Enable Leads 22 in Latest Arc Forfeit Stage

Dual G1 Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe heroine Enable (GB) (Nathaniel {Ire}) will attempt to win her third Arc in the last four years, as she is one of 22 in the French showpiece after the latest forfeit stage announced on Monday. The Juddmonte mare is one of three in the race at this stage for John Gosden, with Bjorn Nielsen’s star stayer Stradivarius (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) and fellow Juddmonte runner and undefeated 2019 G1 St Leger hero Logician (GB) (Frankel {GB}) is also entered.

Irish maestro Aidan O’Brien has four entered so far for the Coolmore partners in outstanding dual Classic heroin Love (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), 2020 G1 Grand Prix de Paris hero Mogul (GB) (Galileo {Ire}), MG1SW Japan (GB) (Galileo {Ire}), and 2019 G1 Irish Derby winner Sovereign (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}). This term’s G1 Derby victor Serpentine (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) is under consideration, but has yet to be supplemented.

Andre Fabre relegated Enable back into second in last year’s edition with Waldgeist (GB) (Galileo {Ire}), and he will send MG1SW Persian King (Ire) (Kingman {GB}) this season, although it is the first time the Godolphin representative will be trying 2400 metres. Jean-Claude Rouget will saddle MG1SW Sottsass (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}) for Peter Brant’s White Birch Farm and the progressive Shadwell filly Raabihah (Sea The Stars {Ire}), who won the G3 Prix de Psyche in August and was second in the G1 Prix Vermeille on Sept. 13.

G1 German Derby hero and Grand Prix de Paris third In Swoop (Ire) (Adlerflug {Ger}) represents Francis-Henri Graffard and Gestut Schlenderhan, while the third-place finisher that day, Gold Trip (Fr) (Outstrip {GB}), returns for Fabrice Chappet.

Lady Prancealot to Keeneland November

Lady Prancealot (Ire) (Sir Prancealot {Ire}), winner of the GI American Oaks and two other graded stakes, will be offered at the upcoming Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale in Book 1. Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent, will consign her as a racing or broodmare prospect.

“Lady Prancealot represents a great opportunity to race or breed in 2021,” said Mark Taylor, Taylor Made’s Vice President of Marketing and Public Sales Operations. “Her race potential speaks for itself, and her female family has been consistently producing top-class horses on both sides of the Atlantic for the last 50 years.”

In addition to her American Oaks win, the 4-year-old mare also captured the GIII Honeymoon S. and the GIII Pin Oak Valley View S. last year. Last seen when third in the GI Rodeo Drive S. Sept. 26, she has also placed in the GI Del Mar Oaks and three other graded black-type affairs. After beginning her career in England, Lady Prancealot moved stateside and has been under the tutelage of trainer Richard Baltas for the partnership of Medallion Racing, Parkland Thoroughbreds, Craig and Josie Arntz, Donald Durando, Jules and Michael Iavarone, and Jerry McClanahan.

“What differentiates her is she has an explosive turn of foot,” Michael Iavarone said. “I love horses that have that style. You think she has no chance, and all of a sudden here she comes out of nowhere. Horses like that really make the heart beat. They’re really exciting. She never not shows up. She puts in her run every single time.”

Although Lady Prancealot sports an international pedigree, with her dam being a half-sister to European GSW and G1SP Baqah (Ire) (Bahhare), her fourth dam is Eclipse Champion 2-year-old filly and Breeders’ Cup winner Brave Raj (Rajab).

Derby Winner Authentic ‘Very Smooth’ In Final Work Before Preakness Stakes

Spendthrift Farm, MyRaceHorse Stable, Madaket Stable and Starlight Racing's Kentucky Derby (Grade I) winner Authentic finalized his major preparation for Saturday's $1 million Preakness Stakes (GI) with a half-mile move in :47.60 Monday morning at Churchill Downs.

With jockey Martin Garcia aboard, Authentic worked at 7:30 a.m. (all times Eastern) through splits of :12.20, :24 and :36. Authentic continued to gallop out around the turn and clocked five furlongs in 1:00. He completed his work with a six-furlong gallop out time of 1:13.40.

“He's such an amazing horse,” Garcia said following the work. “He worked awesome. I've worked a lot of nice horses for trainer Bob Baffert in California and this horse is just as special. He's doing amazing for the Preakness.”

Baffert was on hand in Louisville to watch Authentic's final move along with staff members from Spendthrift Farm.

“It looked like he went in :50,” Spendthrift Farm's sales manager Mark Toothaker said. “He is very smooth.”

Authentic is scheduled to fly from Louisville to Baltimore on Tuesday along with a host of other local Preakness contenders. Among the other Preakness contenders based at Churchill Downs is George Hall and SportBLX Thoroughbreds' Max Player. The Kentucky Derby fifth-place runner worked an easy half-mile in :49.80 Monday for Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen.

The post position draw for the Preakness is Monday at 12 p.m.

After Just One Year In U.S., Trainer Jose D’Angelo Readying Jesus’ Team For Preakness

Grupo Seven C Stable's Jesus' Team arrived at Pimlico Sunday afternoon, becoming the first contender for Saturday's Preakness Stakes (G1) to step foot on the historic grounds known as Old Hilltop.

The son of Tapiture, who most recently finished third in the Sept. 5 Jim Dandy (G2) at Saratoga, arrived by van from Monmouth Park.

“He enjoyed the trip. He has in the last three months many trips. Now, it is easy for him,” said trainer Jose D'Angelo, who drove the truck towing the van carrying his stable star.

Jesus' Team took the lead in upper stretch in the 1 1/8-mile Jim Dandy before coming up 1 ½ lengths short of victorious Mystic Guide. The Kentucky-bred colt previously finished second behind Preakness contender Pneumatic in the Pegasus at Monmouth and fourth behind Kentucky Derby winner and likely Preakness favorite Authentic in the Haskell (G1) at Monmouth.

D'Angelo, a former leading trainer in Venezuela now based in South Florida, is looking forward to participating in his first U.S. Triple Crown event.

“It's very exciting. I'm very nervous, too,” D'Angelo said. “I have only one-year training in USA. It's the best race of my life. It's a great chance to show the abilities of the horse. I think we're going to have a great race in the Preakness.

D'Angelo said Jesus' Team is scheduled to jog over the Pimlico track Tuesday morning and gallop every other morning up to race day.
