The Feb. 15 foal is the first produce for his stakes-placed dam and was purchased by Bregman Family Stable for $185,000 at last year's Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July Sale. The bay breezed a quarter-mile in a slick :20 3/5 at this year's OBS April Sale and was originally led out unsold, but was subsequently acquired by the Woolcotts for $550,000 in a private transaction. Josephine Abercrombie's Pin Oak Stud, one of the country's most successful Thoroughbred breeding and racing operations over the past six decades, will be offering its remaining broodmares, weanlings, and some racing fillies at Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Sept. 12. Denali Stud will handle the sale as agent for Pin Oak.
Separate from this main group are 14 yearlings which will be offered in the upcoming Keeneland September Sale and an additional yearling entered to sell at Fasig-Tipton's Saratoga Sale. Some 14 retired mares and horses will remain on the farm.
“This has been part of Ms. Abercrombie's plan all along, as we have been selling mares and downsizing the past few years,” farm manager Clifford Barry said. “Actually, in keeping to her plan, we have sold more yearlings than we kept in training the past couple of years.”
Among the 24 horses being offered in September are graded stakes winners Overheard (Macho Uno), in foal to McKinzie; Gold Medal Dancer (Medaglia d'Oro), in foal to Munnings; and Don't Leave Me (Lemon Drop Kid), in foal to Authentic. The 2021 foals out of these mares and others are also part of the sale on Sept.12.

Recognized as the 1995 National Thoroughbred Breeder of the Year, Pin Oak Stud has produced or campaigned over 100 stakes winners. Prominent homebreds to carry the distinct blue-and-gray striped silks include Peaks and Valleys, Broken Vow, Confessional, See How She Runs, Hasten to Add, Laugh and Be Merry, and Missed the Storm.
An active supporter of the racing industry as well as her community, Ms. Abercrombie has been honored with the William T. Young Humanitarian Award and the Hardboot Award, both presented by the KTA/KTOB. In 2018, Ms. Abercrombie received one of the industry's most prestigious awards when she was named the Thoroughbred Club of America Honor Guest.

Fasig-Tipton has cataloged a total of 348 yearlings for The July Sale, to be held at the auction house's Newtown Paddocks in Lexington, Kentucky, in a single session Tuesday, July 13. The catalog is available for viewing online.
The front cover for the 2021 edition, which is back in its normal position on the calendar after being pushed back to September last year, is adorned with Grade I graduates of The July Sale, including Derby City Distaff heroine Bell's The One (Majesticperfection), recent GI Madison S. winner Kimari (Munnings) and Speech (Mr Speaker), victorious in the 2020 GI Ashland S. Five graded stakes winners from this season appara on the back cover, including Chess's Dream (Jess's Dream), Leinster (Majestic Warrior) and Mighty Mischief (Into Mischief). Just this past weekend, $55,000 July grad Lone Rock (Majestic Warrior) led home a Fasig-Tipton sourced trifecta in the GII Brooklyn S. on the GI Belmont S. undercard.
“Fasig-Tipton selected yearling sales return to their traditional spots on the calendar in 2021, starting with a strong renewal of The July Sale,” said Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning. “The sale will begin with the Freshman Sire Showcase–a long-time element of the July Sale that we are reintroducing this year–which will offer the first yearlings by 2021's exciting group of freshman sires. The sale will then transition into the more proven, sire-heavy part of the catalogue. Overall, our 'proven' sire-power has increased again this year.”
Fasig-Tipton is also accepting nominations for the July Selected Horses of Racing Age Sale, which takes place Monday, July 12. Nominations will remain open right up until sale time, but entries are recommended prior to June 18.
“The market for racehorses is very strong right now, and the sale's placement ahead of the lucrative summer race meets make this auction immensely popular with buyers,” Browning noted.
The catalog will also be available via the Equineline catalog app. Print copies will be available beginning June 14.

SATONO IMPULSE (c, 2, Tapizar–Allencat, by Storm Cat) is out of an unraced daughter of GISW Pharma (Theatrical {Ire}) who has already bred MSW Miss Frost (Curlin), the dam of MSP Torres Del Paine (Karakontie {Jpn}). The colt’s third dam is champion and MG1SW Committed (Hagley), whose son Hap (Theatrical {Ire}) was a six-time GSW and twice GISP and whose daughter Belva (Theatrical {Ire}) is the dam of champion MGISW English Channel (Smart Strike). A $60K KEEJAN short yearling, Satono Impulse fetched $135K as a Fasig-Tipton July yearling and was hammered down for $500K at OBSMAR after drilling a furlong in :10 flat. The gray’s dam, winner of the 2010 GI Breeders’ Cup Distaff (ex Ladies’ Classic), was purchased by Whisper Hill Farm’s Mandy Pope for $3.8 million in foal to Tapit at KEENOV in 2016.
