America’s Day At The Races To Broadcast Every Day Of Belmont Spring/Summer Meet

America's Day at the Races, the acclaimed national telecast produced by the New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) in partnership with FOX Sports, will present live racing throughout the 48-day Belmont Park spring/summer meet that will run from Thursday, April 22 through Sunday, July 11.

America's Day at the Races will also feature live racing from the 38-day Churchill Downs spring meet that runs Saturday, April 24 to Saturday, June 26, as well as continued coverage of the 57-day Oaklawn Park which runs through May 1.

Opening Night of the Churchill Downs meet on Saturday, April 24 will offer a first post of 6:00 p.m. to kick off Derby Week leading into the Grade 1, $1.25 million Longines Kentucky Oaks on Friday, April 30 and the 147th running of the Grade 1, $3 million Kentucky Derby presented by Woodford Reserve on Saturday, May 1 as part of a card that includes seven graded stakes.

Each live racing day at Belmont Park will feature coverage on FS2, which will also offer special preview shows for both the Kentucky Derby on Friday, April 30, and the Belmont Stakes on Friday, June 4.

Presented by America's Best Racing and Claiborne Farm, America's Day at the Races will air on FS2 from 1-5 p.m. Eastern this Thursday, Opening Day at Belmont Park, and from 1-5:30 p.m. on FS2 on Friday that will also show the $100,000 Affirmed Success for 4-year-olds and up going six furlongs in the first stakes of the meet.

Among the notable broadcasts will be live racing coverage on Friday, April 30 from 12-5:30 p.m. followed by a special Kentucky Derby Preview show from 8:30-9 p.m. Both shows will be on FS2. The Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby will both air on NBC.

Saturday, May 8 will see Belmont host five graded stakes, including the meet's first Grade 1 event with the $700,000 Man o' War for 4-year-olds and up going 1 3/8 miles on the turf. The day, which will see FS2 air from 2-6:30 p.m., will also include four Grade 3 contests: the $150,000 Beaugay for older fillies and mares on the turf; the $150,000 Runhappy for 4-year-olds and up sprinting on the main track; the $150,000 Vagrancy Handicap for older fillies and mares sprinting on the dirt; and the $150,000 Peter Pan, a traditional Belmont Stakes prep, for sophomores going 1 1/8 miles.

The spring/summer meet's most heralded day is Saturday, June 5, when Belmont Stakes Day will see nine total graded stakes, including eight Grade 1s, with FS2 showing most of the stacked undercard with coverage from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and wrap-around coverage from 7:15-8:15 p.m. The 153rd running of the Grade 1, $1.5 million Belmont Stakes, the 1 1/2-mile final leg of the Triple Crown, will be aired on NBC.

FS2 will air a special half-hour Belmont Stakes preview show the day prior, June 4, from 6:30-7 p.m.

The Belmont spring/summer meet boasts 59 total stakes races worth $16.95 million in total purse money. In April, first post time at Belmont will be 1 p.m. Eastern, with the exception of Kentucky Oaks Day on Friday, April 30, which will offer a 12:20 p.m. first post.

In May, Belmont will offer a 1 p.m. post time with some exceptions. Thursday cards in May will begin at 3:05 p.m. America's Day at the Races will feature those cards as well as the Twilight Thursday program at Churchill Downs.

America's Day at the Races is also broadcast on NYRA's YouTube channel which boasts more than 65,000 subscribers. Street Boss, Frosted Shuttling To Darley Australia For 2021 Southern Hemisphere Season

Fees have been announced for the 20 Grade/Group 1-winning Darley stallions who will stand in New South Wales and Victoria for the 2021 breeding season.

Heading this year's roster is the champion sire-son duo of Exceed And Excel and his world champion sprinter son Bivouac.

Following a stellar 24 months both on the racetrack and in the sales ring, where Exceed And Excel was responsible for a career-best $2.1 million colt earning him the title of leading sire by average at this month's Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, Exceed And Excel headlines the roster at a fee of AUS$132,000 inc GST. His electrifying triple Group 1-winning son Bivouac will stand his first season at Kelvinside at a fee of AUS$66,000 inc GST.

Relocating to Kelvinside this season is Street Boss (AUS$55,000 inc GST), on the back of his ever-increasing demand as an elite sire of 2-year-olds. As the sire of G1 ATC Sires' Produce Stakes winner Anamoe, as well as G1 Winterbottom Stakes winner Elite Street, Street Boss is one of only four Australian stallions to sire multiple G1 winners this season.

