GSW Sibilia Spain Heads to Arqana December

G2 Prix du Muguet winner Sibila Spain (Ire) (Frankel {GB}-L'Ancresse {Ire}), by Darshaan {GB}) has been added to the Arqana December Vente d'Elevage and is set to go under the hammer during the first evening of the sale Saturday, Dec. 9 when consigned by Haras de l'Hôtellerie. A winner of the Listed Prix de Liancourt at three, the Christopher Head-trained mare finished fourth in the G1 Prix Saint-Alary and G1 Prix de Diane. In the spring of her 4-year-old campaign, she went on to take her first group win in the Prix du Muguet.

Offered carrying her first foal by Dubawi (Ire), the 5-year-old is out of the listed winning and G1 Irish Oaks runner-up L'Ancresse and a full-sister to group winner and G1 Ascot Gold Cup-placed Master of Reality (Ire). The well-bred mare hails from the family of Group 1 winners Cerulean Sky and Moonstone as well as Honolulu, Royal Bench, Mayhem, Memphis Tennessee and US Army Ranger.

The Arqana December Vente d'Élevage catalogue will be available Monday, Oct. 30 on www.arqana.com.

Inspiral Facing BC Or Champions Day Choice; Potential To Stay In Training Next Year

Inspiral (GB) (Frankel {GB}), a five-time Group 1 winner, will start in either the GI Breeders' Cup Mile or on QIPCO British Champions Day, as connections mull their options. The star homebred of the Cheveley Park string, the 4-year-old could also potentially stay in training in 2024.

Cheveley Park Stud's managing director Richard Thompson said of the John and Thady Gosden trainee, “We're looking at the QEII or the Breeders' Cup this season. It will be one of the two, we just don't know which one yet. It depends on how she comes out of Saturday, it depends on the ground at Ascot–there's a few factors.”

After three seasons racing with top-level victories in the G1 Fillies' Mile at two, the Coronation S. and Prix Jacques le Marois at three, another Marois and the Sun Chariot S. last Saturday as a 4-year-old, this season might not be Inspiral's last.

He added, “She could potentially stay in training next season, but that depends on how she comes out of her final race this year, whichever race that is going to be.

“The trainer will give us his steer and if he feels she's ready to go next season, we'll go with it and give her another go next season, absolutely, subject to him [John Gosden] giving us that confirmation.”

Onesto Will Stand At Haras d’Etreham Upon Retirement in 2024

Group 1 winner Onesto (Ire) (Frankel {GB}–Onshore {GB}, by Sea The Stars {Ire}), who is bound for the Breeders' Cup next month, will stand at Haras d'Etreham in 2024, the French stud announced on Tuesday.

Bred by Diamond Creek Farm in Ireland, the Fabrice Chappet runner was a debut winner at Chantilly in September of his 2-year-old year and won the G2 Prix Greffulhe in his second start at three. Fifth in the G1 Prix du Jockey Club, he claimed the Grand Prix de Paris last July and the colt was second in the G1 Irish Champion S. that September. Currently racing for Gerard Augustin-Normand, Jean-Etienne Dubois, Ecurie Hunter Valley, Haras d'Etreham, Ecurie Billon, Ecurie Elag, Chappet, and Hubert Guy, the 2023 G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe third is poised for a GI Breeders' Cup Turf bid at Santa Anita in less than a month, having exited the Arc in good order. His record stands at 12-3-2-1 and $1,327,473 in earnings.

Haras d'Etreham's Nicolas de Chambure said, “Selected by Hubert Guy at the breeze-up sales in America, Onesto has always shown great speed for a Classic horse. He possesses a most remarkable pedigree, which is why we acquired him as a 2-year-old. He was a magnificent colt and has become a very handsome horse with the conformation of a miler and a strong physique. Our hopes of seeing him becoming a stallion prospect have been realised thanks to his high-class performances at the top level. In addition to his natural speed, he boasts a rare capacity of acceleration and the mentality of a warrior.”

The 185,000gns Tattersalls October Book 1 yearling turned $535,000 OBS Spring Sale 2-year-old is out of the unraced mare Onshore. She is a half-sister to Group 3 winner Jet Away (GB) (Cape Cross {Ire}), while her Kahyasi (Ire) dam Kalima (GB) is a full-sister to the tremendously influential blue hen Hasili (Ire) and her brood of top-level winners.

“His racing career has been a wonderful adventure alongside a group of enthusiastic associates and we are delighted to welcome Onesto to stud as he represents a unique opportunity for us, and a first-rate profile for French breeders and the French stallion ranks,” Chambure added.

A syndicate will be created for Onesto's stallion career, with some shares available. His stud fee will be announced in due course.

Jumping from in between a West homebred and a Don Alberto one is C R K Stable's Shear Magic (Good Magic). The $350,000 OBSAPR pick up from this past spring has been sighted religiously on the work tab for conditioner John Shirreffs. His dam, a half-sister to GSP Bo Cruz (Creative Cause) and out of a half-sister to GI Preakness hero Cloud Computing (Maclean's Music), was a winner and has produced three others from as many to the races. This is the family of MG1SP Marino Marini.

The West runner American Hope (American Pharoah) is out of MGISW Room Service (More Than Ready), a half-sister to SW & MGSP Oscar Party (Dixie Union) and full-sibling to GSW Major Gain. Don Alberto's Citadino (Runhappy) hails from the family of champion 3-year-old filly MGISW Surfside and her half-brother, track record-setting GSW Irish Surf via second dam, champion 2-year-old filly MGISW Flanders.
