Freedom Speaks Fastest At OBS Winter Mixed Sale Under Tack Show

Freedom Speaks, Hip 253 in the OBS Winter Mixed Sale, turned in the fastest three-eights workout at the under tack show Monday in a record time of :31 2/5 seconds. Consigned by Best A Luck Farm as agent, the newly minted 3-year-old filly by American Freedom out of the Macho Uno mare Wicked Speed, a half-sister to Horse of the Year Fatal Bullet.

  • Sonic Thrust, Hip 268, turned in a breeze in :31 4/5 seconds. Consigned by Grassroots Training and Sales, the Twirling Candy colt is a half-brother to multiple stakes-placed Brimstone Island and out of the Broad Brush mare Broad Sound, who is out of Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan winner Miss Legality.
  • Not Mercy, Hip 300, went in :32 flat. The filly by Laoban is out of the winning Sea of Secrets mare Mercy's Delight and from the family of European Champion Rose Bowl. He is consigned by Coastal Equine (Jesse Hoppel) as agent.
  • Calculated, cataloged as Hip 278, breezed in :32 1/5 seconds. The Klimt colt is out of the Grade 3-placed Hennessy mare Dos Lunas also from the Grassroots Training and Sales consignment.
  • Aggrandize, Hip 358, also worked in :32 1/5 seconds. The son of Exaggerator is out of the Orb mare Sightseeing Sis, a daughter of Grade 1-placed Resort. He is consigned by Journeyman Bloodstock Services (Brent and Crystal Fernung) as agent.

Four horses stopped the clock in :32 2/5 seconds.

  • Hip 258, a filly by Jimmy Creed out of Zaza by Midnight Lute is consigned by Coastal Equine (Jesse Hoppel) as agent and is from the family of Grade 2 winner Indian Firewater.
  • Hip 265, a daughter of Astern (AUS) out of Belle Amidst by Bellamy Road, a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Atoned is consigned by Julie Davies as agent.
  • Hip 273 is a gelding by Street Sense also from the Coastal Equine (Jesse Hoppel) consignment out of the stakes-placed Exchange Rate mare, Corsage.
  • Hip 314 is a Runhappy filly from the James Layden consignment out of the stakes-placed Ghostzapper mare Puzzling, herself a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Dancing Forever.

There are a number of horses cataloged in the Horses of Racing Age session that have run since the catalog; the highlight of which is stakes-placed Fifth Anniversary who won to debut her 2022 campaign, setting a new course record in her Jan. 19 start at Gulfstream. Cataloged as Hip 349 at the OBS Winter Mixed Sale, the filly by Runhappy is from the family of multiple Grade 1 winner and Triple Crown sire Pioneerof the Nile. She is out of the Hard Spun mare My Lady Lauren and is consigned by Stuart Morris as agent. Watch her race here.

The sale begins Tuesday, Jan. 25 at 11 a.m. with Hips 1-206 cataloged in the Preferred session. Horses of Racing Age sell immediately after, cataloged as Hips 251-365.

The Open session will take place Wednesday, Jan. 26 at 11 a.m. with Hips 401-649.

OBS Winter Mixed Under-Tack Show Pushed Back

Due to a forecast that calls for early-morning temperatures in the low 30s, officials at OBS have announced that the breeze show for their Winter Mixed Sale next Tuesday and Wednesday, Jan. 25 and 26, will begin Monday, Jan. 24 at 10 a.m. ET, one hour later than previously advertised.

A total of 115 horses are cataloged in the sale's racing age section, with hips 251-329 in the original catalog. A printed supplemental catalog for hips 330-362 is now available on the grounds at OBS and can also be viewed at www.obssales.com. An additional trio of horses of racing age have also been added as hips 363-365 and those pages are available in print in the OBS office.

Wanamaker’s January Sale Catalog Now Online

Wanamaker's has released its January Sale catalog, comprised of 33 hips including 12 no-guarantee stallion seasons for 2022.

Highlights of the catalog include a three-horse offering of broodmares from McMahon Thoroughbreds of Saratoga, most notably Credit Analyst, a 4-year-old daughter of Central Banker currently in-foal to Goldencents.

Proceeds from the 12 stallion seasons on offer will be donated to Love My Pitties, a non-profit rescue, sanctuary, and rehabilitation program for dogs coming from high kill and rural shelters.

More detailed information on the 33 offerings can be found at wanamakers.com. Prospective buyers may browse the website to view pedigrees, pictures, and videos of each hip offered. In-person inspections may be scheduled by contacting sellers with the information provided in the catalog.

Grade 1-Placed Brilliant Cut Headlines First Group Of Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Winter Mixed Supplemental Entries

Fasig-Tipton has cataloged an additional 49 supplemental entries to its 2022 Kentucky Winter Mixed Sale, to be held on Feb. 7-8 in Lexington, Ky.

These latest entries, which are cataloged as hips 500-548, include:

  • VACAY (Hip 501): Four-year-old daughter of Not This Time was a stakes winner at two and multiple stakes placed at three. Consigned as a broodmare prospect by Highgate Sales, agent.
  • WINK TEXAS (Hip 520): Stakes placed 4-year-old filly from the family of grade 1 winners Seventh Street, American Gal, and Authentic. Consigned as a broodmare prospect by James B. Keogh, agent.
  • ELOQUENT SPEAKER (Hip 536): New York-bred daughter of Flatter finished second, beaten a neck, in the La Verdad Stakes at Aqueduct in her most recent start on Jan. 2. From the immediate family of multiple grade 1 winner Behrens, she is consigned as a racing/broodmare prospect by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.
  • JUST READ IT (Hip 537):  Four-year-old stakes winning daughter of Constitution from the family of champion Safely Kept and multiple graded stakes winner Venetian Harbor. She captured the Cicada Stakes at Aqueduct last year and won an allowance/optional claimer at Aqueduct in her most recent start on Jan. 6. Consigned as a racing/broodmare prospect by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.
  • BRILLIANT CUT (Hip 541)Four-year-old daughter of Speightstown finished second in the Grade 1 La Brea Stakes at Santa Anita in her most recent start on Dec. 26. Earlier in her 3-year-old campaign, she finished third in the G2 Santa Ynez Stakes. A half-sister to recent stakes-winning 2-year-old filly Lemieux, her immediate family includes Grade 1 winners Diamondrella and Life Is Good, dominant winner of last year's Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile to push his career earnings over $1 million.
