Meadowlands: Pick 5 Pool Guaranteed At $100,000 On Saturday, Jan. 9

The Meadowlands is pleased to announce that Saturday, Jan. 9 will have a guaranteed Pick 5 pool of $100,000. Additionally, the pool with be seeded with $25,000.

Free past performances will be available for this and every live race card at PlayMeadowlands.com.

“We want to run a wagering promotion that gives back to our customers as a way of thanking them for wagering over $4.5 million on us last Saturday night,” said COO & GM of the Meadowlands Racetrack, Jason Settlemoir. “This seeded and guaranteed Pick 5 pool, along with free past performances hopefully provides bettors an additional incentive to wager on us.”

“We would like to thank the SBOA of NJ especially President Mark Ford and the SBOA Board for taking on this initiative with us,” Settlemoir added. “We were extremely pleased with on-track racing product and pool totals last Saturday and this promotion will hopefully keep the momentum going.”

The 20-Cent Pick 5 covers races 1-5 and features a low 15 percent takeout.

Gulfstream: With Five Stakes Races, Saturday’s Card Features $650,000 Rainbow 6 Guarantee

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool will be guaranteed at $650,000 Saturday at Gulfstream Park, where an 11-race program with five stakes, four graded, will get under way at 12:05 p.m.

The popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the eighth day of the Championship Meet Friday, when multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $3,359.54.

The jackpot pool is only paid out when there is a single unique ticket sold with all six winners. On days when there is no unique ticket, 70 percent of that day's pool goes back to those bettors holding tickets with the most winners, while 30 percent is carried over to the jackpot pool.

Saturday's Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 6-11, including the $200,000 Fort Lauderdale (G2), a key prep for the $1 million Pegasus World Cup Turf Invitational (G1) at Gulfstream Jan. 23, and three other stakes.

The Fort Lauderdale, a 1 1/8-mile turf stakes for 3-year-olds and up carded as Race 10, drew a field of 10, including Brad Cox-trained Factor This, who had won four graded-stakes this year before finishing eighth in the Breeders' Cup Mile (G1) at Keeneland last time out. Todd Pletcher-trained Halladay captured the Fourstardave (G1) at Saratoga before finishing sixth in the Breeders' Cup Mile.

The $100,000 Harlan's Holiday (G3), a 1 1/16-mile stakes for 3-year-olds and up, is carded as Race 9. Pletcher-trained Tatweej, a late-developing $2.5 million colt who has three straight dominating victories at Gulfstream, is scheduled to make his stakes debut in the Harlan's Holiday, which also attracted claimer-turned-Grade 1 winner Math Wizard and 2019 runner-up Phat Man.

The Rainbow 6 sequence will be kicked off by the $100,000 Sugar Swirl (G3) in Race 5. Jose Carroll-trained Golden Ami, who has turned in a pair of impressive victories in his two career starts, is rated as the 5-2 morning-line favorite for the six-furlong sprint for fillies and mares. Cinnabunny is scheduled to make her stakes debut and first start for Cox in the Sugar Swirl.

The Sugar Swirl will be followed by a well-stocked maiden special weight race for 2-year-olds, including sons of Constitution, Medaglia d'Oro, Candy Ride, Uncle Mo, Malibu Moon and Street Sense. In Race 8, Roger Attfield-trained Art of Almost, runner-up in the Maple Leaf (G3) at Woodbine last time out will head a well-balanced field of eight fillies and mares in the $75,000 My Charmer at 1 1/16 miles on turf. The Rainbow 6 sequence will conclude with a 1 1/16-mile turf race for 2-year-old $50,000 maiden claimers.

Who's Hot: In addition to Tyler Gaffalione's four-win afternoon, jockey Paco Lopez doubled Friday aboard Reservenotattained ($4) in Race 2 and Wicked Mercury ($8.80) in Race 7 … SF Racing, Starlight Racing, Madaket Stables, Stonestreet Stables, Golconda Stables, Siena Farm and Robert Masterson's Tarantino ($11.80), a $610,000 yearling making his third career start and first on the East Coast, collared pacesetting longshot Halcyon Digest at the top of the stretch and went to win Race 9, a one-mile optional claiming allowance for 2-year-olds. The winning time was 1:35.62 over a firm turf course.

Gulfstream: Saturday’s Claiming Crown Card Features Guaranteed Pool Of $250,000 In Rainbow 6

The 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot will be guaranteed at $250,000 Saturday, when the popular multi-race wager's six-race sequence will include six Claiming Crown Stakes.

