Gulfstream Park: $800,000 Gross Jackpot Guaranteed In Wednesday’s Rainbow 6

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 gross jackpot pool will be guaranteed for $800,000 Wednesday at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla., where the popular multi-race wager has gone unsolved for 10 racing days in a row following a mandatory payout on Jan. 29 Pegasus World Cup Day.

The Rainbow 6 jackpot is paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

The Rainbow 6 sequence spanning Races 3-8 will be anchored by a mile-and-70-yard claiming race on Tapeta featuring the U.S. riding debut of Megane Peslier, daughter of international riding star Olivier Peslier.

Peslier, who has been exercising horses for Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher at Palm Beach Downs this winter, is scheduled to ride Saffie Joseph Jr.-trained Eagle Eye in Wednesday's Race 8 on the Gulfstream Park card.

The Rainbow 6 Jackpot was nearly hit on Sunday when three of the seven runners in the final race – including the favorite – could have triggered a single-ticket payout. On a day when the sequence began with a $95.20 winner, those picking five winners each received $1,398.58

$750,000 Gross Jackpot Guaranteed In Saturday’s Rainbow 6 At Gulfstream Park

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 Gross Jackpot Pool will be guaranteed for $750,000 Saturday at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla., where the popular multi-race wager has gone unsolved for nine racing days in a row following a mandatory payout on Pegasus World Cup Day.

The Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 7-12, featuring the $100,000 Ladies Turf Sprint in Race 8.

Christophe Clement-trained Miss J McKay will seek a second-straight stakes score at Gulfstream in the five-furlong turf sprint for fillies and mares.  Miss J McKay is coming off an impressive score in the Dec. 31 Abundantia, in which the daughter of Hangover Kid surged from seventh at the top of the stretch to win going away by 1 ½ lengths. Miss J McKay is rated as the 8-5 favorite ahead of Miss Auramet, the Eddie Plesa Jr.-trained multiple-stakes winner who is rated second at 2-1. Jorge Abreu-trained Guardian Moon, who is 2-for-2 lifetime, is set to make her stakes debut while coming off a 10-month layoff.

The Ladies Turf Sprint will be followed by a well-stocked maiden special weight event for 3-year-olds in Race 9. Todd Pletcher-trained Charge It, who came up just short to finish second in his Jan. 8 debut following a protracted speed duel, is rated as the 6-5 morning-line favorite in the mile race that includes Chad Brown-trained Granlusso, a debuting son of Street Sense.

A pair of well-balanced optional claiming allowances follow in Races 10 and 11 before a 1 1/8-mile maiden special weight race for 3-year-olds on turf closes out the Rainbow 6 sequence. Foxtrot Whiskey and Leopardi, a pair of Todd Pletcher-trained sons of Curlin; Flatford Mill, a Clement-trained son of Union Rags; and Barrzley, a Graham Motion-trained son of Arrogate are scheduled to make their respective debuts.

The Rainbow 6 sequence will be kicked off by a 1 1/16-mile race on Tapeta that attracted a full field of $12,500 claimers.

The Rainbow 6 jackpot is paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

The $100,000 Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint (G3), a five-furlong dash for older horses, has been carded as Race 5. Rusty Arnold-trained Gear Jockey, a multiple graded-stakes winner, is scheduled to make his first start since finishing sixth in the Nov. 6 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (G1) at Del Mar.

14-1 Golden Gate Fields Longshot Triggers $11,033 Stronach 5 Payout

There were 12 winning tickets in Friday's Stronach 5, each worth $11,033.90.

The Stronach 5 featured a low 12-percent takeout and races from Gulfstream Park, Laurel Park, Santa Anita Park and Golden Gate Fields.

The popular wager started with an even-money shot in Alecka Star returning from a 4 ½-month layoff to win Gulfstream's eighth race. That performance was followed by Mocephus and jockey Victor Carrasco winning Laurel's ninth race at 3-1.

The Stronach 5 headed west for the third and fourth legs. Smuggler's Run, 8-5 with Flavien Prat, won Santa Anita's third race. The short prices ended with Golden Gate's third race and the 14-1 shot Ball Lass winning for trainer Matthew Troy.

The Stronach 5 concluded back at Laurel with Race 10 and the 6-1 shot Pay the Kid driving past eight others down the stretch.

Leg A: Gulfstream Race 8: Alecka Star $4.20

Leg B: Laurel Race 9: Mocephus $8.20

Leg C: Santa Anita Race 3: Smuggler's Run $5.20

Leg D: Golden Gate Race 3: Ball Lass $31.80

Leg E: Laurel Race 10: Pay the Kid $15.80

Fans can watch and wager on the action at 1ST.COM/BET as well as stream all the action in English and Spanish at LaurelPark.com, SantaAnita.com, GulfstreamPark.com, and GoldenGateFields.com.

The minimum wager on the multi-race, multi-track Stronach 5 is $1. If there are no tickets with five winners, the entire pool will be carried over to the next Friday.

If a change in racing surface is made after the wagering closes, each selection on any ticket will be considered a winning selection. If a betting interest is scratched, that selection will be substituted with the favorite in the win pool when wagering closes.

The Maryland Jockey Club serves as host of the Stronach 5.
