Foal Patrol Presented By National Museum Of Racing And Hall Of Fame: Elate’s Mothering Style Runs In The Family

Since its first season in 2018, millions have tuned in to Foal Patrol around the world for a behind-the-scenes look at what daily life is like for in-foal mares and foals. Learn more about Season 5 featured mares at www.foalpatrol.com.

Foal Patrol has partnered with the Paulick Report this season to bring you closer to featured mares and foals and to ask farm staff questions about their care and health before and after foaling.

In this episode spotlighting Elate at Claiborne Farm in Paris, Ky., Paulick Report staff ask Claiborne's Mary Ormsby, “How does Elate's mothering style compare to her own mother's?”

Elate, her mother Cheery, and her grandmother Yell were all born at Claiborne Farm, and they were foaled out by the same member of the farm's staff. This means the team had plenty of past performance to project how Elate would handle herself as a mother when she had her first foal last year.

Grade 1-Placed Brilliant Cut Headlines First Group Of Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Winter Mixed Supplemental Entries

Fasig-Tipton has cataloged an additional 49 supplemental entries to its 2022 Kentucky Winter Mixed Sale, to be held on Feb. 7-8 in Lexington, Ky.

These latest entries, which are cataloged as hips 500-548, include:

VACAY (Hip 501): Four-year-old daughter of Not This Time was a stakes winner at two and multiple stakes placed at three. Consigned as a broodmare prospect by Highgate Sales, agent.
WINK TEXAS (Hip 520): Stakes placed 4-year-old filly from the family of grade 1 winners Seventh Street, American Gal, and Authentic. Consigned as a broodmare prospect by James B. Keogh, agent.
ELOQUENT SPEAKER (Hip 536): New York-bred daughter of Flatter finished second, beaten a neck, in the La Verdad Stakes at Aqueduct in her most recent start on Jan. 2. From the immediate family of multiple grade 1 winner Behrens, she is consigned as a racing/broodmare prospect by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.
JUST READ IT (Hip 537): Four-year-old stakes winning daughter of Constitution from the family of champion Safely Kept and multiple graded stakes winner Venetian Harbor. She captured the Cicada Stakes at Aqueduct last year and won an allowance/optional claimer at Aqueduct in her most recent start on Jan. 6. Consigned as a racing/broodmare prospect by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.
BRILLIANT CUT (Hip 541): Four-year-old daughter of Speightstown finished second in the Grade 1 La Brea Stakes at Santa Anita in her most recent start on Dec. 26. Earlier in her 3-year-old campaign, she finished third in the G2 Santa Ynez Stakes. A half-sister to recent stakes-winning 2-year-old filly Lemieux, her immediate family includes Grade 1 winners Diamondrella and Life Is Good, dominant winner of last year's Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile to push his career earnings over $1 million. Consigned as a racing/broodmare prospect by Highgate Sales, agent.

These entries may now be viewed online and will also be available in the equineline sales catalog app. Print versions of the supplemental catalog will be available on the sales grounds.

Fasig-Tipton will continue to accept approved supplemental entries through the end of the month.

Foal Patrol has partnered with the Paulick Report in Season 5 to bring you closer to featured mares and foals and to ask farm staff questions about their care and health.

Foal Patrol, an initiative of the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame, is a one-of-a-kind collection of live web cameras that gives viewers rare insight into the life of mares during their pregnancies, including the actual birth and the first few weeks of their foal's life.

Updated Pegasus Invitations Released

A half-dozen horses have been added to the second list of invitees for the GI Pegasus World Cup Invitational S. to be held Jan. 29 at Gulfstream Park.

Those joining the original list, headed by likely Horse of the Year Knicks Go (Paynter) and GI Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile hero and 'TDN Rising Star' Life Is Good (Into Mischief) are recent Tenacious S. winner Chess Chief (Into Mischief); Fearless (Ghostzapper), last-out winner of the GIII Harlan's Holiday S.; Law Professor (Constitution), who took the off-turf GII Santa Anita Mathis Mile S. Dec. 26; Olympiad (Speightstown), an impressive Gulfstream allowance scorer Jan. 15; SW & MGISP Stilleto Boy (Shackleford); and GSW Title Ready (More Than Ready).

Reserves on the second list include American Theorem (American Pharoah), Commandeer (Street Boss), Endorsed (Medaglia d'Oro), Forewarned (Flat Out) and Happy American (Runhappy).

Flavius (War Front) has been added to the field for the GI Pegasus World Cup Turf, headed by its defending champion Colonel Liam (Liam's Map). Formerly trained for Juddmonte Farms by Chad Brown, the 7-year-old, acquired for $230,000 at last year's Keeneland November Sale, is a three-time stakes winner, including last year's Fasig-Tipton Lure S. at Saratoga. Flavius takes the place of GI Arlington Million winner Two Emmys (English Channel) on the original list.

Reserves on the second list are Atone (Into Mischief), Bob and Jackie (Twirling Candy), English Bee (English Channel) and Law Professor (Constitution).
