Santa Anita’s Autumn Wagering Menu Includes Golden Hour Pick 4, Golden Hour Double

Santa Anita's 16-day Autumn Meet, which opens this Friday, Oct. 1, will again offer fans a comprehensive wagering menu that will complement a full schedule of world class racing. With four stakes slated for opening day, including the Grade 2, $200,000 Eddie D, which marks a return to sprinting at about 6 ½ furlongs down the Camino Real hillside turf course, interest is running high as horsemen will enter for a nine-race program on Tuesday morning.

Two popular wagers that combine races at Santa Anita and Golden Gate Fields, the $1 Golden Hour Pick 4, which features a low 15 percent takeout and the $5 Golden Hour Double, will be offered this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, resume on Oct. 22, 23 & 24 and on closing weekend, Oct. 29, 30 & 31, with the resumption of racing at Golden Gate. (Golden Gate will be dark for three weekends in mid-October during the Big Fresno Fair).

Walk-up admission is welcomed and in addition to betting on-track, fans have a variety of wagering options, including 1 ST.com/Bet, which can be downloaded free of charge at the App Store. In addition to Santa Anita's simulcast signal, all of the track's races will be shown live on TVG.

Santa Anita's popular 20 cent Rainbow Pick Six Jackpot wager, which consists of the final six races on each day's program, is again available, as is the low 14 percent takeout 50 cent Early Pick 5 and 50 cent Late Pick 5.

Providing there is no single ticket winner, the 20 cent Single Ticket Rainbow Pick Six is paid on a daily basis to those consolation tickets with the highest number of winning tickets. Thirty percent of the net Rainbow pool is then carried over to a jackpot pool on the next racing day. Should there be no perfect tickets through Oct. 30, there could be a massive jackpot pool leading into a mandatory payout on closing day, Oct. 31.

The $1 Stronach Five will be offered each Friday throughout the meet and will consist of a fast paced series of five races from Santa Anita, Gulfstream Park, Golden Gate Fields and Laurel Park. The Stronach Five is a one dollar minimum wager with a 12 percent takeout.

Santa Anita will also continue to offer $1 exactas, $2 rolling Daily Doubles, 50 cent rolling Pick 3's, an early 50 cent Pick 4, as well as 10 cent Superfectas on all races with a minimum of six runners.

Low Takeout Wagers Bolster Santa Anita Winter-Spring Meet Betting Menu

With its highly anticipated Winter/Spring Meeting opener set for Saturday, December 26, Santa Anita Park has announced a comprehensive betting menu that will again feature the popular 20 cent Single Ticket Rainbow Pick 6 Jackpot and a myriad of other features, including a North American-low takeout of 15.43 percent on all $2 Win, Place and Show wagers.

Although Santa Anita remains closed to the public due to continued restrictions relating to the COVID-19 pandemic, fans can watch all of the track's live races free of charge via santaanita.com/live and can watch and wager on Santa Anita racing via a variety of ADW platforms including 1st.com/Bet.

In addition to the 20 cent Rainbow Six, Santa Anita will again offer the 50 cent Early Pick 5, which features a low 14 percent takeout, as well as the 50 cent Late Pick 5.

With the Jackpot provision in place, the 20 cent Single Ticket Rainbow Pick 6 requires a perfect single ticket in order to key a potentially life-changing payoff.  Providing there is no single ticket winner, consolation tickets with the highest number of winners receive a payoff on 70 percent of the net pool.  The remaining 30 percent is carried over to a Jackpot pool, which will continue to accrue until there is a single ticket winner or there is a designated mandatory payoff day.

The $1 Stronach Five will again be offered each Friday and will consist of a fast-paced series of five races from Santa Anita, Gulfstream Park, Laurel Park and Golden Gate Fields.  The Stronach Five offers players a low takeout of 12 percent.

Santa Anita will also continue to offer the $5 Golden Hour Double, and the $1 Golden Hour Pick 4.  Both wagers embrace late races at both Santa Anita and Golden Gate Fields.

Players will also once again be offered $1 exactas, $2 rolling Daily Doubles, 50 cent rolling Pick 3s, an early 50 cent Pick 4, as well as 10 cent Superfectas on all races with a minimum of six runners.

Additionally, the 50 cent Jackpot Super High 5 is again available in all races with seven or more declared starters.  The wager requires players to select the first five finishers in each race, in exact order.  In those races that do not produce a single ticket winner, 75 percent of the net pool will be paid out to those tickets that have correctly selected five winners, with 25 percent of the net pool carried over to the next Jackpot Super High Five race.

Special early first post time on opening day, Saturday, Dec. 26, is at 11 a.m.  For additional information, please visit santaanita.com or call (626) 574-RACE.

Sunday’s Golden Hour Pick 4 Rewards Two Winning Tickets With $35,628 Payout

In an incredible twist of pari-mutuel fate, Wedding Groom, a handy winner at odds of 4-5 of Santa Anita's eighth race on Sunday, keynoted an unlikely $35,628.60 bonanza as there were two winning tickets in the one dollar Golden Hour Pick 4, which is comprised of the final two races at both Santa Anita and Golden Gate Fields. What is equally astonishing is that the one dollar parlay in the four-race sequence would've paid, by comparison, a paltry $3,347.

Instituted at the beginning of the current Autumn Meet on Sept. 25, the Golden Hour Pick Four complements the five dollar Golden Hour Double and also features a low 15 percent takeout.

With Umberto Rispoli up, Wedding Groom sailed to victory by 8 ¼ lengths and paid $3.80 to win. Leg Two in the Golden Hour Pick 4 was run next at Golden Gate, as Shot of a Lifetime, with Cristobal Herrera up, won their eighth race at 7-1 and paid $16.20 to win.

The Golden Four then shifted back to Arcadia, where longshot I Will Not, with Mario Gutierrez aboard, took the ninth race at 10-1 and paid $22.40.

The Golden Hour Pick 4 concluded with Golden Gate's ninth race and it was won by longshot Southern Thunder. Off at 19-1 with Hugo Herrera, Southern Thunder paid $40.00 to win.

Beginning with Santa Anita's eighth race, the winning numbers, with prices in Sunday's one dollar Golden Pick 4 were (9) $3.80, (5) $16.20, (1) $22.40 & (6) $40.00.

Monday's Golden Hour Pick 4 will begin with Santa Anita's seventh race, which has an assigned post time of 4:13 p.m. PT.

First post time for an eight-race card today at Santa Anita is at 1 p.m. Santa Anita's races, including the final two races from Golden Gate Fields, can be viewed live and free of charge at santaanita.com.
