Gulfstream Park: Friday’s Rainbow 6 Jackpot Has $200,000 Guarantee; Pegasus Advance Wagering Begins

Advance wagering on the $3 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) and the $1 million Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (G1 and all other races on Saturday's 12-race program at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla., will be available to bettors on Friday.

The Pegasus Day program will feature graded stakes in the last six races on Saturday's program. The Late Pick 4 (Races 9-12) and Late Pick 5 (Races 8-12) will both have guaranteed pools of $750,000

The Pegasus Turf (Race 11) and the Pegasus (Race 12) will anchor the sequences for the Saturday's Late Pick 4 and Pick 5, as well as the Rainbow 6 (Races 7-12).

Friday's Rainbow 6 Jackpot Pool Guaranteed at $200,000

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool will be guaranteed for $200,000 Friday at Gulfstream Park.

The popular multi-race wager went unsolved Thursday, one day after a lucky bettor broke the jackpot for $636,311 on Wednesday. Multiple winning tickets Thursday returned $1,719.90.

The jackpot pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

Friday's Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 5-10, including the much-anticipated return of Todd Pletcher-trained Arham in the featured Race 9, a first-level optional claiming allowance for 4-year-olds and up at six furlongs. Shadwell Farm's 4-year-old son of Union Rags debuted impressively at Gulfstream Dec. 17, overcoming bumping at the start to draw off to a seven-length victory. Arham ran six-furlongs in 1:10 under Luis Saez, who has the call Friday.

WHO'S HOT: Jockey Junior Alvarado continued his winning ways with three wins. Alvarado won aboard Palace Coup ($13.80) in the sixth, Miss Italy ($8) in the eighth and Mira Mission ($6) in the ninth … Jockey Luis Saez rode three winners on Thursday's program, scorning aboard Queens Embrace ($2.80) in Race 1, Valletta $5.40 in Race 3 and Shakem ($6.60) in Race 4.

Gulfstream Park: Pegasus Week Kicks Off Wednesday with $750,000 Jackpot Guarantee In Rainbow 6

Pegasus Week at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla., will kick off Wednesday with a guaranteed jackpot pool of $750,000 for the 20-cent Rainbow 6.

The popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the sixth racing day in a row following a Jan. 9 mandatory payout. Multiple tickets with six winners were each worth $16,505.56 Sunday.

The jackpot pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

There will also be a Super Hi-5 carryover of $5,815.06.

Entries for next Saturday's $3-million Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) and $1-million Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (G1) will be taken Wednesday. The post-position draw will be livestreamed at 11:45 a.m. ET on gulfstreampark.com.

The Pegasus and Pegasus Turf will be featured on a 12-race program with five supporting stakes, including the $200,000 Inside Information (G2), the $125,000 Fred W. Hooper (G3), the $150,000 W. L. McKnight (G3), the $125,000 Marshua's River (G3) and the $125,000 La Prevoyante. First-race post time Saturday is set for 11:40 a.m.

Leading up to Pegasus World Cup Day, there will be a $97,891.79 carryover for Friday's Stronach 5 multi-race, multi-track wager.

WHO'S HOT:  Two-time defending Championship Meet titlist Irad Ortiz Jr. rode five winners on Sunday's program, scoring aboard Templet ($8.40) in Race 3, Snackster ($25) in Race 6, Traffic Pattern ($3.80) in Race 7, and Zanno ($5.60) in Race 9 before capping his big day with a victory aboard Bohemian Boy ($7.40) in Race 12.

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool will be guaranteed at $400,000 Friday at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla.

Thursday's Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 5-10, including a well-stocked maiden special weight race for 4-year-olds and up in Race 6. Perennial Championship Meet training titlist Todd Pletcher is scheduled to saddle a pair of starters, including Nocturnal, who has been idle since finishing second behind stablemate Dr Post in his debut March 29 at Gulfstream. Dr. Post went on to win the Unbridled Stakes at Gulfstream before finishing second in the Belmont Stakes (G1) and third in the Haskell (G1) at Monmouth.

Pletcher is also slated to saddle Bold Agenda, a son of Candy Ride who was bought at auction for $700,000, for his debut in the mile race. Chad Brown-trained Brazillionaire, a son of Candy Ride that cost $875,000 at auction, is set for his second start and first race with blinkers after a late-fade sixth in his debut at Churchill.

WHO'S HOT: Two-time defending Championship Meet titlist Irad Ortiz Jr. rode two winners Thursday, scoring with back-to-back winners Hero Tiger ($4.20) in Race 6 and Don't Get Khozy ($4.20) in Race 7.

Paco Lopez doubled aboard First Investor ($28.40) in Race 1 and Monte Ne ($6.40) in Race 4. Tyler Gaffalione also made a pair of visits to the winner's circle after scoring aboard Elliereeseaston ($4.60) in Race 5 and Tropicat ($18) in Race 8.
