Group 1 Winner Thunder Moon Highlights Tattersalls Autumn HIT Catalogue

Group 1 winner Thunder Moon (Ire) (Zoffany {Ire}) (lot 749) is one of the highlights of the 1552-strong Tattersalls Autumn Horses-in-Training Sale catalogue that was released on Tuesday. Set for Monday, Oct. 24 to Thursday, Oct. 27, the sale–which contains 70 group and listed performers–begins at 9:30 a.m. each day.

Offered by The Castlebridge Consignment, Thunder Moon was trained by Joseph O'Brien and won the G1 National S. as a juvenile. Part of a 155-strong draft, he currently holds a rating of 108 by Timeform, and was also placed in the G1 Dewhurst S. and G1 Prix Jean Prat.

Sunday's Irish Cesarewitch victor Waterville (Ire) (Camelot {GB}) (lot 275) is part of Coolmore's 41-lot draft. Rated 116p by Timeform, the lightly-raced 3-year-old is joined by G2 Dante S. third Bluegrass (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) (lot 678), who is rated 107.

Eddie's Boy (GB) (Havana Grey {GB}) (lot 643), who won the G3 Prix Eclipse, will go through the ring from the The Castlebridge Consignment, while other 2-year-olds of note include G2 Royal Lodge S. second Dubai Mile (Ire) (Roaring Lion) (lot 768A) from Kingsley Park. Eve Lodge Stables' listed winner Rocket Rodney (GB) (Dandy Man {Ire}) (lot 1138) and the Listed Chesham S. second Pearling Path (Fr) (Holy Roman Emperor {Ire}) (lot 674) from Baroda Stud are also set to sell.

Godolphin and Shadwell Estates will offer 28 and 14 lots, respectively, with a notable lot Shadwell's group winner Mujbar (GB) (Muhaarar {GB}) (lot 657). Juddmonte's 23-lot draft contains the 97-rated Special Envoy (GB) (Frankel {GB}) (lot 1086) among others.

Andrew Balding's Park House Stables' draft of 47 features G2 July S. winner Tactical (GB) (Toronado {Ire}) (lot 1059).

Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony said, “The Tattersalls Autumn Horses-in-Training Sale has a remarkable record of producing top class winners with no less than 76 individual group/listed winners in the last three years bought at the sale including seven Group/Grade 1 winners. That continued success is the key to the sales enduring appeal to both domestic and international buyers and this year's catalogue has all the ingredients to appeal to the customary global audience including the significant, high-class consignments from Godolphin, Juddmonte Farms and Shadwell Estates.”

Adayar Heads to Champion S.

Last year's Derby winner Adayar (Ire) (Frankel [GB}) is set to take on Baaeed (GB) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) in the G1 QIPCO British Champion S. on Oct. 15.

Godolphin confirmed the news on Twitter on Tuesday in a post that read, “Following discussions yesterday, it has been decided that Adayar will miss the [G1] Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe and will head instead to the Champion S. at Ascot where conditions are likely to suit him better.”

Following his Classic triumph at Epsom last June for Charlie Appleby, Adayar added the G1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth S. to his tally of wins before finishing fourth in the Arc in heavy ground behind Torquator Tasso (Ger) (Adlerflug {Ger}). Sent to Ascot two weeks later he finished fifth in the Champion S. with the ground officially described as good to soft.

Following a minor setback in the spring, the 4-year-old's comeback was delayed until Sept. 8, when he was the easy odds-on winner of a 10-furlong conditions race at Doncaster. Adayar's defection will leave Godolphin without a runner in the Arc, a race last won by Godolphin 20 years ago with Marienbard (Ire) (Caerleon).

