Gulfstream Rainbow 6 Jackpot Hit For $220,289 Saturday

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool was hit for a $220,289 payoff Saturday at Gulfstream Park. The popular multi-race wager had gone unsolved for six racing days in a row.

A single ticket with the winning combination of 2-2-9-2-11-5 was sold.

The Rainbow 6 jackpot is paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70% of that day's pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30% is carried over to the jackpot pool.

The Rainbow 6 will start anew on Sunday, when the six-racing sequence will span Races 5-10, featuring a mile optional claiming allowance on turf in Race 6 and a 5 ½-furlong allowance for Florida-breds on Tapeta in Race 9.

Danny Gargan-trained Riot House, who came off a nine-month layoff to break his maiden March 12, is rated as the 2-1 morning-line favorite in Race 6, in which Todd Pletcher-trainee In the Union is scheduled to slated to make his turf debut.

Owner/trainer Louis Roussel III sends out Heals the Soul, his first starter of the Spring/Summer Meet, in Race 9.

The 4-year-old son of Maclean's Music recently came off a five-month layoff to win a five-furlong turf sprint at Fair Grounds last time out.

Eddie Plesa Jr.-trained Nerve is set to make his first start since finishing second in the Hollywood Beach at five furlongs on turf last September.

Batch Bettor Takes Down Santa Anita Pick 6 Jackpot For $436,787

With longshot Slam Dunk Sermon rolling home under Kyle Frey to win by one length in Friday's eighth and final race at Santa Anita, one lucky ticket in the Arcadia, Calif., track's popular 20 cent Single Ticket Rainbow Pick 6 Jackpot rewarded its owner with a $436,787.25 payoff.

Off at 8-1 in a field of nine older horses going 6 ½ furlongs for a $20,000 claiming tag, Slam Dunk Sermon, in his second start for trainer Alfredo Marquez off a $16,000 claim at Golden Gate Fields on Feb. 27, rallied three-deep turning for home and was never challenged thereafter in what amounted to an easy win.

Purchased for 20 cents as part of an overall batch betting investment of $1,972.60, Friday's winning ticket was generated through the Maryland-based Hunt Valley wagering hub.

Friday's winning Rainbow Six numbers and win mutuels are as follows:  R3, #1 ($16.40); R4, #1 ($11.40); R5, #2 ($11.60); R6, #2 ($8.60); R7, #3 ($6.20) and R8, #10 ($19.00).

There was a Single Ticket Rainbow 6 carryover coming into Friday of $365,340.  With $93,629 in new money wagered, Friday's total Rainbow 6 pool was $458,969.

First post time for a 10-race card on Saturday is at 1 p.m. with admission gates opening at 11 a.m.

$3,452 Payout In Final Stronach 5 Wager Of Spring

There were 31 winning tickets on Friday's final Stronach 5 with each ticket worth $3,452.30.

The Stronach 5 featured races from Laurel Park, Gulfstream Park, Santa Anita Park and Golden Gate Fields along with a low 12 percent takeout.

The Stronach started with $4 winners in Laurel's eighth race (Fly Me Home) and Gulfstream's eighth's race (Unsociable). Santa Anita's third leg, the third leg of the sequence, produced a $16.40 winner in Norah's Princess and Golden Gate's third race, the fourth leg of the sequence, produced a $14.60 winner in Looking for Revenge.

The Stronach 5 concluded with Texas Tower ($6.60) winning Laurel's 10th race.

The Stronach 5 is taking a pause as the Maryland Jockey Club and 1/ST retool and refresh Coast to Coast Pick 5 offerings. Stay tuned for more innovative wagering opportunities involving 1/ST racetracks this summer and fall.

Leg A: Laurel Race 8: Fly Me Home $4

Leg B: Gulfstream Race 8: Unsociable $4

Leg C: Santa Anita Race 3: Norah's Princess $16.40

Leg D: Golden Gate Race 3: Looking for Revenge $14.60
