$300,000 Guaranteed Jackpot In Thursday’s Rainbow 6 At Gulfstream Park

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool will be guaranteed at $300,000 Thursday at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla.

The popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the second racing day in a row following Saturday's mandatory payout. Multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $11,760.80 Wednesday.

The jackpot pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

WHO'S HOT:  Corey Lanerie made three visits to the Gulfstream Park winner's circle after scoring aboard Fuego Caliente ($32) in Race 1, Ludington ($10) in Race 3 and Bimini ($8.40) in Race 4.

Trainer Peter Walder saddled Ludington and Bimini.

Multiple Grade 1 Winner Got Stormy Pointing Toward Honey Fox After Strong Work In Ocala

Multiple Grade 1 winner Got Stormy is being pointed to the $125,000 Honey Fox (Grade 3) Feb. 27 at Gulfstream Park after breezing 'extremely well' at trainer Mark Casse's training center in Ocala Wednesday morning.

The 6-year-old daughter of Get Stormy breezed a half-mile in 48.40 seconds while tuning up for her scheduled 2021 debut in the mile turf stakes on the Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth (G2) undercard.

“I'm going to move her to Palm Meadows soon so she can start breezing over the turf,” Casse said.

Got Stormy, who broke her maiden over the Gulfstream turf course Feb. 25, 2018, beat the boys in the 2019 Fourstardave (G1) at Saratoga and went on to win the 2019 Matriarch (G1) at Del Mar.

Last season, Got Stormy won the Kentucky Downs Ladies Sprint (G3) and the Franklin County (G3) at Keeneland back to back before completing her 2021 campaign with a fifth-place finish in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (G1) at Keeneland.

Got Stormy, who campaigned for Gary Barber, was sold for $2,750,000 to Spendthrift Farm at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Mixed Sale in November.

“She went through the sale. She has a new owner – Spendthrift bought her. We brought her to Ocala, as we always do. She had time off. She's ready,” Casse said. “She gets so excited when she starts training and she worked extremely well this morning.”

Broadcaster Blewitt Joins West Point Thoroughbreds Team

Long-time racing broadcaster and industry veteran Jason Blewitt will join West Point Thoroughbreds in February in a partner account representative role.

Jason will come to West Point from Gulfstream Park, where he has hosted the track's racing broadcasts since 2017. Jason served in a similar capacity for the New York Racing Association for more than a decade, after beginning at NYRA as an intern in 1998.

“Jason is a terrific addition to our team — not only he is a great communicator, but first and foremost he loves horse racing, and that shines through to anyone who has seen his work for Gulfstream or NYRA or has talked to him in person,” said Terry Finley, the founder and chief executive officer of West Point Thoroughbreds. “He is a pro, with the knowledge that comes from poring over major league racing on a daily basis for more than two decades. He knows the players, the pedigrees, and our industry from top to bottom.”

“I am excited to join West Point Thoroughbreds and look forward to starting a new chapter in my life,” Blewitt said. “The four years I spent with The Stronach Group were unforgettable, and I was lucky to work alongside an outstanding team at Gulfstream Park. I will always look back at my Stronach Group tenure with tons of pride. I am ready for some new challenges and am pumped to join the West Point family.”

Jason will be based in Fort Lauderdale with his wife, Kristina.

Noble Mission’s Jouster Says Good ‘Knight’ to Gulfstream Rivals in Rising Star Romp

Jouster (Noble Mission {GB}), a beaten favorite twice on dirt to start her career, took to the turf with dazzling aplomb in the Sunday finale at Gulfstream, running away to a devastating maiden romp and ‘TDN Rising Star’ honors. Unveiled over six furlongs in the Saratoga slop Aug. 29, the $360,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga buy showed big speed before fading to finish second, and again retreated after setting the pace stretching out to a mile Sept. 26 at Belmont. Freshened up since then for a barn that has, as per usual, run roughshod over the Gulfstream Championship Meet thus far, she returned with a sharp Palm Beach Downs worktab capped by a bullet half-mile in :48 1/5 (1/25) Jan. 3. Backed as the fractional 5-2 favorite here, the bay quickly established command and led comfortably through splits of :23.36 and :48.01. Well held as her nearest pursuers were driven approaching the lane, Jouster opened up five lengths by the time heads pointed for home and poured it on down the stretch under mild urging, gliding home 8 3/4 lengths to the good in a sizzling final clocking. Champagne Ivy (Shackleford) was second. The winner is the first foal to race out of a daughter of the Phipps family’s 2002’s champion 2-year-old filly Storm Flag Flying, herself a daughter of the Phippses’ My Flag. Also residing under the third dam on Jouster’s pedigree are MGSWs Parading (Pulpit) and Teresa Z (Smart Strike) and GSW Performer (Speightstown), recently third as the favorite for the Phippses and McGaughey in the GI Cigar Mile H. Playtime produced a filly by West Coast last spring and has an unraced 4-year-old Liam’s Map filly named Dressed Up Gypsy.
