Toddchero (Bucchero) gave his freshman sire (by Kantharos) his first winner Friday night when taking his debut at Lone Star. Sporting a pair of blinkers for this unveiling, the 5-2 shot caught a flier off the blocks and never gave them a chance after putting up a comfortable :45.65 half, cruising home under a hand ride to win by 3 1/2 lengths. B W P Spirit (The Big Beast) chased him home the entire way. Toddchero has a yearling half-brother by Khozan and French Politics was bred to Caracaro for this season. This is the family of champion sprinter and GI Breeders' Cup Sprint winner Orientate (Mt. Livermore).

Good Magic Represented By First Winner at Churchill

Curly Jack gave his Eclipse-winning young sire Good Magic his first winner with a stylish debut victory at Churchill Downs Thursday afternoon. Given a 4-1 chance, the $180,000 KEESEP acquisition was away without issue from his rail draw and tugged his way up the fence to seize the early advantage, clocking a :22.33 opening quarter. Pressed by Boxster (West Coast) through a :45.62 half-mile, the bay dispatched that foe with ease in the lane, rolling clear to a four-length score.

GISP Connie and Michael is also responsible for the SP 3-year-old filly Fannie and Freddie (Malibu Moon). Her most recent produce is a yearling colt by Gun Runner. Connie and Michael is a half to graded winners High Ridge Road (Quality Road) and Senor Rojo (Out of Place).

Good Magic broke his maiden in the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile, resulting in an Eclipse Award. The GI Haskell Invitational S. winner stands alongside his sire Curlin at Hill 'n' Dale for $30,000.

Awesome Slew Gets First Winner at Gulfstream

Ocala Stud-based Awesome Slew was represented by his winner at Gulfstream when Awesome Strong romped in his unveiling. Dispatched as the slight second choice at 7-5, Awesome Strong was away without incident from the rail and settled in third through a snappy :21.79 opening quarter. Taking control entering the far turn, the bay rolled clear in the lane to graduate in style by six lengths. Don't Answer (Uncaptured) was the runner-up.

The winner is a half to Bad Debt (Grand Reward), MSW & MGSP, $838,330. Pleasant Ring has not produced a foal since Awesome Strong, but was bred to Bucchero last term.
