Anticipating an earlier sunset and wanting to be sure that all of its races could be run under optimal conditions during the Labor Day weekend, Del Mar Thoroughbred Club in Del Mar Calif., announced today that it has moved up its first post on the upcoming Saturday, Sunday, and Monday to 1:30 from its normal 2 p.m. Pacific start.
“We need to be sure that we've got plenty of daylight to keep our horses and riders safe,” said DMTC vice president and racing secretary David Jerkens.
Entries for the Saturday card will be taken this Wednesday, while Sunday's card will be drawn on Thursday and, finally, the Labor Day card will be taken on Friday.
