‘Race That Stops A Nation’: Melbourne Cup Coverage Added To America’s Day At The Races Schedule

America's Day at the Races, the acclaimed national television show produced by the New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) in conjunction with FOX Sports, will present live coverage of the Group 1, $8 million Lexus Melbourne Cup on Monday, October 31.

Monday's America's Day at the Races broadcast will begin at 10:30 p.m. Eastern and will provide viewers with handicapping insights and analysis leading up to the 162nd edition of the “race that stops a nation”, as the Melbourne Cup is known. Featuring 24 horses racing over 3,200 meters (1.98 miles) at Flemington Racecourse, in Melbourne, Australia, the Melbourne Cup is an annual highlight of the international racing calendar.

This year's Melbourne Cup features a wide-open field that includes a sentimental favorite, the Irish-bred Camorra running in memory of James Casey, the 26-year son of part owner, Mark Casey. The younger Casey died last month after an illness.

Mark Casey has a significant ownership share in Camorra, trained by the brothers Ben and JD Hayes. Camorra enters the race with impressive credentials, having won the Group 2 Curragh Cup (2816 meters or 1.75 miles) in June – the same race won by Rekindling and Twilight Payment before their respective Melbourne Cup wins in 2017 and 2020.

Pick 6 Carryover Of $50,012 Into Saturday Program At Belmont At The Big A

Saturday's loaded 10-race program will be bolstered by a Pick 6 carryover of $50,012 after the multi-race wager went unsolved on Friday's nine-race card.

The $1 Pick 6 returned $2,778 to bettors who selected 5-of-6 winners correctly.

The sequence began in Race 4 with the Mike Maker-trained Lashara [No. 4, $14] scoring a second-level optional claimer traveling one-mile on the inner turf under Trevor McCarthy. The prices continued in Race 5 when Eric Cancel guided Three Unions [No. 7, $24] to a maiden-breaking score sprinting six furlongs over the outer turf for trainer Rick Schosberg.

Jockey Dylan Davis scored his second win on the program when engineering a winning ride aboard Gagliano [No. 4, $9.40] for trainer Oscar Barrera, III in Race 6, a one-mile $25,000 claimer. Trainer Fernando Abreu enjoyed his first of two wins on the day when Jose Ortiz piloted Royal Megan [No. 5, $6.40] to a $32,000 claiming score in Race 7.

Implicated [No. 2, $9.10] led a Chad Brown-trained exacta in Race 8, the featured $120,000 Chelsey Flower, under a well-timed ride from Flavien Prat to score her first stakes victory.

With only three horses covered in the final leg, Three Zero [No. 12, $37] triggered the carryover in Race 9 with a strong maiden score to give both apprentice rider Jose Gomez and trainer Fernando Abreu their second wins of the day.

Saturday's Pick 6 sequence will begin in Race 5 [2:44 p.m. Eastern], the Grade 2 Kelso Handicap at one-mile over the main track. The sequence will include two other stakes races with the Pumpkin Pie in Race 8 and Grade 3 Bold Ruler in Race 9. First post is 12:35 p.m.

America's Day at the Races will present live coverage and analysis of every day of Belmont at the Big A on the networks of FOX Sports. For the broadcast schedule and channel finder, visit https://www.nyra.com/aqueduct/racing/tv-schedule.
