George Stanners Re-Joins Goffs

Goffs has announced that George Stanners has re-joined the company in a client liaison and auctioning role in Ireland and the UK.

Stanners spent 17 years working with Goffs UK before taking up the position as bloodstock manager at Yorton Farm last year.

He remains a consultant to the leading breeding operation but Goffs chief executive Henry Beeby has described his delight at seeing Stanners return to the company he joined straight out of school.

Beeby said, “We are delighted George is back with us as he was always a popular and highly effective member of the team.

“His new role will see him engage with vendors and purchasers for all Goffs and Goffs UK sales, inspecting and recruiting for our portfolio of sales in Kildare, Doncaster and our specialist boutique sales at the likes of Aintree, Punchestown and Sandown, and then working with our Purchaser Attraction Teams to promote each catalogue to buyers.

“At the same time he will maintain the superb link with Dave Futter and his team at Yorton as we evolve and develop that mutually beneficial relationship.”

Beeby added: “His presence on the rostrum at every sale in Kildare and Doncaster will only enhance our exceptional panel of auctioneers as he is a world-class operator with a unique and highly effective style.”

Stanners said: “I'm pleased to return to a role with Goffs and be back on the rostrum on a more consistent basis. Being on the ground visiting breeders and trainers is something I have always enjoyed, so I look forward to assisting them both at home and at sales throughout the year.

“Alongside my Goffs commitments, I will continue to work closely with both Yorton and the Potter family as they trade both on and off their farms at Leighton, which is another aspect I relish.

“Goffs and Yorton share many mutual clients so my new Goffs role will only be complemented by my ongoing connection with Yorton.”

George Stanners Appointed Bloodstock Manager of Yorton Farm

George Stanners has been named the new Bloodstock Manager of Yorton Farm. Previously with DBS which became Goffs UK straight from school 17 years ago, Stanners will begin his new role on Jan. 1, 2022. He will continue to serve as an auctioneer at most Goffs sales in Kildare and Doncaster. Additionally, Goffs UK will continue to conduct all sales held at Yorton Farm.

Goffs Group Chief Executive, Henry Beeby said, “We are obviously sad that George will be leaving us at the end of the year as he is such a popular, effective and integral part of our team. That said we are proud that “our man” is joining the vibrant set up at Yorton and wish him the very best of luck.

“We are delighted that George will remain solely available to us as an auctioneer as he has developed into one of the best in the business whilst we are also very happy that our superb relationship with Yorton will continue as Goffs UK will remain the exclusive auctioneers for any future Yorton Sales.”

Dave Futter of Yorton added, “George's appointment is one of the most exciting developments in the history of Yorton. He is widely respected by the bloodstock community, he has a wealth of knowledge and marvellous contacts across all sectors of the industry.

“We would also like to thank Goffs UK and are very grateful for their support which we have received over the last three years and we are very much looking forward to growing our relationship further in the future.”
