$5 Million, Again, for Shedaresthedevil

2020 GI Kentucky Oaks heroine Shedaresthedevil (Daredevil) brought $5 million at Fasig-Tipton November 12 months ago when Mandy Pope of Whisper Hill Farm partnered with her previous campaigners–Flurry Racing Stables and Qatar Racing. This time around, Pope went to the same price to buy out those partners and take home the $2,777,458 earner. Since last year's transaction, Shedaresthedevil took the GII Fleur de Lis S. amid placings in the GII Azeri S., GI La Troienne S. and GI Clement L. Hirsch S. She was consigned to the sale as a racing or broodmare prospect by Hunter Valley Farm as hip 233.

Uncle Mo, Bellafina Daughter Brings Big Money at Fasig

A weanling daughter of Uncle Mo out of MGISW Bellafina (Quality Road) was the first to break the seven-figure threshold–which will no doubt be eclipsed many times once the mare portion starts–at Fasig-Tipton November Sunday, fetching $1.35 million on a winning bid from Gabriel Duignan, who signed as Paramount Bloodstock. Consigned by Eaton Sales as hip 128, the Feb. 11 foal was bred by the Coolmore-connected entities of Orpendale, Chelston and Wynatt and Kaleem Shah. Shah acquired Bellafina for $800,000 at the 2018 Fasig-Tipton Florida sale, and saw her take the GI Del Mar Debutante and GI Chandelier S. later that season. She added the GI Santa Anita Oaks as a sophomore and was second in that year's GI Breeders' Cup F/M Sprint. Coolmore's Mrs. John Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith bought in after that, and she'd subsequently add another graded stakes win and two more Grade I placings en route to $1,617,975 in career earnings. This is the first foal out of the full-sister MSW/MGSP Diamond King. Bellafina herself will sell as hip 264 later in the evening. Click here for more.

Godolphin Into Mischief Homebred Rolls to Rising Star Honors

Sent off at odds of 2-1 despite a difficult draw in gate 12, Godolphin's Pretty Mischievous (f, 2, Into Mischief–Pretty City Dancer, by Tapit) did it toughest of all, but was there for Tyler Gaffalione when push came to shove and went on to prevail by 2 1/4 deceptively easy lengths to become the 33rd 'TDN Rising Star' for her boom sire.

Away without incident from the wide outside, the homebred raced four wide in the breeze just off a trio of pacesetters up ahead of her. Cruising along in hand as they raced around the turn, Pretty Mischievous breezed up to her rivals to make a line of four at the head of the stretch, showed some agility to open up when asked approaching the final furlong and was not fully extended to take it by a comfortable margin.

Pretty Mischievous is the second foal to the races from her dam, who shared the spoils with her sire's daughter Sweet Loretta in the 2016 GI Spinaway S. at Saratoga. Pretty City Dancer is a half-sister to Lear's Princess (Lear Fan), who defeated GI Belmont S. heroine Rags to Riches (A.P. Indy) in the 2007 GI Gazelle S., and was acquired by Stroud Coleman Bloodstock on behalf of Godolphin for $3.5 million in foal to Medaglia d'Oro at the 2018 Fasig-Tipton November Sale. The cross of Into Mischief over Tapit mares has resulted in 13 winners, including SW Travieza.

Barren to Uncle Mo for 2021, Pretty City Dancer produced a filly by Medaglia d'Oro this season and was bred back to Street Sense.
