Four Supplemental Entries Added To Fasig-Tipton November Sale

Fasig-Tipton has cataloged four new supplemental entries to its 2020 November Sale. These latest entries (cataloged as Hips 282-285) are all racing/broodmare prospects with current stakes form, offering exciting future racing opportunities for prospective buyers:

  • Rideforthecause (Hip 282): Four-year-old daughter of Candy Ride is in top current form. She captured the Grade 2 Canadian Stakes at Woodbine on Sept. 12, and then was a narrowly beaten fourth in the G1 E.P. Taylor Stakes on Oct. 18. She is a half-sister to Say the Word, recent winner of the G1 Northern Dancer Turf Stakes. Her third dam is multiple champion Dance Smartly, and her immediate family includes leading sire Smart Strike. Consigned as a racing/broodmare prospect by Sam-Son Farm.
  • Into Mystic (Hip 283): Daughter of Into Mischief has been on top of her game this year at four.  She won the Kentucky Downs Preview Ladies Sprint Stakes at Ellis Park on Aug. 2, followed by graded stakes placings in the G3 Kentucky Downs Ladies Sprint Stakes and the G3 Buffalo Trace Franklin County Stakes on Oct. 9. In that most recent start, she was beaten just a nose by multiple Grade 1 winner Got Stormy. Consigned as a racing/broodmare prospect by Four Stars Sales, agent.
  • Shippy (Hip 284): Three-year-old filly is a stakes winner this year, having captured the Blue Sparkler Stakes at Monmouth by 4 1/2 lengths in July. Last year at two, she was a narrowly beaten third in the G3 Schuylerville Stakes at Saratoga. Consigned as racing/broodmare prospect by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.
  • Miss Nondescript (Hip 285): Two-year-old Maryland-bred filly is an undefeated stakes winner. She captured her career debut on Sept. 4, and then won the Maryland Million Lassie Stakes on Oct. 24. A granddaughter of War Front, she is from the immediate family of Royal Ascot group stakes winner Shang Shang Shang. Consigned as a racing/broodmare prospect by Stuart Morris, agent.

Fasig-Tipton will continue to accept approved November Sale supplemental entries through the Breeders' Cup.

The November Sale will be held on Sunday, Nov. 8, in Lexington, Ky. The sale will begin at 2 p.m.

Uncle Mo Colt Tops Third Session Of Fasig-Tipton Kentucky October Yearlings Sale

A colt by champion sire Uncle Mo topped the third session of the Kentucky October Yearlings sale Wednesday in Lexington, Ky.

A son of record-breaking champion freshman sire of 2015 proved most popular on Wednesday, fetching a top price of $600,000 from Donato Lanni, agent (video).

The dark bay or brown colt was offered as Hip 1131 by Lane's End, agent. The session topper is a half-brother to English stakes winner Wind Fire (Distorted Humor) out of a winning full-sister to Grade 1 winner Majestic Warrior and stakes winner and multiple stakes producer Crystal Current. Hip 1131 was bred in Kentucky by Kinsman Farm.

The second-highest price of the day was paid for a colt by leading sire Into Mischief, purchased by Spendthrift Farm from the consignment of Paramount Sales, agent (video).

Offered as Hip 1147, the bay colt is a half-brother to Grade 2 winner Yara, dam of undefeated 2-year-old stakes winner of 2020 Moon Swag. Hip 1147 was bred in Florida by Bulldog Racing and Gabriel Duignan.

Nine other yearlings sold for $200,000 or more during the sale's third session, including:

  • Hip 844, a colt from the first crop of multiple Grade 2 winner Mohaymen, sold for $315,000 to Trade Winds Farm from the consignment of Hunter Valley Farm, agent. A half-brother to multiple Grade 1 winning millionaire Got Stormy, Hip 844 was bred in Kentucky by Mt. Joy Stables, Pope McLean, Marc McLean, and Pope McLean Jr. The colt was a $145,000 selected weanling purchase by Redly Bloodstock at last year's Fasig-Tipton November Sale, where he was consigned by Pope McLean, agent.
  • Hip 1040, a filly by successful young sire Maclean's Music, sold for $280,000 to JCM Racing from the consignment of Eaton Sales, agent. A half-sister to four winners from the immediate family of multiple Grade 1 winner Code of Honor, Hip 1040 was bred in Kentucky by Athens Woods LLC.

Wednesday's session saw 237 yearlings change hands for a total of $9,062,300. The average was $38,238 and the median was $17,000. Through three days of selling, 726 yearlings have sold for $25,800, good for an average of $35,059. The three-day median is $15,000.

The Kentucky October Yearlings sale resumes Thursday, Oct. 29 at 10 a.m.

Wanamaker’s November Sale Catalog Released Online

Continuing along their schedule of monthly online auctions, Wanamaker's has released its November catalog.

The catalog is headlined by a California-bred, 2-year-old son of Distorted Humor, Tacoflavoredkisses. Tacoflavoredkisses is two-for-four to begin his career, which includes a third-place finish in the I'm Smokin Stakes at Del Mar on Sept. 4.

The catalog, found on wanamakers.com, contains weanlings, yearlings, racehorses, broodmare prospects and broodmares. Another entry of note is the stakes-placed broodmare/racing prospect, Not in Jeopardy. This daughter of The Factor is from the immediate family of Justin Phillip, Algorithms, and Greenpointcrusader.

Prospective buyers may browse the catalog to view pictures and videos and schedule in-person inspections with sellers. Racehorse entries also contain DRF past performances, Ragozin Sheets, and race replays. Buyers must register for an account to be able to bid.

Duo By Quality Road Headline Second Day Of Fasig-Tipton October Sale

Quality Road sired the top colt and filly during the second session of the 2020 Kentucky October Yearlings sale, held Tuesday in Lexington, KY.

A Quality Road half-brother to Grade 1 winning juvenile Gretzky the Great topped the session when he sold for $560,000 to Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners (video).

Offered as Hip 498 by Anderson Farms, agent, the bay colt is out of the multiple stakes placed Bernardini mare Pearl Turn. The purchase marks a return to the source for Eclipse, which owns runaway Grade 1 Summer Stakes winner Gretzky the Great – a graduate of last year's Kentucky October Yearlings sale – in partnership with Gary Barber. Both Hip 498 and Gretzky the Great were bred in Ontario by Anderson Farms.

The session's top filly was a daughter of Quality Road offered as Hip 389, the first horse through the ring on Tuesday.

Knights Bloodstock purchased the bay filly for $230,000 from the consignment of Claiborne Farm, agent. The filly is the first foal out of the stakes placed Sky Mesa mare Moonlight Sky, a half-sister to Eclipse champion Abel Tasman and a full sister to G3 Dogwood Stakes winner Sky Girl. Hip 389 was bred in Kentucky by China Horse Club International.

Hip 680, a colt by the late Pioneerof the Nile, also brought $230,000 during the session. Bruce N. Levine purchased the bay colt out of Savvy Supreme, a graded stakes-winning full sister to multiple Grade 1 winner Commentator, from the consignment of Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent. Hip 680 was bred in Kentucky by WinStar Farm & JSM Equine.

During Tuesday's session, 241 yearlings sold for $7,996,700, good for an average of $33,181. The session median was $15,000. Through two days of selling, 489 yearlings have changed hands for a total of $16,390,500. The running average is $33,518.

The Kentucky October Yearlings sale resumes Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 10 a.m.
