MG1SW Apple’s Jade to be Offered at Goffs Dec NH Sale

Eleven-time Group 1-winning hurdler Apple’s Jade (Saddler Maker) will be among the 522 lots catalogued for the Goffs December National Hunt Sale, which takes place Dec. 9-10 at Kildare Paddocks. Comprised of foals, yearlings and breeding stock, the catalog is now available online.

Retired in March of this year, Apple’s Jade, who is in foal to Walk In The Park, will be offered by Gigginstown House Stud as Lot 515 Thursday, Dec. 10.

The winner of 15 career races, the 8-year-old became the first mare to achieve 11 top level victories, including the Mares Hurdle at Cheltenham in 2017, the 2019 Irish Champion Hurdle, and three consecutive wins in both the G1 Hatton’s Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse and G1 Frank Ward Memorial Hurdle at Leopardstown.

“Apple’s Jade is a very special mare,” said Gigginstown Racing Manager Eddie O’Leary. “She was the first mare ever to win eleven Group 1 races, a feat now matched only by the great Enable, and we hope that she can mirror what she achieved on the track through her broodmare career.”

Ghaiyyath Half-Brother Anchors Goffs November Foal Sale

The Goffs November Foal Sale catalogue, which includes a Kingman (GB) half-brother to €1.1 million Goffs November alum and MG1SW Ghaiyyath (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}), is now online.

Scheduled for Nov. 16-18, the three-day sale features 759 foals going under the hammer at Kildare Paddocks in Ireland. The sale will be conducted using the “rising tide” format.

The Ghaiyyath half (lot 683), also a half to GI Man O’War S. heroine Zhukova (Ire) (Fastnet Rock {Aus}) and out of Classic scorer Nightime (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), hails from the draft of The Castlebridge Consignment.

Other Goffs November graduates that have gone on to top level success in 2020 are Alcohol Free (Ire) (No Nay Never) and River Boyne (Ire) (Dandy Man {Ire}), with a supporting cast featuring Group 2 winners Dark Vision (Ire) (Dream Ahead), Lemista (Ire) (Raven’s Pass), Ubettabelieveit (Ire) (Kodiac {GB}), Aloha Star (Ire) (Starspangledbanner {Aus}), Dandalla (Ire) (Dandy Man {Ire}) and GSW & G1SP Miss Amulet (Ire) (Sir Prancealot {Ire}).

Quality pedigrees abound in the catalogue, among them a full-brother (lot 636) to Classic heroine and champion Sea of Class (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) from Oak Lodge & Springfield House Stud; and lot 707, an Footstepsinthesand (GB) half-brother to G1 Phoenix S. hero and Goffs November grad Lucky Vega (Ire) (Lope de Vega {Ire}) offered by Baroda Stud. Also flying the flag for Kingman is a Moyglare Stud-consigned colt out of a SP full-sister to GI Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup S. winner Together (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) as lot 748. Established sires are also well represented, among them Kodiac (GB), Dark Angel (Ire), Invincible Spirit (Ire), Lope De Vega (Ire), Zoffany (Ire) and Night Of Thunder (Ire), as well as younger sires Mehmas (Ire) and New Bay (GB). There are also plenty of stallions bringing their first foals to the sales ring including Saxon Warrior (Jpn), Roaring Lion, Zoustar (Aus), US Navy Flag, Havana Grey (GB) and Expert Eye (GB).

During the first part of last year’s sale, 524 weanlings grossed €25,721,800, with an average of €49,087 and a median of €30,000. Topping the sale was a full-brother to Ghaiyyath, who went to Godolphin on a bid of €1.2 million.

Goffs on Track to Host Rest of 2020 Sales at Kildare

The trio of remaining sales at Goffs in 2020-the Autumn Sale (Nov. 4-5), November Sale (Nov. 15-22) and December National Hunt Sale (Dec. 9-10)-are all on schedule to remain at Kildare Paddocks in Ireland, the sales company announced on Tuesday. The COVID-19 pandemic has seen several sales move to the Goffs UK complex at Doncaster, including the Orby Sale held at the end of last month. Ireland returned to level three restrictions due to an increase in coronavirus cases on Monday.

“Goffs’ purpose is to provide the best marketplace for Irish breeders, in Ireland, and I wish to reassure vendors and buyers that our commitment to creating the best possible conditions for successful sales remains as strong as ever whilst we prioritise the safety and well-being of all clients and staff,” said Goffs Group Chief Executive Henry Beeby in a statement. “Our remaining three sales this year traditionally attract a strong mix of Irish and overseas buyers to Kildare Paddocks.

Goffs Autumn Yearling Catalogue Online

The Goffs Autumn Yearling Sale holds the unique distinction of being the only yearling sale to take place in Ireland in 2020, and the catalogue for the 2020 edition is now online. Slated for Kildare Paddocks on Nov. 4-5, the sale will offer 461 yearlings, with 61 lots originally from the Goffs Sportsman’s Sale that did not travel to the UK. Past graduates include group winners Laws of Indices (Ire) (Power {GB}) and Elysium (Ire) (Belardo {Ire}).

Many established sires are represented, among them Acclamation (GB), Australia (GB), Dandy Man (Ire), Exceed And Excel (Aus), Footstepsinthesand (GB), Holy Roman Emperor (Ire), Kodiac (GB), Make Believe (GB), New Approach (Ire), Oasis Dream (GB), Starspangledbanner (Aus), Teofilo (Ire) and Zoffany (Ire). Younger sires Gleneagles (Ire), Mehmas (Ire) and New Bay (GB) also have yearlings set to sell.

New Bay’s lot 113 is a filly out of a daughter of European champion Banks Hill (GB) (Danehill) from Airlie Stud. Another highlight is an El Kabeir colt (lot 157) out of the SP Bee Eater (Ire) (Green Desert) from Eyrefield Lodge Stud, making him a half-sister to G3 Marble Hill S. winner Minaun (Ire) (Zoffany {Ire}). Ringfort Stud brings a Kodiac colt (lot 211) who is out of a half-sister to Australian Group 1 winner Opinion (Ire) (Oasis Dream {GB}), German Group 3 winner Fox Hunt (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) and GSW Anam Allta (Ire) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}). Acclamation (GB) is the sire of lot 263, a colt out of an Arcano (Ire) half-sister to European champion sprinter Limato (Ire) (Tagula {Ire}) from the draft of Rathbarry Stud. Mount Coote Stud offers lot 287, a half-brother to MGSP Marksmanship (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) by Tamayuz (GB) out of SW Maroochydore (Ire) (Danehill).

In 2019, 387 yearlings grossed €1,693,600, with an average of €5,860 and a median of €4,000. Following the yearling portion of the Autumn Sale, Goffs will host the Autumn Horses-in-Training Sale on Nov. 5. Its catalogue will be online on Wednesday.