Godolphin’s Rebel’s Romance Annexes Cologne’s Preis Von Europa

Adding Sunday's G1 Preis von Europa at Cologne to his G1 Grosser Preis von Berlin victory, Godolphin's Rebel's Romance (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) upstaged some of Germany's premier performers as William Buick timed it to perfection again. Switched off in rear throughout the early stages, the 13-10 favourite was delivered towards the rail to hit the front inside the final furlong and beat Sammarco (Ire) (Camelot {GB}) by 3/4 of a length, with Amazing Grace (Ger) (Protectionist {Ger}) 2 1/4 lengths away in third. “He was nice and relaxed and showed at Hoppegarten that he has a turn of foot–it's a long straight here and he's better on faster ground, so he did well.”

Rebel's Romance, who captured last year's G2 UAE Derby on the dirt and also took the Listed Fred Archer S. at Newmarket June 25 and Goodwood's G3 Glorious S. July 29 prior to adding Hoppegarten's Grosser Preis von Berlin to his tally Aug. 14, is out of the Listed Height of Fashion S. runner-up Minidress (GB) (Street Cry {Ire}) whose other notable is the Listed Cairn Rouge S.-placed Petticoat (GB) (Cape Cross {Ire}). Minidress is a full-sister to the G3 Nad Al Sheba Trophy scorer Volcanic Sky (GB), with their dam being the G3 Musidora S. winner and G1 Yorkshire Oaks and Oaks-placed Short Skirt (GB) (Diktat {GB}).

Pedigree Notes:
The third dam is the excellent producer Much Too Risky (GB) (Bustino {GB}), whose four black-type winners are headed by the G2 Prix de Pomone scorer Whitewater Affair (GB) (Machiavellian), in turn the dam of the triple Group 1-winning Dubai World Cup hero Victoire Pisa (Jpn) (Neo Universe {Jpn}) and the G1 Yasuda Kinen winner Asakusa De'nen (GB) (Singspiel {Ire}). Minidress's unraced 2-year-old colt by Frankel (GB) is named Measured Time (GB), while her 2021 filly by Golden Horn (GB) sadly died.

Frankel Filly Pounces For Princess Royal Triumph

Godolphin's 3-year-old distaffer Eternal Pearl (GB) (Frankel {GB}–Pearly Steph {Fr} {SW-Fr}, by Oasis Dream {GB}) has gone from strength to strength since failing to contend with Sea Silk Road (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) in Goodwood's May 20 Listed Height Of Fashion S. and remained upwardly mobile with an impressive tally in Friday's G3 Princess Royal Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai S. at Newmarket.

The July 16 Listed Aphrodite Fillies' S. and Aug. 14 G3 Prix Minerve victrix broke from the gates as the 6-4 favourite and employed patient tactics in rear through the midway point of this 12-furlong launchpad. Sent forward inside the last half-mile, she quickened in style to initiate her pursuit of Peripatetic (GB) (Ulysses {Ire}) approaching the final furlong and bounded beyond that rival on the climb to the line for a 3/4-length success and a career high. Sea Silk Road kept on in the closing stages to finish 3 1/2 lengths further adrift in third.

“She's a typical Frankel, she stays for fun and what we've done is let her develop to allow her to do what she is doing now,” said trainer Charlie Appleby. “She stays well and, when she hit the rising ground, she quickened visibly. It was always our idea to get some more confidence into her and we missed the [Sept. 11 G1] Prix Vermeille to wait for this and then go [G1 British Champions] Fillies & Mares [at Ascot].”

Eternal Pearl is the third of four reported foals and one of two scorers from as many runners produced by Listed Prix des Lilas victrix Pearly Steph, herself a daughter of G3 Dirk Elbers-Preis winner Pearl Banks. Pearl Banks is out of G1 Prix Vermeille heroine Pearly Shells, herself a half-sister to GI Hollywood Turf Cup-winning sire Frenchpark (GB) (Fools Holme). Pearl Banks's trio of black-type winners is completed by G1 Matron S. heroine Pearls Galore (Fr) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) and G3 Grosser Preis der Mehl-Mulhens-Stiftung victrix Lucky Lycra (Ire) (Olympic Glory {Ire}). The April-foaled bay is half to a weanling colt by Belardo (Ire).
