First Mares In Foal For Sumbe New Recruits

The first five mares bred to Nurlan Bizakov's Sumbe newcomers–multiple Group 1 winner Mishriff (Ire), and the pair of G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere winners Angel Bleu (Fr) and Belbek (GB), are all in foal the operation announced on Tuesday morning.

Group 3 winner Tamarind (Ire) (Sadler's Wells), a winner of the G3 Give Thanks S. and the dam of three stakes-placed horses, is in foal to Mishriff, as is Labaaqa (Ire) (Le Havre {Ire}), who is the only one of the five not a member of Bizakov's broodmare band.

Albanka (Giant's Causeway), the dam of G3 Oh So Sharp S. heroine Altyn Orda (Ire) (Kyllach {GB}), who placed in a pair of Group 1 races, is pregnant to Angel Bleu.

Rounding out the quintet of in foal mares are the black-type producer Melilot (Fr) (Elusive City) and her daughter Mageva (GB) (Wootton Bassett {GB}), who was third in the G1 French 1000 Guineas.

First Mares in Foal to Olympiad, Drain the Clock, Keepmeinmind

OLYMPIAD (Speightstown), winner of the GI Jockey Club Gold Cup S. and runner-up in the GI Breeders' Cup Classic, has had his first mares scanned in foal, Gainesway Farm announced Friday. He is confirmed in foal to Cheyenne Stables's Navasha (Giant's Causeway), who is from the female family of Grade I winners Fault (Blame) and Juju's Map (Liam's Map). Olympiad stands for $35,000 at Gainesway.

Gainesway also announced that GI Woody Stephens S. winner DRAIN THE CLOCK (Maclean's Music) has his first mare in foal as well–Amelia Island (Hook and Ladder), the dam of Grade III winner Amelia's Wild Ride (D'Wildcat). Drain the Clock stands for $10,000 at Gainesway.

KEEPMEINMIND (Laoban), winner of the GII Kentucky Jockey Club S., covered Wintrily (Carpe Diem), his first mare bred reported to be in foal. He stands for $6,500 at Sequel Stallions New York.

First Mares Scanned In Foal By Fifty Stars

Group 1 winner Fifty Stars (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Aus}), who stands at Sunnyhill Stud in Ireland, has had his first mares scanned in foal. Some mares in foal to the half-brother to Leopardstown Grade 1 winner Whiskey Sour (Ire) (Jeremy) include Grade 2 Fairyhouse Festival winner Lady Breffni (Ire) (Yeats {Ire}), herself a half-sister to the dam of dual G3 Grand National winner Tiger Roll (Ire) (Authorized {Ire}); Moraine (GB) (Rainbow Quest), the dam of Wicklow Brave (GB) (Beat Hollow {GB}); Kerry and Munster National-winning Cabaret Queen (GB) (King's Theatre {Ire}); bumper winner Stops The Nation (Ire) (Bated Breath {GB}), who is a sister to Wicklow Brave; and AQPS Grade 3 winner Et Dite (Fr) (Limnos {Jpn}). The 7-year-old, who won the G1 Australian Cup at Flemington over 10 furlongs, stands for €3,000 this year.

Darley’s New Stallion Trio Have First Mares In Foal

Five-time Group 1 winner Palace Pier (GB) (Kingman {GB}), GI Breeders' Cup Mile hero Space Blues (Ire) (Dubawi {Ire}), and the Classic-winning Victor Ludorum (GB) (Shamardal) all have had their first mares scanned in foal, Darley Europe announced on Monday. Each stallion also has a full book. A crack miler, Palace Pier stands for £55,000 at Dalham Hall Stud in Newmarket. Also, a winner of the G1 Prix Maurice de Gheest, Space Blues commands €17,500 at Kildangan Stud in Ireland. Rounding out the trio, Victor Ludorum landed the G1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere as a juvenile and is based at Haras du Logis in France where his fee is €15,000.