The roster includes a new trio of shuttle stallions made up of the best European juvenile in 25 years, Pinatubo (AUS$44,000 inc GST), who joins the Kelvinside roster in New South Wales, with Northwood Park's Victorian roster receiving a major boost with the additions of the world's highest-ranked racehorse of 2020, Ghaiyyath (AUS$27,500 inc GST), and the undefeated champion 2-year-old Earthlight (AUS$22,000 inc GST).

Standing their second seasons after support from some of the smartest minds in the breeding business are three other champions: Microphone (AUS$38,500 inc GST), crowned Australia's champion 2-year-old of 2019, Too Darn Hot (AUS$44,000 inc GST), the champion 2-year-old and 3-year-old of his year, and Blue Point (AUS$44,000 inc GST), Britain's champion sprinter and the only horse ever to win three Group 1 sprints at Royal Ascot.

“It's hard to think of a farm that's retired seven champions to stud in a two-year period,” said Darley Australia's Head of Sales, Andy Makiv.

“To have these horses standing in Australia gives us the potential to embark on a golden era.”

And it isn't only the stellar additions over the past two years who provide strength and depth to the roster.

“Lonhro (AUS$66,000 inc GST) still commands enormous respect among breeders, there is also Brazen Beau (AUS$49,500 inc GST), who has just had a breakthrough with his first G1 winner, Frosted (AUS$44,000 inc GST), who has had two stakes winners and another two stakes performers from his first nine runners in Australia, and Street Boss, whose G1-winning son Anamoe might just be the best 2-year-old in the country,” Makiv said.

Complementing the roster are sons of breed-shaping sires Medaglia d'Oro, whose highest-rated son Astern (AUS$16,500 inc GST) is already the sire of a first-crop five-length stakes winner, plus Kermadec (AUS$11,000 inc GST) who, at the same point in his career as his own sire Teofilo, is profiling well ahead having already produced the dual G1-winning filly Montefilia. Kermadec moves to Northwood Park giving Victorian breeders access to a G1 sire in a jurisdiction where his progeny has sold particularly well and where he has highly promising horses in the leading stables.

First-crop weanlings by world champion sprinter Harry Angel are regularly being described by stud masters as 'the best from their mare'. The son of one of Europe's leading sires, Dark Angel, returns to New South Wales at a fee of AUS$16,500 inc GST.

“We're constantly saying that the Darley stallions win, they sell and they get you to the big days, because ultimately that's what we're seeing, that's what our clients strive to achieve, and we believe our roster will provide every breeder, at all levels, those opportunities,” said Makiv.

Amateur Jockey Lorna Brooke Dies After Fall; First British Rider Killed In Racing Accident Since 2005

Amateur jockey Lorna Brooke died in the hospital on Sunday, reports The Guardian, succumbing to injuries she sustained in a fall at Taunton Racecourse on April 8. The 37-year-old is the first jockey killed in a racing incident in Britain since 2005, when Tom Halliday fell at Market Rasen.

Racecourses around Britain observed a moment of silence on Monday, and jockeys wore black armbands.

Brooke was aboard Orchestrated, a horse trained and owned by her mother, Lady Susan Brooke, when she was unseated at the third fence on the course. She was treated on track before being airlifted to Southmead Hospital, where she was treated for suspected spinal injuries. Following complications, Brooke was placed into an induced coma, from which she never emerged.

The amateur jockey had ridden in over 400 races, mostly for her mother, piloting 17 winners in Britain and Ireland since 2001.

Janae Delivers Malibu Moon Colt At Safari North Farm As Part Of National Museum of Racing’s Foal Patrol Season 4

Janae, a 6-year-old mare owned by Susan Moulton, delivered a colt by Malibu Moon on April 17 at Moulton's Safari North Farm as part of the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame's Foal Patrol Season 4.

This is the fourth and final foal of the season delivered on Foal Patrol. Both the mare and foal are healthy and doing well.

A bay daughter of Closing Argument out of the Petionville mare Debs Pet, Janae was bred in Louisiana by Jim and Sue Harris. Janae, who won twice in seven starts in her racing career, previously produced a filly by Mizzen Mast in 2019 and a filly by Daredevil in 2020.

Along with Janae, Foal Patron Season 4 features the mares Miss Always Ready (Three Chimneys Farm), Miss Chapin (Mill Ridge Farm), and To the Moon Alice (Old Tavern Farm), all of whom previously foaled this season.

Foal Patrol is a one-of-a-kind interactive web project that features a collection of live cameras where people can view real-time streams of mares and their foals. The live camera feeds will be available according to each horse's daily schedule, set by the farm. The cameras will be active for Season 4 through June.
