5th-GP, $89K, Msw, 3yo, 7f, 1:26 p.m. ET

IDONEO (Uncle Mo), the first foal out of SW and GII Mother Goose S. runner-up Classic Fit (Bernardini), has been working smartly for this debut run for Bill Mott. The Godolphin homebred has posted six bullet workouts at Payson Park since January, including a three-furlong move in :36 3/5 (1/11) Mar. 25. The 'Boys in Blue' will also be represented by fellow debuting homebred Six Kings (Nyquist), who was produced by a half-sister to GISW Film Maker (Dynaformer). He is trained by Brendan Walsh. The deep field of 11 also includes the Todd Pletcher-trained first-time starter Mindframe (Constitution), a $600,000 KEESEP yearling purchase by Repole Stable and St. Elias Stables. TJCIS PPS

Unbeaten ‘TDN Rising Star’ Knightsbridge Back With Authority at Gulfstream

6th-Gulfstream, $72,000, Alw (NW1X)/Opt. Clm ($75,000), 3-28, 3yo, 1m, 1:36.75, ft, 9 lengths.
KNIGHTSBRIDGE (c, 3, Nyquist–Tyburn Brook, by Bernardini), a jaw-dropping debut winner going seven furlongs at Churchill Downs Nov. 4, returned to the races in style at Gulfstream Park Thursday afternoon. The 1-9 favorite, drawn widest of all in post five, broke alertly and held a narrow advantage through an opening quarter in :23.40. Facing continued pressure through a half mile in :45.40, the 'TDN Rising Star' began to shake free turning for home and dropped the hammer in the stretch while racing under wraps to win by nine lengths. Sea Streak (Sea Wizard) was second.

Knightsbridge is a half-brother to Speaker's Corner (Street Sense), GISW, $739,963. After producing a filly by Street Sense in 2023, the winner's dam was bred back to Street Sense and Curlin. Knightsbridge's second dam is GI Breeders' Cup Distaff heroine Round Pond (Awesome Again).

“He's been off a while. His first race was good. This race was good,” Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott said. “He had a couple of setbacks trying to get ready. Maybe we would have preferred to be ready a month ago or sooner, but this is the way it worked out. Fortunately, we were able to get the race here. I'm grateful that the race filled and we were able to get the race in him.”

Knightsbridge could turn up next in the GII Pat Day Mile S. at Churchill Downs on the undercard of the first leg of the Triple Crown, per Mott.

“We had a little of this and a little of that – just the stuff you go through when you come to Florida. Who knows? Maybe, it's all for the better,” Mott said. “We nominated for the Triple Crown, but I didn't feel like we had enough momentum to think about it.”

Appleby’s Dubawi Double Heading to the Guineas

Godolphin's Ancient Wisdom (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}) looks likely to use the Qipco 2,000 Guineas as a stepping stone to the Betfred Derby, according to trainer Charlie Appleby.

He said, “Ancient Wisdom won the Futurity on very soft ground and has been held in high regard from very early in his career.

“After getting beaten at Ascot he progressed physically, as you would expect from a Dubawi.”

Ancient Wisdom won four of his five starts last year, landing the G3 Autumn S at Newmarket prior to his Group 1 triumph. A return to the Rowley Mile for the first Classic of the season appears the favoured option ahead of the G2 Dante S., a traditional Derby trial, which takes place at York on May 16, just over two weeks before Epsom.

Appleby continued, “It's possible there will be slow ground for the Guineas, and we will take a look at that with the view that a mile and a half will prove his forte.

“If I waited for York and the ground was soft, there's not much time left until Derby to put things right should they go wrong, and it would be a more ambitious route to take.”

Appleby also issued an update on the unbeaten filly Dance Sequence (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}), winner of the G3 Oh So Sharp S. on her second start last season.

He said, “Dance Sequence has done well. William [Buick] sat on her the other day and was delighted. We will take her to the Nell Gwyn and then the English Guineas.”

Godolphin's TDN Rising Star KNIGHTSBRIDGE (Nyquist), not seen since his TDN Rising Star-earning performance last fall, marks his return for trainer Bill Mott. The homebred is a half to GISW Speaker's Corner is out of Tyburn Brook (Bernardini), a daughter of dual Grade I winner Round Pound, who brought $5.75 million at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Sale in 2017. Trainer Todd Pletcher has two entered here, including Turn Up the Trees (Liam's Map). A $500,000 KEESEP purchase, the St Elias Stable runner won on debut going six panels in Hallandale Jan. 13 before fading to be a forgivable seventh while stretching to 7 1/2 furlongs on the grass Feb. 10.
