Gulfstream Park: $150,000 Guaranteed Jackpot In Sunday’s Rainbow 6

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 gross jackpot pool will be guaranteed at $150,000 Sunday at Gulfstream Park, where the popular multi-race wager went unsolved Saturday for the third day of the Spring/Summer Meet at Gulfstream Park.

The Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 5-10, kicked off by an intriguing optional claiming starter allowance for 3-year-old fillies at a mile on turf. Ron Spatz-trained Love Her Lots, a close runner-up in each of her last two starts, will try to break through on turf as the 2-1 morning-line favorite. Mark Casse-trained Thataint Tooshabby, a winner of two straight races before encountering a very troubled trip, will seek to rebound. Jose D'Angelo-trained Built Different, who graduated in her debut in an off-the-turf maiden race, will try turf Sunday, while Brendan Walsh-trained Demogorgon will be equipped with blinkers for the first time following a disappointing run.

Christophe Clement-trained Silvery Rill, an even third in her 2022 debut, and Todd Pletcher-trained Birthday Time, who has trained sharply since finishing a wide sixth in her debut March 12 at Tampa Bay Downs, are likely to vie for favoritism in Race 7, a 7 ½-furlong maiden special weight race for 3-year-old fillies on turf.

Rhymes Like Dimes is scheduled to make his first start off the claim by Joseph in Race 8, a mile starter allowance for 3-year-olds, and Antonio Sano-trained Mitico, a convincing maiden winner last time out, are prominent among the seven entrants.

A Thread of Blue, a winner of $1.5 million in career earnings, is scheduled to make his second start since being claimed for $35,000 by Casse in Race 9, a $35,000 claiming race at a mile on turf.

The Rainbow 6 jackpot is paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

Trio Of Longshots Sees One Winning Stronach 5 Ticket Pay $89,498

There were three longshots in Friday's Stronach 5 each returning more than $24, but one ticket holder solved the puzzle and was rewarded with $89,498.40.

The Stronach 5 featured a low 12 percent takeout and races from Gulfstream Park, Santa Anita Park, Laurel Park and Golden Gate Fields.

Gulfstream's Race 8 served as the opening leg of the Stronach 5 and Frankly My Dear battled back under jockey Ailsa Morrison to win over favored American of Course and return $24.60. In the second leg, Swiss Swoo (5-2) just got up in the final stride under jockey Juan Hernandez to win Santa Anita's third race. The third leg, Laurel's Race 9, produced a 23-1 winner in Bedtimebourbon under jockey Forest Boyce, and was followed with a 12-1 winner in Golden Gate's third race in Senor Del Campo.

The Stronach 5 concluded with Santa Anita's fourth race and Queen Ofthe Temple winning at odds of 2-1.

Leg A: Gulfstream Race 8: Frankly My Dear $24.60

Leg B: Santa Anita Race 3: Swiss Swoo $7.80

Leg C: Laurel Race 9: Bedtimebourbon $48.20

Leg D: Golden Gate Race 3: Senor Del Campo $27.80

Leg E: Santa Anita Race 4: Queen Ofthe Temple $6

Fans can watch and wager on the action at 1/ST.COM/BET as well as stream all the action in English and Spanish at LaurelPark.com, SantaAnita.com, GulfstreamPark.com, and GoldenGateFields.com.

The minimum wager on the multi-race, multi-track Stronach 5 is $1. If there are no tickets with five winners, the entire pool will be carried over to the next Friday.

If a change in racing surface is made after the wagering closes, each selection on any ticket will be considered a winning selection. If a betting interest is scratched, that selection will be substituted with the favorite in the win pool when wagering closes.

The Stronach 5 will return April 15.

The Maryland Jockey Club serves as host of the Stronach 5.

Keeneland: ‘Operator Error’ Led To Wrong Order Of Finish, Payoffs On Opening Day Race

A nearly 20-minute delay ahead of Friday's sixth race at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Ky., was caused by an incorrectly-posted order of finish in the fifth race of the opening day card. Keeneland would admit that it was a United Tote “operator error.”

The winner of the turf allowance race was Healing (3), and was correctly posted on the tote board and television monitors. However, the second and third-place finishers were switched on the board and in the original pari-mutuel payoffs: Red Hornet (9) was posted as the third-place finisher, when he actually finished three-quarters of a length ahead of Rochambeau (8).

The race was declared official prior to the mistake being uncovered.

Keeneland officials released the following statement after the incident:

“In today's fifth race at Keeneland, the order of finish was inadvertently posted as 3-8-9-10. The correct order of finish for the race is 3-9-8-10. Any tickets that were cashed on track before the corrected order of finish have been honored. The race was repriced and the correct running order prices are official. Officials are continuing to look into the cause of the error.”

A subsequent statement from track officials said:

“Officials have determined the error in today's fifth race was due to United Tote operator error. While safeguards to prevent this from happening are in place, additional measures are being taken to create further checks and balances.

“As previously announced, any tickets that were cashed on track before the corrected order of finish have been honored.

“Advance Deposit Wagering (ADW) accounts, including NYRA Bets, TVG, TwinSpires and Xpressbet, will be adjusted to reflect the correct pricing.”

The statement did not outline the “safeguards” that failed to work, what additional measures would be taken or whether the United Tote operator was sanctioned for his costly mistake.
