Pair Of Kodiac Colts Anchor ThoroughBid Online Yearling Sale

A pair of colts by Kodiac (GB) and 34 other yearlings will go under the hammer at the ThoroughBid Online Yearling Sale on Wednesday, Nov. 8. Bidding for the first ever online-only yearling sale by a UK auction house will begin at 9 a.m. and will last approximately three hours. The catalogue is available here.

Yearlings by sires like New Bay (GB), Gleneagles (Ire), Farhh (GB), and Highland Reel (Ire) will also feature among the consigned horses. Each lot is sold with the opportunity to win the £5,000 Every 1's A Winner Bonus, to qualify for which the horses sold must win on debut aged two or three in a Flat race in any IFHA territory.

CEO of ThoroughBid, James Richardson, said, “It's a real pleasure to be the first UK-based auction house to host an online-only yearling sale. The reception this sale has had from established figures in the industry, like David and Mick Easterby, has been positive and we're delighted with the catalogue, which features some very nice pages.

“The fact that the catalogue has a host of well-proven, quality stallions represented and plenty of black-type running through the pedigrees is testament to the appetite for online sales. The importance of horse welfare as well as the ease and economy of selling online for our consignors is clear.

“Given there are no barriers to overseas bidders, and the offer of a £5,000 bonus to any debut winners in IFHA countries, we're expecting to see interest from all corners of the globe.”

Friday’s Observations: Dubawi Relative of Highland Reel Debuts at Newmarket

Observations on the European Racing Scene turns the spotlight on the best European races of the day, highlighting well-pedigreed horses early in their careers, horses of note returning to action and young runners that achieved notable results in the sales ring. Friday's Observations features Kingdom Of Time, an 800,000 Tattersalls Book 1 purchase.

18.20 Newmarket, Mdn, £8,000, 2yo, 8fT
KINGDOM OF TIME (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}), who cost Godolphin 800,000gns at the Tatts Book 1 Sale, is out of a full-sister to the seven-times group 1 and grade I-winning international heavyweight Highland Reel (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), the G1 Ladbrokes S. winner Cape Of Good Hope (Ire) and the triple group winner and dual Derby-placed Idaho (Ire). Charlie Appleby introduces the March-foaled bay in the race which saw Frankel (GB) beat Nathaniel (Ire) 13 years ago and which has also played host to Motivator (GB), Roaring Lion and the stable's ill-fated Coroebus (Ire) also by Dubawi.

How They Fared
17.18 Deauville, Debutantes, €200,000, 2yo, c/g, 7fT
National Interest (GB) (Kingman {GB}), the €800,000 Arqana August graduate from the family of Darjina (Fr) (Zamindar) and Almanzor (Fr), was a touch flat-footed when it counted before staying on to be second in this Arqana Series Des Poulains.

14.00 Beverley, Nov, £7,500, 2yo, f, 5fT
Bond Thoroughbred's Go Big Or Go Home (Ire) (Lope De Vega {Ire}), a half-sister to Battaash (Ire) (Dark Angel {Ire}) who was the 1.8-million guineas top-priced filly at the October Book 1 sale last year, chased the leaders in fifth after a slow exit and made modest late headway to finish fourth on debut.

Breeders’ Cup Winner Highland Reel To Stand In Japan In 2023

Seven-time Group 1 winner Highland Reel (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) will transfer to Takaya Shimikawa's S T Farm on Hokkaido next season. The sire of three stakes winners, led by G2 Premio Dormello heroine Atamisque (Ire) and GIII Surfer Girl S. victress Comanche Country (Ire), the Coolmore Stud stallion is currently serving the Southern Hemisphere season at Swettenham Stud in Australia for A$16,500.

An S T Farm spokesperson told Yahoo Japan, “During his racing days, Highland Reel was a horse whose performances were outstanding, not only in Europe, but overseas. I feel that his progeny show good speed, and although they have achieved results in Europe and the United States, I feel that the Japan may be a better fit.”

Out of the G2 South Australian Oaks second and G2 Schweppes Oaks third Hveger (Aus) (Danehill), he is a full-brother to three stakes winner led by multiple group winner Idaho (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), who was placed in both the G1 Derby and G1 Irish Derby, as well as G1 Caulfield S. winner Cape Of Good Hope (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}).

First Stakes Winner For Highland Reel, as Atamisque Takes G2 Premio Dormello

Atamisque (Ire) (Highland Reel {Ire}), who was a course-and-distance winner when unveiled on Oct. 3, gave her sire his first black-type winner and group scorer in one fell swoop with a 3 1/2-length success in the G2 Premio Dormello in Rome on Sunday.

The 6-5 crowd's pick tracked the pace in sixth through the early going as Terra Del Sole (Ire) (Footstepsinthesand {GB}) showed the way. That rival hugged the rail into the home straight as the rest of the field shifted away from the inside and was still clinging to the lead with 400 metres remaining. Asked for her bid out in the centre of the course, the bay drew level with new leader Jacinda at the furlong grounds, dismissed that rival handily and quickened well to win going away. Jacinda was 1 3/4 lengths to the good of a stubborn Terra Del Sole in third.

Pedigree Notes

Atamisque is the first foal out of Aury Touch, who won a pair of Italian listed stakes and was second in another six. After foaling the winner, the daughter of Pounced has since produced a yearling filly named French Fries (Ire) (Exceed And Excel {Aus}) and a weaning colt by Gleneagles (Ire). The dam is a half-sister to the group-placed Amyntas (Ity) (Desert Prince {Ire}), while Atamisque's third dam is three-time U.S. graded winner Nasty Storm (Gulch), who was also second in the GI Spinaway S. The last-named is the dam of dual Group 3 winner and G1 Phoenix S. third Actress (Ire) (Declaration of War).
