Adayar and Snowfall Supplemented to Arc

Classic winners Adayar (Ire) (Frankel {GB}), and Snowfall (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}) were both supplemented for €120,000 each to the G1 Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe on Sunday, bringing the field to 16 at the latest entry stage.

Godolphin's G1 Cazoo Derby and G1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth S. winner is one of two to carry the royal blue in the ParisLongchamp showpiece alongside G1 Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby, G1 Grand Prix de Paris and G1 Cazoo St Leger victor Hurricane Lane (Ire) (Frankel {GB}).

Snowfall has enjoyed an outstanding season, kicked off by a win in the G3 Musidora S. at York in May before taking the G1 Cazoo Oaks in June, the July 17 G1 Juddmonte Irish Oaks, and Aug. 19 G1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks. The Coolmore partners colourbearer was only 1 ½ lengths behind Roger Varian's Teona (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) in the G1 Qatar Prix Vermeille on Sept. 12. Aidan O'Brien also saddles five-time Group 1 winner Love (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and Broome (Ire) (Australia {GB}), successful in the G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud in July.

His Highness The Aga Khan's Tarnawa (Ire) (Shamardal), an electric winner of the GI Breeders' Cup Turf last season and second to the recently retired St Mark's Basilica (Fr) (Siyouni {Fr}) in the G1 Irish Champion S. on Sept. 11, lines up for Dermot Weld. Shadwell's G2 Darley Prix de Pomone victress Raabihah (Sea The Stars {Ire}) is also signed on from the Jean-Claude Rouget yard, while Richard Hannon sends Derby second and St Leger runner-up Mojo Star (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}) for Amo Racing. Alenquer (Fr) (Adlerflug {Ger}) will take part for trainer William Haggas. Germany is represented by Group 1 winner Torquator Tasso (Ger) (Adlerflug {Ger}) for trainer Marcel Weiss.

Japan's four-time Group 1 winner Chrono Genesis (Jpn) (Bago {Fr}) and Sept. 12 G2 Prix Foy victor Deep Bond (Jpn) (Kizuna {Jpn}) are also entered. The pair will be ridden by Oisin Murphy and Mickael Barzalona, respectively.

“Cristian [Demuro] couldn't ride for various reasons and I was surprised that Mickael Barzalona was free in the race,” said Ryuji Okubo. “It will depend on the weather [how Deep Bond is ridden]. There is rain forecast over the weekend, so the ground is going to be a little bit softer than it was on the day of the Prix Foy.

“Everything will really depend on the pace of the race and also the draw. In Japan he doesn't usually run from the front, he usually drops in behind the leader and obviously on Sunday we will have to think how that will pan out, but we wouldn't want to have Chrono Genesis just sitting behind.”

The Arc field is rounded out by Cedric Rossi's Group 1 winner Sealiway (Fr) (Galiway {GB}), and the G2 Qatar Prix Niel one-two of Bubble Gift (Fr) (Nathaniel {Ire}) and Baby Rider (Fr) (Gleneagles {Ire}).

Coast to Curragh Raises €145,000 For Cancer Trials Ireland

A total of €145,000 was raised by the inaugural Coast to Curragh charity cycle for Cancer Trials Ireland. Created by Gavin Lynch, the event started at Laytown Races and finished at The Curragh Racecourse. Over 300 people participated, among them Rachael Blackmore, Shane Foley, Barry Geraghty, Paul Carberry and Tadhg O'Shea, in the 155km charity cycle. Members of the late Pat Smullen's family, his wife Frances, son Paddy, and brothers Ger and Brian, also took part. Pat's daughter Hannah and weigh room friend Kevin Manning were waiting at the finish line. All of the money raised will be donated to Cancer Trials Ireland in memory of Pat and Gavin's mother Olive Lynch, who both passed from pancreatic cancer.

Gavin Lynch, Coast to Curragh charity cycle organiser said, “We had a magic day on Saturday, and I was blown away by the huge turnout of cyclists and the generosity of the 2000 people who donated to Cancer Trials Ireland. I'd like to sincerely thank everyone who took part, donated and volunteered their time, including the generous support from Paddy Power and Servier Laboratories (Ireland) Ltd. I'd like to give special mention to An Garda Síochána for their assistance and all the racecourses and stud farms who allowed us to use their facilities as pit-stops.

“The Coast to Curragh GoFundMe page will stay open for donations until Friday, Oct. 29–every penny counts towards Cancer Trials Ireland's vital research.”

Johnny Farrelly Excluded From British Racing

Trainer Johnny Farrelly has been found in breach of six offences under Regulation 4 and one under Regulation 6 of the BHA Safeguarding Regulations and has been permanently excluded from British racing, the British Horseracing Authority announced. The ruling follows five days of hearings in front of the National Safeguarding Panel (NSP), with the case referred by the BHA. Farrelly will not have the right to review until at least seven years have passed, with the exclusion beginning on Oct. 5, 2021. Farrelly, a former jockey, has indicated he will appeal the ruling. As part of their ruling, the NSP have agreed that the finding of exclusion against the trainer may be publicised, but there can be no further disclosure of the details of the case. The BHA and all parties are bound by the NSP's rules around disclosure.

Tim Naylor, Director of Integrity and Regulation for the BHA, said, “Everyone who works in British racing must be willing to call out and stand up to any behaviours which fall short of the values of openness, inclusivity and respect on which our sport is built.

“We are extremely grateful to the people who came forward in this case to highlight the concerns which eventually led to today's finding. It was as a result of the brave actions of these people, reporting concerns via the sport's confidential RaceWISE reporting line, that we have been able to successfully bring this case to a conclusion.

“This was a lengthy and complex investigation which called deeply on the expertise of the sport's dedicated safeguarding unit, who deserve great praise. It also utilised the independent expertise of the National Safeguarding Panel to ensure that any verdict was provided by a fully independent, specialised arbitration process.

“We cannot comment further on the details of the case as they are confidential and we are bound by the NSP's rules around disclosure.”

Farrelly responded to the news with a statement on his behalf through the National Trainers Federation which read: “I intend to appeal against today's findings and will therefore make no further comment about the hearing. I would also like it to be known that a police investigation concluded with no charges in relation to my conduct.”
