‘Pinehurst Flash Sale’ Begins Thursday on Fasig-Tipton Digital

Pinehurst (Twirling Candy–Giant Win, by Giant's Causeway), winner of last year's GI Del Mar Futurity and this year's G3 Saudi Derby, will be offered on Fasig-Tipton Digital in a one-horse auction beginning Thursday, Nov. 17 at 12 p.m. ET and concluding Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. ET. Pinehurst is being offered by ELiTE, agent, as a racing or stallion prospect.

The bay, bred on a similar cross to Gun Runner, was a debut winner at Del Mar last August and followed up with a 4 1/2-length victory in the Futurity. Making his sophomore debut in the GII San Vicente S., Pinehurst was a sound second to the talented Forbidden Kingdom (American Pharoah) and made virtually all the running over the testing one-turn mile at King Abdulaziz Racecourse in Saudia Arabia, defeating the well-regarded Japanese raider Sekifu (Jpn) (Henny Hughes).

Pinehurst has three wins from seven trips to the post for earnings of $1,213,500.

Produced by a daughter of MSW Win's Fair Lady (Dehere)–herself a full-sister to MGSW/GISP Graeme Hall–Pinehurst is out of a full-sister to GSW First Passage, the dam of GSW Berned (Bernardini) and First to Act (Curlin), second to Nest (Curlin) in the GII Beldame S. last month. Pinehurst's third dam also includes GISW Harmony Lodge (Hennessy).

“Pinehurst's credentials make him a highly attractive offering,” said Leif Aaron, Fasig-Tipton Director of Digital Sales. “He's a Grade I winner at two, an international graded stakes winner at three and impeccably bred. He should have a broad appeal to racing and stallion operations the world over.”

Bidding Now Open for Kate’s Kingdom Flash Sale On Fasig-Tipton Digital

Bidding is now open on Fasig-Tipton Digital for the “Kate's Kingdom Flash Sale,” a one-horse online auction of Kate's Kingdom, winner of the GIII Ontario Matron S. at Woodbine this past weekend. Bidding on the racing/broodmare prospect will close this Tuesday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m. EDT.

A 4-year-old daughter of Animal Kingdom, Kate's Kingdom earned a career-best 6+ Ragozin figure in the Ontario Matron victory over Woodbine's main track. It was her second stakes win this year, increasing her earnings to $211,855. She is a winner on both turf and synthetic in her career and is out of a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winning millionaire Vicar's in Trouble, stakes winner Devine Mischief, and stakes placed Harbour Island.

“Kate's Kingdom has developed into an elite level racehorse in recent months, and at just four years old, she is just getting started,” said Leif Aaron, Fasig-Tipton Director of Digital Sales. “The 6+ Ragozin number that she earned in last weekend's graded stakes win was a lifetime best and shows that she is in the best form of her career. This auction is yet another great example of the opportunities that our digital platform offers to buyers and sellers.”

Rags Pauline Tops Fasig-Tipton Digital Sale

The Fasig-Tipton August Digital Selected Sale concluded Tuesday afternoon with 45 horses sold for $500,900. The online auction was topped by Rags Pauline (Union Rags) (hip 2), a 6-year-old mare in foal to Candy Ride (Arg), who sold for $80,000 to Jack Hirsch. Rosilyn Polan's Sunday Morning Farm consigned the mare from its Versailles, Kentucky base.

Rags Pauline is a half-sister to Grade II winner Keen Pauline (Pulpit) and is carrying a foal bred on a similar cross to Unified, a three-time graded stakes winner and top-10 first-crop sire last year. Polan purchased Rags Pauline for $17,000 at the 2020 Keeneland January sale.

Buyers may still make offers on horses that failed to meet their reserve by visiting the sale page, then clicking “Make Offer” next to the horse they are interested in purchasing.

Fasig-Tipton's next digital auction will be the final phase of the Glen Todd Dispersal. Bidding will be held Sept. 22-29.

Fasig-Tipton Digital Announces Sale Dates and New Features

The Fasig-Tipton Digital Sales calendar for the remainder of the year will include an August Digital Sale (Aug. 25-30); Glen Todd Dispersal, Final Phase (Sept. 22-29); October Digital Sale (Oct. 6-11); and December Digital Sale (Dec. 8-13).

The August, October, and December Digital Selected sales will focus on racehorses and quality breeding stock, while the Glen Todd Dispersal Final Phase will primarily feature the remaining breeding stock of the late British Columbia Thoroughbred industry fixture.

“The December Digital Selected Sale will be a larger sale and one to plan for,” said Fasig-Tipton Digital Sales Director Leif Aaron. “The timing of the sale will help buyers and sellers to alleviate tax burdens before the end of the calendar year. There are also major benefits for breeders looking to sell mares in foal in an online arena.”

For the December sale, Fasig-Tipton will open its Newtown Paddocks in Lexington for people cataloguing weanlings to the auction. Buyers will have the opportunity to inspect young stock in person, while still utilizing the Fasig-Tipton Digital online sales platform.

Nominations for the August Digital Selected Sale close Aug. 19.

In addition to the scheduled Digital Sales, Fasig-Tipton officials will also be available to discuss opportunities for flash sales.

Fasig-Tipton's digital platform has received several upgrades, including a 'Learn More' section with information for prospective buyers and sellers, as well as a 'News' section.