The $150,000 Claiming Crown Jewel will kick off the Rainbow 6 sequence in Race 6. Grupo 7C Stable's Jesus' Team, who finished third in the Oct. 3 Preakness (G1) and second in the Nov. 7 Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1) in his two most recent starts, is rated as the 6-5 morning-line favorite for the 1 1/8-mile feature for 3-year-olds and up that have started for a claiming price of $35,000 or lower. The Jose D'Angelo-trained 3-year-old son of Tapiture is scheduled to prep for a planned start in the $3 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational (G1) at Gulfstream Park.

The co-featured $95,000 Emerald, a mile 1 1/16-mile turf stakes for 3-year-olds and up that have started for a claiming price of $25,000 or lower, follows in Race 7. Saffie Joseph Jr.-trained Tusk is scheduled to come off an 11th month layoff since a victory in the Tropical Park Turf (G3) in January. Trainer Michael Maker, the all-time leader in Claiming Crown victories for a trainer, entered six horses (including one also-eligible), headed by defending champion Muggsamatic.

The $85,000 Rapid Transit, the $95,000 Tiara, the $90,000 Canterbury, and the $75,000 Iron Horse will complete the Rainbow 6 sequence.

The $80,000 Glass Slipper (Race 2), the $75,000 Express (Race 4) and the $90,000 Distaff Dash (Race 5) will kick off the popular Claiming Crown event.

Gulfstream West: Millions Preview Program Features Rainbow 6 Pool Guaranteed At $175,000

Five Stakes on Saturday's Millions Preview program at Gulfstream Park West will highlight the six-race sequence of the 20-cent Rainbow 6.

The Rainbow 6 jackpot pool will be guaranteed at $175,000 Saturday after the popular multi-race wager went unsolved for the eighth consecutive racing day Friday, when multiple tickets with all six winners were each worth $702.74.

The $60,000 Millions Classic Preview, the first of five consecutive stakes, will kick off the Rainbow 6 sequence in Race 4. Noble Drama, a multiple-stakes winner with nearly $600,000 in career earnings has been installed as the even-money favorite for the mile stakes for Florida-bred 3-year-olds and up. The David Fawkes trainee will seek his third-straight stakes victory after capturing the Wildcat Heir and Benny The Bull in his two most recent starts. Garter and Tie, a multiple-stakes winner who finished second in the Wildcat Heir, is among the most serious threats to Noble Drama.

Briella is scheduled to chase her third straight victory in the $60,000 Juvenile Fillies Sprint in Race 5, a 6 ½-furlong sprint for Florida-bred 2-year-old fillies. Trainer Michael Yates' homebred daughter of Cajun Breeze defeated open company in a first-level optional claiming allowance over the Gulfstream Park West track. Carlos David-trained Shea D Summer was installed as the 9-5 favorite off an impressive debut victory at Gulfstream Park West Oct. 7.

Shivaree, the 2020 Curlin Florida Derby (G1) runner-up, is ready to make his first start since finishing off the board in the Aug. 7 Travers Stakes (G1) at Saratoga in the $60,000 Millions Sprint Preview, a six-furlong dash for Florida-bred 3-year-olds and up carded as Race 7. The Ralph Nicks trainee is 1-for-1 at Gulfstream Park West, where he broke his maiden by nearly 10 lengths nearly a year ago. Larry Bates-trained With Verve, who defeated Shivaree by a neck while winning the Hutcheson at Gulfstream in February. Kelly Breen-trained As Seen On Tv, who finished third in the Fountain of Youth (G2) at Gulfstream in February, returns to Gulfstream Park West, where he won the Juvenile Sprint last year.

Real Talk, a sharp debut winner at Gulfstream, has been installed as the 2-1 morning-line favorite for the $60,000 Juvenile Sprint, a 6 ½-furlong sprint for Florida-bred 2-year-olds. Nicks-trained Real Talk romped by six lengths in his Sept. 6 debut despite running into traffic in the stretch. Yates-trained Poppy's Pride will seek his third-straight win after capturing the off-the-turn Armed Forces Stakes last time out.

Peter Walder-trained Cory Gal, a six-length optional claiming allowance winner last time out, has been installed as the 2-1 morning-line favorite for the $60,000 Millions Distaff Preview, a seven-furlong event for Florida-bred fillies and mares carded as Race 8. Cory Gal was claimed for $25,000 out of a victory in her previous start. Saffie Joseph Jr.-trained Sound Machine, an open-stakes winner, is scheduled to make her first start at Gulfstream Park West after finishing third in the Miss Preakness (G3) at Pimlico in her most recent start. Terri Pompay-trained Heiressall, who finished second in last year's Millions Distaff Preview, enters this year's running off a victory in the seven-furlong Sheer Drama at Gulfstream.

A mile maiden special weight race for 2-year-olds will wrap up the Rainbow 6 sequence in Race 9.
