First Mare Checked in Foal to Elite Power

Dual Champion Elite Power (Curlin–Broadway's Alibi, by Vindication), a new stallion of 2024, has had the first mare he covered checked in foal, according to an announcement from Juddmonte late Tuesday.

The mare, Candy Strike (Candy Ride {Arg}), is a 4-year-old out of GSW & MGISP Scarlet Strike (Smart Strike), who is a half-sister to GISWs Tara's Tango (Unbridled Song) and Visionaire (Grand Slam).

Elite Power, a two-time winner of the GI Breeders' Cup Sprint, is standing his first season at Juddmonte Farms near Lexington, where his 2024 fee is $50,000.

WinStar Reports First Mares in Foal to Life Is Good and Nashville

Breeders' Cup winner Life Is Good (Into Mischief) and Keeneland track record-setter Nashville (Speightstown), both 'TDN Rising Stars' and first-year stallions at WinStar Farm, have each had their first mares confirmed in foal, according to WinStar.

Four-time Grade I winner Life Is Good has multiple mares confirmed in foal, including graded winner Tiz Breathtaking (Tiznow) and Tapas (Tapit), an unraced mare acquired for $1.3 million by CHC Inc. at the 2016 Fasig-Tipton sale.

Nashville also has multiple mares scanned in foal. Undefeated in his first three starts, Nashville set a new track record of 1:07.89 for six furlongs in winning the Perryville S. at Keeneland on Breeders' Cup Day in 2020.

First Mares in Foal for Spendthrift’s First-Year Stallions

Cyberknife, Greatest Honour, Jackie's Warrior, and Mo Donegal–the four first-season stallions standing at Spendthrift Farm for 2023–have all stopped their first mares, according to the Central Kentucky farm.

The first mare reported in foal to GI Arkansas Derby and TVG.com Haskell S. winner Cyberknife, a son of sire sensation Gun Runner, is graded producer Afleet Lover (Northern Afleet), who is located at Wynnstay Farm. Likewise, the beautifully bred GII Fountain of Youth S. winner Greatest Honour, a son of Tapit, also had his first mare confirmed in foal. She is American Jack (Pioneerof the Nile) and is part of the Watershed Equine broodmare band.

The Eclipse champion sprinter of 2021, Jackie's Warrior got Chesapeake Farm's stakes producer Battle Bridge (Arch) in foal. A son of Maclean's Music, Jackie's Warrior won five Grade I races during his career. And finally, the 2022 GI Belmont S. winner Mo Donegal, a son of Uncle Mo. also had his first mare confirmed in foal. She is Allez Jete (Petionville), who is part of Adan Mandujano's broodmare band.

First Mare in Foal to Flightline

The 2022 Horse of the Year and World's Best Racehorse Flightline (Tapit) is represented by his first in-foal mare, four-year-old Lady Scarlet (Union Rags–Exclude {GB} by Include). Winner of last season's Cicada S. and GIII Miss Preakness S. for owners Paradise Farms Corp and David Staudacher. She was a recent purchase by Glendalough Farm at the Keeneland January sale. Flightline stands for $200,000.

Flightline raced by Summer Wind in partnership with Hronis Racing, Siena Farm, West Point Thoroughbreds and Woodford Racing. Trained by John Sadler, he won the GI Breeders' Cup Classic, the GI Pacific Classic, the GI Metropolitan H. and the GI Malibu S. He was the world's highest rated racehorse in 2022 on a figure of 140 and is the highest-rated dirt horse of all time.
