First-Year Sire Complexity Gets First Mares in Foal

The first mares bred to 'TDN Rising Star' Complexity (Maclean's Music), winner of the GI Champagne S. at two and the GII Kelso H. at four, have been confirmed in foal. The bay retired to Airdrie Stud last fall. He stands for $12,500, stands and nurses.

“We have had a terrific response to Complexity, and he has been booked full for some time,” said Cormac Breathnach. “He is off to a great start in the shed and we have a lot to look forward to with him.”

A Klaravich Stables runner, Complexity was bred to two mares each on both Feb. 14 and 15, with all four mares scanning in foal.

McKinzie, Spun to Run Mares Confirmed in Foal

Gainesway freshman sires McKinzie (Street Sense) and Spun to Run (Hard Spun), winner of the 2019 GI Breeders Cup Dirt Mile, have their first mares confirmed mares in foal.

McKinzie, a four-time Grade I winner, won graded stakes from age two through five, including the GI Los Alamitos Futurity, GI Pennsylvania Derby, GI Whitney S. and GI Malibu S. In addition to a Breeders' Cup win, Spun to Run also annexed the GIII Smarty Jones S. and was runner up in the GI Cigar Mile and third in the GI Haskell Invitational S.

Mares Confirmed in Foal to GISW Higher Power

Darby Dan Farm's Higher Power (Medaglia d'Oro–Alternate, by Seattle Slew) confirmed the Grade I winner's first mares are in foal. Confirmed in foal, Gold Club (Majestic Warrior), out of the Touch Gold mare Be Golden, was the first mare he bred Feb. 11. She is owned by Brandywine Farm. Also confirmed in foal is Talking Audrey (Thunder Gulch–Diversa, by Tabasco Cat), a half-sister to Grade I winner Love Theway Youare, who was bred Feb. 12. Talking Audrey is owned by RAH Bloodstock.

A 5 1/4-length winner of the 2019 GI Pacific Classic at Del Mar, the half-brother to MGSW Alternation was a five-time winner of more than $1.5 million. In addition to his Pacific Classic victory, he also placed in the GI Breeders' Cup Classic, GI Hollywood Gold Cup, GI Awesome Again S., and the GII San Diego H.

First Mares For Shaman In Foal

French MGSW Shaman (Ire) (Shamardal), who was runner-up in the G1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains, has had his first five mares scanned in foal, Yeomanstown Stud announced on Thursday. The SP Wings of the Rock (Ire) (Rock of Gibraltar {Ire}), a half-sister to SW & GSP Yulong Baobei (Ire) (Choisir {Aus}), Shanooan (English Channel), out of G1 Italian Oaks heroine Bright Generation (Ire) (Rainbow Quest), and Nefetari (GB) (Kodiac {GB}), from the family of G1 Middle Park S. placegetter Auditorium (GB) (Royal Applause {GB}), are among the mares successfully in foal to the G1 Prix Jacques le Marois second and G1 Prix Ganay third.

“Shaman has been very well received and supported by breeders,” said Yeomanstown's Gay O'Callaghan. “He has shown great enthusiasm for his new role and I'm sure he'll be a great success.”
