy Bond.

Mystic Night [No. 6, $5] won as the 3-2 mutuel favorite in Race 8, a nine-furlong allowance optional claimer for older horses with Manny Franco in the irons for four-time Eclipse Award-winning trainer Chad Brown.

With the double Pick 6 carryover already confirmed, Incontrovertible [No. 10, $12.20] closed out the sequence in Race 9 for jockey Carol Cedeno and trainer Edward Allard in the one-turn mile maiden claiming event for older state-bred fillies and mares.

Saturday's Pick 6 will kick off in Race 4 at 2:18 p.m. Eastern and includes the Grade 3, $250,000 Withers in Race 8. First post on the nine-race card is 12:50 p.m.

Mahoning Valley Shifts Saturday’s Card To Friday, Feb. 11

Due to the impact of winter storm Landon, Hollywood Gaming Mahoning Valley Race Course in Youngstown, Ohio will be moving the live racing card scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 5 to Friday, Feb. 11 and will race with a first race post time of 12:45pm.

In the interim, live racing is scheduled to resume Monday, Feb. 7 with a first race post time of 12:45pm.

The simulcast theater will remain open for wagering.

Hollywood Gaming Mahoning Valley Race Course races Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday with a first race post time of 12:45 p.m. and Saturday with a first race post time of 12:15 p.m.

A unique Thursday live card will be held on March 24, 2022 with a first race post time of 12:45pm.

The 2022 Winter/Spring race meet dates run Jan. 1, 2022 – April 16, 2022.

Laurel Cancels Friday Card After Third Race; Stronach 5 Also Cancelled

Due to deteriorating weather conditions, Laurel Park was forced to cancel the remainder of its live program Friday following the third race.

Winter storm Landon brought steady rain through the Mid-Atlantic region overnight and throughout the day Friday.

Laurel's first three races were contested over a sloppy and sealed main track.

Friday's national weekly Stronach 5 wager, which was to kick off with Laurel's eighth-race finale followed by races from Gulfstream Park, Santa Anita and Golden Gate, was also canceled. It will return next Friday, Feb. 11.

Laurel is set to host a nine-race live program Saturday. Post time is 12:25 p.m.

TVG Plans Expanded Coverage Of Coast-To-Coast Sophomore Prep Races

TVG's Road to the Triple Crown and Kentucky Oaks presented by Spendthrift Farm will feature prep races from across the country this weekend with full coverage from Gulfstream Park and Santa Anita highlighted by the $250,000 Holy Bull Stakes (G3) and the $200,000 Robert B. Lewis (G3) along with the $250,000 Withers Stakes (G3) from Aqueduct.

There will be expanded coverage at Gulfstream Park presented by Runhappy with expert analysis and interviews from Todd Schrupp, Larry Collmus, Britney Eurton, Joaquin Jaime and Andi Biancone. The twelve-race card includes five stakes races with the $250,000 Holy Bull Stakes (G3) the main event with 10-4-3-1 Kentucky Derby points on the line. The race has drawn a field of nine with Mo Donegal tabbed as the morning line favorite at odds of 3-1 for trainer Todd Pletcher. Purchased for $250,000 by Donegal Racing, the bay son of Uncle Mo ended his juvenile campaign with a win in the Remsen Stakes (G2) and will have Irad Ortiz, Jr. in the irons.

Santa Anita has a stakes-laden weekend of action on tap and Christina Blacker, Mike Joyce, Simon Bray, Scott Hazelton and Kurt Hoover will be trackside with exclusive interviews and insights. On Saturday, the $200,000 San Pasqual Stakes (G2) highlights a nine-race card that includes two additional graded stakes – the $100,000 Thunder Road Stakes (G3) and the $200,000 Santa Monica Stakes (G3). In the San Pasqual Stakes (G2), the 2021 winner Express Train will take on five rivals as he tries for a repeat for trainer John Shirreffs.

On Sunday, the road to the Kentucky Derby runs through California with the $200,000 Robert B. Lewis (G3) featuring a field of five contenders. Happy Jack will step up to stakes company for trainer Doug O'Neill after breaking his maiden in January at Santa Anita. The Calumet Farm homebred will have Abel Cedillo aboard.

TVG will also be broadcasting the $250,000 Withers Stakes (G3) from Aqueduct which offers up 10-4-3-1 Kentucky Derby qualifying points to the top four finishers.
